That guy did respond on the destroyedish Snap-On box. He said he'd go as low as 100$ and he really needs it gone. It seems strange to counter offer while saying he needs it gone so I think I'll stick with what I offered if I do get it but I'm really unsure now. Like I said I thought it might be a fun rehab project sanding it down priming it, painting it. I wish there was some way without driving 45 minutes to know that the rust wasn't all the way through and the box wasn't out of square. Not sure on this one.

Yup, Seller confirmed Dave picked them up today and no longer available. I'm glad I could help.

The remorse is still stinging.

Thanks again macgee.

Between the two cabinets, there are 6 1" drawers....which I think are useless for me. One would think chisels or punches could/should go in there, but then there is a case or large handle on some that wouldn't fit and it drives me nuts having like items split up in different areas.

Anyone in SoCal want to trade up to 6 1" drawers for Nu Era for 2/3/4/5/6" drawer/s? I'll drive to you.

2002 Saylor-Beall VT-755 Compressor - $200

00o0o_5mSwt2mcCHp_600x450.jpg

Seems like a decent deal.
http://albany.craigslist.org/for/5116062175.html

I have been emailing the seller. I don't think it is a scam. He wants 200.00. It is a cash and carry deal. Vintage 2001. Corporate made them upgrade. Seems to be about 950lbs. I was going to have someone I know in Avon, CT go up and get it, but it uses 3 phase 240V. And changing the motor to 10HP 1 phase 220V unit is not cost effective.

That's an easy fix. Get a phase convertor from Teco for 3 phase to 220 but I'm unsure of the price for a phase convertor for 10HP.

I have several Teco's for my bandsaw, wood lathe and drill press.

EDIT: Just saw price for phase convertors for 10 HP = Not cheap

Craftsman Professional table saw with Beismeyer Fence - $300 (Lawndale, CA)

Professional cutting table saw only one year use is in good condition I asked for 300 or less

Doesn't get much cheaper than that especially if he takes less, the fence alone sells used for that price. Comes with a nice miter gauge and wheel base.

He posted his phone number.

I bet that's gone in 30 mins!

Hey Dave,

I saw your post about not wanting the tool chests and sent you a private message last night about acquiring the tool chest. I might just get lucky after all.

Thanks,

Found a Wilton 9300N on Craigslist for $60.
No base, missing three of the screws and has a chipped jaw..
I guess it was worth the trip.

Craftsman king seeley Variable speed drill press $100 (simi valley)

"1965 Drill Press Craftsman, Original owner. No need for it any more. Works great. Has variable speed option."

Looks like it includes a vise and vintage lamp. Can't tell exactly but I think it has the on/off & reversible power switch. Very good price for someone

Shopsmith Mark 5 - $175 (Burbank)

"Works. In fair condition."

Super cheap for someone who's looking for one and can make for a good wood lathe, large sanding disc, boring machine and strong drill press. Only problem is finding all the other add-on's cheaply. The thickness planer and jointer for this are actually not bad to use; can't say the same about the tablesaw (meh).

Mark V's are still for sale new for $3,600 but who have no idea who would ever buy a new one.

Also is this actually a deal? It might be fun to rehab:
http://bn.craigslist.org/tls/5085314087.html

185$ seems pretty high given how terrible it looks but it might just be the exterior that's bad and it looks like all scraped up and black but it doesn't look like it's rusted through anywhere so maybe the metal is in good shape.

So the consensus on this was it wasn't even worth 90$? I offered the guy 90$ saying I've seen it on CL for a long time and if he wanted to get rid of it. He said he'd take 100$ and I didn't respond. He relisted it like 5 days ago at 120$. Now today he said "Uh I'll take 90$". Just thought I'd discount double check before I let this one go.

Fir, sorry, not worth $90.

If it didn't have the Snap On logo would you still pay $90 for it? Would you even want it?

There are deals on very nice boxes out there. Keep looking.

I wouldn't spend $90 on any box in that condition. Keep looking.

Let it go! Time to let that one fade away.

Don't worry, much better ones will come up for around the same price or a couple of bucks more. That one above is not worth restoring. I would rather restore 8 rusty vises than tackle that box. All that rust would be a nightmare is clean up and remove, then the left over pitting will make the paint job look crappy unless you do a lot of bondo.
Your talking a lot of work for a box that is common to find in much better condition for a couple more bucks.

Blue Point tool cart: $150. Might not be woth that much, but seems like it would be worth it to me if you're in the market for a cart.

Pallets of Craftsman power tools and whatnot for $400 a pallet. This one just seems pretty interesting. Lots of overstock stuff, even if they are new Craftsman it's hard to ignore the price if you feel like blowing $400.

Alright I'll leave that one be. Unless he comes back with a low enough price that I could maybe sell the Snap-On Emblem lol.

Also, I found this:
http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/tls/5129732660.html

Some guy has a huge room of tools for sale. He wants to setup a time to come see it and buy stuff. Kind of a strange way to sell it but... Could be a deal?

If anyone up near Chicago wants to go check it out it could be cool. I'm not planning to be up there anytime soon, otherwise I would.

I wouldn't, even if you wanted a project. If you do happen to go look at it, check it over very thoroughly. I think it is rotted out between the welds and all.

I wonder if that work bench was obtained legally... I see stuff like this from my work on Craigslist once in a while here from where I work, and I know there is no way they brought it home legally. Spent taxpayer dollars on the job using taxpayer funded materials to build something, brought it home and sold on Craigslist.

I know there are government/military auctions...

Edit: here's one right here: http://maine.craigslist.org/atq/5076058229.html
Wish I could read what's on that tag.

Looks like an old school Waterloo top and bottom set (quality, not their low-end junk they sell and embarrass themselves with nowadays) stuffed with tools for $200 in Livermore CA.

My garage is full, darn it. Otherwise...most of the tools are throw-ins, but a few diamonds in the rough.

Am I missing something? Does no one want these anymore?

Personally I've never used one before and I currently have a full working wood shop but always wanted one of these growing up and they seem really handy for the occasional wood worker who's short of space and at these prices you would be very hard pressed getting a bandsaw, wood lathe, tablesaw, large sanding disk and drill press...etc all for $175-$285 total.

They must be a pain to set up but for occasional light duty use? I'm sure the prices also included a ton of tooling. I know this is not the thread to discuss it
But below are two Mark V's currently for sale:

Shopsmith Mark 5 - $285 (Burbank)

"Works. I don't think it has been used very much."
