Thank you sir. I appreciate you stopping by.

That’s good to hear it’s under warranty.

I agree with you. I would like to get an older wrx as a project but don’t know if it’s in the cards for me. I do wish you luck!!! Haha.

Wow. That’s not at all what I thought they would do. Interesting! I’m just curious, did a structural engineer sign off of those plans? Definitely a few non-conventional things there.

Hopefully they also clean that concrete splash off your drywall. Why didn't they put plastic across the lower portion of your drywall? Hopefully what they did solves the problem.

Nice garage. Glad to see that foundation work got fixed.

Took long enough, but I agree!

I know that they worked with an engineer who came by my property a few times, but that's about the extent of it. I'm going to talk to the builder/realtor and ask them to document the repairs and warranty the work so in the off chance I run into any potential issues down the road, I'm covered.

Yeah no kidding. I wasn't super happy about that, so it's going on their To Do list.

With the slab now cured enough to park on, I took advantage of the awesome weather we'd been having and got my Raptor dialed in for the winter. I'm a huge fan of Obsessed Garage and try to follow, as best I can, Matt Moremans approach to detailing vehicles. Scroll down past the photos for the products used, if you're curious.

This is how the truck looked after roughly 8 hours of washing/sealing/waxing/etc:

Overall, paint’s in pretty good shape. Definitely a decent amount of swirl marks I’ll need to address in the Spring, but nothing deep or anything like that. Shouldn’t be too difficult to address, even for a someone like me who hasn’t done much paint correction in the past.

Granted, that’s all dependent on my current obsession. Getting back into a BMW. I’m seriously considering either selling or trading the Raptor in the next few months to grab 2 cars...ideally an E46 M3 and a new daily to go with it. No idea what that daily would be, yet, however.

I love the Raptor but after having it for almost a year now, I just think I need something new. I was initially thinking of something older, a BMW E28, perhaps. But the E46 M3 is fairly affordable and I think pricing is going to skyrocket on these in the next few years.

Lots to consider, and luckily I don’t need to rush anything. Might take the winter to think it over and decide. Unless a juicy opportunity presents itself, of course.

They require more maintenance than say your older 335i because of the head needs to be shimmed but it's DIY able. E46 M's are decent I'd like to own one but E36 M3 while has a crappy build from time to time is easily a great dual purpose car. Track events and still can be a good on street unless you install a cage. Only issue is good ones are now where ratty E46's are in price scale.

Nice thing about the Raptor is the 4 doors and it's utilitarian use. I hate how trucks in New England are so over priced.

You're following his approach in vehicle purchases as well  He sold his BMW to purchase a Lightening Blue Gen 2 Raptor, which he just sold to puck up an E92 M3!

Good stuff though.... the truck is looking great. Do you think you'd miss the utility the truck provides if you jump back into a car?

Seriously! The resale on pickups in the area is RIDICULOUS.

I am open to an E36 M3, for sure, but I've always had a soft spot for the E46 M3. It just does something for me each time I see it where the E36 M3 doesn't have quite the same effect.

And sure, the Raptor is HUGE and makes road trips super comfortable, but I can get something much cheaper that offers the same utility and comfort. And my wife's Jeep GC, while nowhere near as spacious as the Raptor, has enough interior space for us and the boys. Plus, we can always get a roof storage rack and I already have a tow hitch cargo rack for it.

I'd definitely try to DIY the repairs on any future car, but luckily I know a guy whose father in law is a master BMW tech, so I have connections!

Thanks for the input! When can I get a ride in that E30 M3? I PM'd you a few weeks back but never heard from you. Would like to meet up sometime near you (there are breweries in CT I'd like to check out).

:lol_hitti

It's so true!! His Gen 2 was SICK but I'm glad his Gen 1 is staying in the Moreman family. And obviously I love the E90/E91/E92/E93 BMW's, so I was a huge fan of his decision to pick up an E92 M3. Honestly, I considered an E90 M3 for a hot second, but I wanted something different, having already had an E90.

But, honestly, it's just more of a coincidence. I miss driving a stick and daily driving a truck just isn't as enjoyable. And while the utility is definitely convenient, I can count on one hand the amount of times the "utility" has come in handy. Not only do I know people with trucks, but my wife will still have the Grand Cherokee for the foreseeable future, so that'll become the baby hauler. Again, this is all assuming I actually move forward with replacing the Raptor. Right now, anything could happen, but I'm definitely leaning that way. I just don't feel right without a BMW in my garage. I can't quite explain it.

Not only that, but I can easily pick up a non-Raptor pickup truck for FAR less money than this beast is costing me.

