 Looking good.

You work for bfd? You probably know Kevin from Crestline. I'm pretty sure you've stolen a lot of our guys.. Keith too..

Yeah, we got Kevin, want him back ? :lol_hitti

I'm not sure who Keith would be ?? Nickler? He's in Galion.

You guys lost a few CPD guys to the Sheriff's Office too.

Re: Garage Refurb

The new internet outlet on the garage side. The wireless router wouldn't work on this side of the garage.

On the other side of the garage where the wireless does work but the wired is faster. I could actually stream Pandora out here now if there's nothing on the radio.

I started thinking that I oughta try dump and reload the old computer and leave it out here in the garage. I'd probably buy a new monitor for it, like a flat screen, but could be a winter project.

Eric,
Nice teaser pic....Air, Internet and half skin....what else does a man need!

Seriously, nice job on the cabinets, they look all too familiar. Hope the "cave" is a bit warmer this season. Keep up the quality work and entertainment.

The fridge, microwave, radio and junkfood cabinet is just out of sight in that last picture.

Honestly, the chicks on the calendar are not that good looking. The calendar was given to me a few months ago and I'm glad it's December so it will go bye bye in a few weeks.

Ah no.. at least he would be the most in shape fd employee.. goodness...
Yeah Nickler.. I can't even count the amount of cops we've lost. Ontario steals the majority.. then Galion. . And sheriff dept. I try to stay in their good graces.. you know same team kinda thingbut we have new ones every month or so.. :dunno:

Since the wife works at the SO, I know those guys that have left CPD, Scott and Chris. A couple of good guys. It seems like Crestline has always been a steeping stone for police and fire. If they'd pay their guys a little more and treat them right, they'd probably stay.

Re: Garage Refurb

Did you run the internet cable from the house? Conduit? How far a run was it?

Yes, I ran it from the house.

The only area it is in cable is inside the house garage wall (coming down from the ceiling), out the wall and buried to the garage. Once it goes through the garage wall, it runs in one last section of conduit up to the roof rafters. Basically from garage ceiling to garage ceiling is in conduit.

The run from the router in the house to the switch out in my garage is about 125' give or take 10-15 feet.

Theybneed to pay all of us a little more.. or just cover more of our benefit costs. Which they are tossing around. Benefits os why we lost Steve Knapp. He took a pay cut to go to Galion yet still gets more in pocket in the long run, we have schedule issues too I guess. Lots of mandatory ot.

Best thread ever. I have read every post between last night and today and I am envious of your ambition and refuse to half-*** anything. I see so many people just cover up things in their quest to finish a project. Great job and thanks for sharing this for us all.

Maybe you have been looking at them too long. The glance worked for me, as did the rest of the pic, LOL.

At a glance yes, not bad, nice body but I wouldn't have bought the calendar for her. The good calendar is on the other side of the garage. :D

We can't just take your word for it...

Nice work in the shop. Did you keep track of how many hours it took to tape the checkerboard? Wow! The effort turned out great.

And the natural wood knob would have bothered me, but hinges would have ticked my wife off enough to make me fix them, if they were mine...

The other calendars get kept every year and the new ones put on top. The Cleveland Cavs calendar is going to get canned in about 2 weeks.

I didn't keep track of the hours I spent taping any of the checkerboards but if you count all three tops (the one I replaced) it was more than a couple. I probably could have spent it doing something else like surfing the 'net. :bounce:

I grabbed a picture just to show that the knobs are painted now. If you look closely, you may be able to see the Playmate calendar. :)

Re: Garage Refurb

Since Christmas is approaching, I haven't worked on the garage since the RAS bench is done but have a little project going on inside. Here's a few pictures of the toy box I have been making for the granddaughter for Christmas.

The main part of the box.

The lid is on, corner trim and bottom edging.

I made this top piece today, it's doweled and glued on.

It's going to get stained to match the bedroom furniture we bought her when she was born. It's a crib that turns into a foot/headboard and a dresser I think. As she gets older and doesn't destroy the box, she can put it at the foot of her bed and store some clothes in it or whatever girls packrat.

Re: Garage Refurb

Nice. Our grand childeren just have to do with a BIG plastic box.

I'm not really sure what Sophie uses right now, probably something similar. :dunno: AS the garage winds down, it allows me to start doing other things, luckily.

Eric, that will be a great Christmas present...good work.

That's ok, the daughters didn't get anything like this either. ;)

I need to do some finish sanding and grab a can of stain. I think I know what color I need but have to double check.

Just send a text, that'll work.

I finished the Concrete Underground yesterday, and your thread today. It's been quite a bit of reading and pretty inspirational, to say the least.

Keep up the good work.

Re: Garage Refurb

Eric...Nice job on the toy box. You're really getting into the woodworking craze lately it seems. Good deal!!!!

One question.....did you cut some air holes in the back of the toy box? If not, you may want to take a cordless and a hole saw, and do so. You do know kids have suffocated by getting in them and not enough air? I'd hate to hear that happened.

Have a great New Years, and be safe my friend. If you have to work, I hope you have a boring evening. That would be a good thing.

Re: Garage Refurb

Thanks Kevin.

There's enough air gap around the lid to allow air movement so I don't think it'll be an issue. I just came back in the house after spraying a coat of clear satin on the box and cleaning the gun.

I have always done a little woodworking here and there since high school. I'm just finally getting around to be able to buy some tools that make it easier and getting time to do things as other projects are winding down. I've been trying to pick up woodworking tools as I work on projects, it's something that I have put off for years.

Re: Garage Refurb

Eric nice job on your house and garage so far. Just spent the last day or so checking out your thread, you have definitely given me some good idea's for my own garage. I had a 30'x40' pole barn put up about seven years ago. Have been slowly turning it into a workable space, as soon I learn how to post pictures I am going to start a thread of my own. I also have a 86 mustang gt, hopefully some day I can get to some open track day's, so I can realize my dream of driving on a real race track. Good luck on your future project's.

Re: Garage Refurb

Thank you and make sure to get a build thread started of your pole barn.

The toybox is nearing the end. It'll get one more coat tomorrow and be done.

I'm not sure why the color changed inthis picture, maybe the fluorescent lamps ?

Re: Garage Refurb

One of the daughter got me a gift card for TSC for Christmas so I picked up a few odd ball things. Since my outside digital thermometer died a few months back, I picked up a simple one. Unfortunately, it's made in China so I added a nice American touch to it.

I added this to the "hanging from the ceiling thread" which was given to me by my cousin.

Now I just need to get this out of my garage where it can be put to use.

Re: Garage Refurb

I decided to change up my toolbox drawer liners. A few months back, I got tired of the thin rubber liner sliding towards the back of the drawer in my plier drawer. I cut a piece of automotive carpet and glued it in. It seems to have been holding up so I decided to do a few more. I bought some carpet at O'reillys and cut it out.

I also did a few of the front edges of the drawers too.

This is what I'm using or was till I ran out. It's 3M General Trim Adhesive (I know you can read lol) and the part# is 08088. I also picked up a can of their Super 77 spray adhesive at TSC to see if it would work too.

Re: Garage Refurb

Pretty straight forward, carpet to size, turn over and spray with adhesive. Clean drawer bottom, spray with adhesive and let get tacky.

Once both pieces are tacky, just place carpet inside drawer and smooth out with hand or block of wood.

The only issue that I had and not finished with this project is a ******* mistake. I cut a bunch of pieces for the drawers. . .. and forgot that the bottom box drawes are about 2 inches deeper. :headscrat
