Thats not a major savings over what Costco has it for ($1900, including shipping)...

Any deal is welcome as far as I am concerned, let the members decided if they like it or not themselves.

Its an offer they have made for other groups, not a "big" savings, but many jump on it to save tax and shipping, plus membership to costco.

I already have a lift, but several people in my Porsche group are happy with the group deal when it was offered there.

Here is a link to what I believe is the MaxJax

Eric and I just sold the Nussbaum 8k and moved out of our rental space. We were going to get the Maxjax from Costco. This would save us about 225 bucks with tax, membership, etc... Is the 1850 firm?

todd, keep in mind that you get back a pecentage of your purchase with an executive membership.........combine that with amex and the fact you still have the membership for a year costco might be the better deal.........also if you don't like it , easier return..........i bought mine in the first grioup buy and now wish i had waited as i still haven't set it up.........

Tatra, interesting points to consider. I don't have an Amex, just V/MC with pretty good rewards. Also the Costco is about 40 minutes away when Sams Cub is 4 minutes away. We would only be buying it to save money. It would probably sit until this winter. Somehow,we got 1500 for the lift so the extra 350 is easier t swallow than 525.

In response to your concerns about my account/post count/etc, I am a newer employee who has taken over responsibilities of our web presence from a previous coworker and in doing such had to create new accounts on forums that we frequent such as this. But rather than focus on something so trivial as post count, what you should be focusing on is that we not only have done group buys multiple times in the past, but we have been in the business for over a decade with a rapidly growing customer base including a multitude of members here on this forum. If you doubt my credibility, please feel free to inquiry about your fellow wrenchers past experiences with us.

We believe in giving back to the customer as a way of saying thank you for your support throughout the years. It's not about making a buck, it's about making and modifying cars. We want you to have the ability and access to the tools, which is why we're willing to work with you guys. We don't deliver tools, we deliver satisfaction. I have spoken with the head hoss here and we can let this deal go for $1750 as long as we get five people interested.

I am intrigued but I have to admit that I am ignorant when it comes to the concept of a portable two post lift. Can someone educate me as to how the posts are secured during the lift?

When you buy the unit, does it include the bolts to bolt it down? I ask because you also sell the anchors, which seems odd, you think it would include everything to install. If not, you have to add $110 to the price which is kind of deceiving.

Yes the MaxJax comes with anchor bolts, we offer them seperately on our website for spare/replacement/etc. purposes.

Well the Maxjax is considered to be a mid-rise lift due to it's extremely low ceiling clearance, but still maintaining a max lifting height of 40"+ (also available with extensions). The portability comes into play because each post can be installed/uninstalled in minutes simply by wheeling them into position, securing the anchor bolts to the posts, and viola! This lift also has one of the smallest footprints in the industry for a two-post lift, so both of those are aspects to consider when the word "portable" is being used. The bolts themselves are usually what require the most time/effort to install because you have to have concrete 4-5" at 3000 psi and drill down and install the bolts and epoxy to hold them in place. That's a one time job though, the rest of the time you can easily break down/ set up the MaxJax in 15 minutes and store it away when you're not using it.

@GES

You were doing so well there, for a while...

You talk like that is a fleeting reality, when simply the only problem is that you and I aren't seeing eye-to-eye somewhere down the line. My question to you sir is WHERE on that line are you snagged?

There's a big MaxJack thread here abouts you should read.

You drill your slab and put in anchors.

Then use a nut to torque the anchors and this sets them in the slab.

When you are not using the jack, you unbolt and move the jack towers.

I see. That is something for me to keep in mind if I ever get my shop built. Thanks for the info.

Good luck on your sale.

As stated, I have only been with the company for a few months, and my predecessor only informed me where to post because they had gotten good results here before, not what was included in the package prior to my employment. As any company, however, we're always striving to take our products and make them better, whether that be from an engineering standpoint or adding anchor bolts in the package. My question to you remains -- where's your head at when considering this group buy? I saw your interest but then instant hesitation because we weren't throwing in over $300 of other shop gear as per our other promotional event for the same price. So is your issue price still?

Glad we could shed some light on the subject for you! Hopefully you will think of us next time after you have brought your shop from concept to reality. We also have a FB fanpage you can follow for other deals and promotions because we're running them all the time.

OK cool, good to know. Next question, the Maxjax videos I've watched on youtube indicate only two locking positions for the lift. I want to say one was 24" and the other 40", or somewhere thereabouts. Why are there are two? I think if there were a lot more, say every 3"-6" or so, I would be more inclined to seriously consider it. My garage is such that the tallest one would be too tall, and the one halfway up just seems like a waste, I can do that almost exclusively with jackstands.

I am intrigued however, I really like the idea of a portable (IE moving from one house to another) system. This would make working on my cars really nice, and is a good selling point for buying long term. This is the first system I would ever consider buying due to the small footprint.

You didn't answer my question.

Does the MaxJax come with the epoxy bolts NOW, it didn't fairly recently.

.

Might want to recheck your Ciphers there Jethro.

On your site, the Oil drain goes for $50-something, the light is $23, and we know what the workseats like that usually go for.

How'd you come to the $300 number?

Also, you never answered my epoxy anchor question???

Let me re-ask:

DOES THE MAXJAX NOW COME WITH EPOXY ANCHORS??

I'm interested in confirming this.

Sorry for responding late, I have other responsibilities here that I must attend to outside of this matter. You are correct on my mistake for calling out that number, I didn't have the prices on hand when I wrote my earlier post. But regardless, you are getting a surmountable amount of extra gear in that promo where that price has to applied to that specific promo, which is separate from the group buy.

For the locking positions, yes there are two, 24" and 40". The difference between using jack stands and a two post lift is that it gives you more access to the entire underside.

Yes, the MaxJax comes with anchor bolts, but the epoxy anchors can be purchased seperately as well.

All in all, the decision to jump on this deal is up to you guys. Should you be interested, we will take your call.

I don't understand why some are hesitant at the 1750 price? IIRC I haven't seen that low of a price on here before. Maybe to sweeten the deal and attract more buyers GES could offer some "discounted" accessories like the seat, 6" extensions, etc? :) I'm 95% in - PM me your number, GES. :bounce:

This group buy went for $1500...unfortunately I wasn't ready then.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28374&highlight=maxjax

It's not like I wouldn't love to get in at that price, but due to the fact that:

1) That was promotional when the item was "new" - assuming they have made significant or at least some improvements since and the cost of R&D has gone up.

2) That was over 2 years ago and we all know where the prices of commodities have gone since. :shocking:

Bottom line - if the 1750 is legit, I still think it's a killer deal and the best we'll see anytime soon.

I think if you were to offer a real deal - say, the $1500 deal that was initially offered to GJ members - you'd have a chorus of folks interested. As it is now, there are equivalent deals out there from Costco and such which also have their own perks (Costco executive membership perk, for one).