My wife had the perfect analogy for me yesterday. I was married to BMW for so long (having owned 4 myself, my mom owned 1 and my wife owned 1) and the marriage was great, but I needed to try something else and so I opted for a mistress (the Raptor). And while the mistress was great, there's nothing like going home to a happy marriage. :bounce:

She has been sent off for winter storage at friend's shop in CT. Hoping to have her pulled out come mid March maybe May.

I need to get my E36 M3 all situated for next spring as well. I toyed with adding a S54 into it since it will never be worth any real money with a blemished title and color change from Schwartz to Titansilver.

Builder sent one of his guys to fill the cracks. I don't know that he used hydraulic cement, so I'm fairly certain I'll have to re-address them at some point down the road, but I guess it's better than nothing for the time being:

Garage door company came out Friday and replaced the busted garage door opener. The damaged garage door trim was also replaced. And the divots to the asphalt caused by the mini excavator were also filled. We'll have to apply a topcoat in the future to ensure some longevity, but this will suffice for now.

The last thing up in terms of garage repairs is the concrete splash, but honestly, I may just try and clean it up/sand it down myself. Then, I'll get the garage painted before the cold weather is upon us and wait for bonus time (January) for my NewAge cabinets!

I need a larger garage have three cars shoe-horned in there so being it's a driver it's simple choice to send the M3 to Matty's place for winter storage in a climate controlled space.

Thanks for sharing all the ups and downs. Space looks great.

How do you like that HF air hose reel? Is the hose rubber or plastic? Does it want to stay curled when you're trying to use it? Does it reel in all the way as it should? I'm considering the HF version, but I'd rather step up a notch if need be...buy once cry once.

do you also have the unlimited money tree growing in your yard like moremans?

Um :headscrat

Oh, wait, are you referring to Obsessed Garage Matt Moreman? Or actual morman's? lol

If the former, then no, no unlimited money trees in our neck of the woods. They don't like the soil up here. Which is why everything takes time. If I had OG money, this all would have been done yesterday!

I believe this is all covered by home warranty.

Correct! The warranty was for one year, which expired in April of '17. However, the cracks/sinking all occurred within that first year. The builder wanted to let everything settle as much as possible, which is why the repairs only just happened.

So far, so good. But, again, I envision having to eventually repair the cracks with hydraulic/expanding cement down the road at some point.

I need a larger garage have three cars shoe-horned in there so being it's a driver it's simple choice to send the M3 to Matty's place for winter storage in a climate controlled space.

Amen to that! I'd love an oversized 3rd car addition at some point, but we have other priorities first, such as finishing the basement. Worst case, I may go the 4 post lift route so we'd be able to store her Grand Cherokee and my future project/weekend cars in the garage, with a daily driver in the driveway!

For the price, I'm very happy with it. The rubber hose does not have memory issues like other hoses and does not attempt to coil/curl while in use, so that's a plus!

The reeling action is pretty solid. It may take a few tugs of the hose to initiate the reeling, but once it gets going, there are no hiccups. For the weekend warrior-type mechanic, I'd recommend it, for sure!

Going to try and clean up the concrete splash this week/weekend and prep the walls for painting. I found a local guy who charges a pretty fair rate for interior paint, so he's going to be painting my garage in the next few weeks. Was originally just going to do the walls, but while I'm at it, I may have him paint the ceiling, too.

Yeah agree and then I went and screwed the pouch this week.......I picked this up very cheap. Not sure if I'm gonna flip it or make it a future lemons race car.

Next order of business for my garage is getting it painted. Because my free time is limited (having two young children and all), I am opting to pay someone else to take care of this for me. So I spent some time yesterday taking all the decor down, as well as anything else that was hanging on the walls. Once it's painted, I'm going to be moving things and rearranging, anyway. After taking everything off the walls, I cleaned up the concrete splash from my recently poured slab and filled any cracks and holes in the drywall.

I'm going to go around and sand down the spackle and, if need be, apply a second helping of spackle to those deeper holes. I'm also hoping to get up on a ladder and clean the cobwebs and dust that has made it's way to the top of the walls in some of the corners.

I actually bowl with the guy who will be doing the painting and he said he should be able to start soon after I'm done cleaning/prepping the surfaces, so hopefully next week.

While the painter doesn't use Benjamin Moore (I forget which brand he does use), he'll use his variation of the color I've decided to go with, Harbor Gray: https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/color-overview/find-your-color/color/ac-25/harbor-gray?color=AC-25

After paint is done, next up will be cabinets. I've decided on the NewAge Bold series, but haven't nailed down the exact setup/package that I want for my space yet. There are the ones I'm deciding between (mind you, with a stainless steel worktop, not the bamboo pictured in 2 of the photos):

50430_101_Primary01_1024x1024_6bc7f408-ff4a-444f-87a4-99aeccc6e3f0_1024x1024.jpg

50432_101_Primary01_1024x1024_ee9594ad-f212-4750-bc11-4f7e2e659f29_1024x1024.jpg

50439_101_Primary01_1024x1024_ce80bd99-d562-46fe-9477-9cc5799f6289_1024x1024.jpg

I'm leaning towards the last set, though I may opt to remove two of the smaller upper cabinets, as I'd like to mount a television in that space. I believe each smaller upper is 28" wide, so I'd be gaining about 56" of space, meaning I'd be able to mount a 55" TV!

Waiting to hear back on a Black Friday price quote from one of the GJ vendors, www.shopstoragecabinets.com, before I pull the trigger.

Thanks for the tip! I've seen the same. Seems like they have solid customer service, so I'm not too worried. Besides, if anything does arrived damaged, I'll just use the damaged cabinets in the basement!

Just another M52b28, have two spares on garage shelving. Will stud the head and safety wire the oil pump bolt. Looking for two more team members for a new team, trying to keep all roughly same height drivers 5-8 to 6-0.

Most of my customer's receive their orders free of damage. If you order one or two cabinets at a time, they will be shipped as parcels. That means they will be handled more than if they were part of a set that has been sitting on the same pallet from the time they were manufactured to when you receive them at your home.

NewAge cabinets are guaranteed against manufacture's errors and shipping damage. Any replacements are sent out as soon as possible, usually within a week.

Any damaged cabinets are left to the customer to do as they choose. NewAge would have to get rid of the damaged cabinets anyway. Any returns would require a separate pick up and the additional shipping cost which would eventually add to the overall cost of cabinets.

They do accept returns that are in their original packaging. I had a customer who received the wrong worktops bamboo instead of stainless. He had already removed and disposed of the cardboard package they were shipped in. Any return to the warehouse must be able to be resold as unopened unused products.

NewAge and it's distributors are in the business of making happy customers. I've been selling NewAge cabinets since 2010. If I didn't have happy customers I would be out of business.

Thanks for your support of small business.

Ah ok cool.

Hm, I'm 5'10". Never really been on a track outside of a few auto-x events, but I'm a good driver.

Awesome! Those cabinets are really going to take your garage to the next level. Can’t wait to see them in there.

You and me, both!! HA, that's what I'm saying. I think they are going to transform my garage. Thanks, man!

I'd love the cabinets but think I would just make them into a giant clutter mess.

Luckily (for me) the most I do are oil changes and brake jobs. So the cabinets will hold my tools and all my detailing supplies. Should be able to keep everything fairly organized!

Awesome to hear, John. I responded to your quote about an hour ago asking for a price on a revised version of the package I had originally inquired about. Do you do any sort of price matches after the fact? Meaning, if I buy from you tomorrow, but another site has a better Black Friday price, would you refund me the different after I've already made the purchase?

I'd like to buy ASAP, as my garage should be getting painted one day this week. I've only been waiting to order the cabinets because of this.

NewAge does all the warehousing and shipping and they are quoting 1 to 3 weeks for deliveries. If you ordered now your paint would be dry in time.

As a small business I quote the best prices based on my cost. With the Black Friday Prices, my profit nets out to be 3%. The regular retail prices on NewAge cabinets would net me between 20 and 30% profit.

OK, two updates for you guys:

1) Just ordered my cabinets. Cannot wait to get these bad boys in and installed! I opted for the 12 piece set, versus the 14 piece set I originally posted. The 14 piece set was 18' across, and I just didn't want to commit to taking up that much wall space. The 12 piece is a much more manageable 13' across and should still provide me with PLENTY of storage:

50433_101_Primary01_1024x1024_0956ef97-18ac-4684-bacf-959202d914d6_1024x1024.jpg

And, hey, I can always add on to it down the road, if need be.

2) Garage is painted and man did it make a big difference:

Cool dude, thanks for the business. Can you post pictures your progress. I have lots of people asking questions about hanging the cabinets, your experiences would help.

Having pictures of the mounting progress would be great. I don't know if I could do it, I'd power through the cabinets. Then think later I should have taken pictures.

Is something up with the NewAge tracking system? It was working the first few times I tried it, but hasn't given me any info for roughly the last 3 days or so.

Edit: Nevermind! Just got a call from the delivery company...the cabinets arrive tomorrow!! Beyond pumped!!
