Since the new 56" box was in place, I could move the Cman 20" drill press to it's new home along the wall. I almost wish I had a corner I could put this thing in. Being a larger model, it sits a little farther away from the wall than I planned. In the end, doesn't matter, it is what it is.

Then I hung up some garage art of old street signs. I've had these sitting around for several years and just never hung them up.

I remounted the Snap on cabinet today. I set it on a pair of 2x4 blocks for a simple height adjustment.

KIMG2280.JPG
In doing so, necessitated the moving of the broom, brush and dust pan. Funny how every little extra creates the readjust of something else in the garage.

I am glad to see you kept the Snap-On cabinet. It really turned out great. Goes well with the big boxes too.

I thought about turning it so it faced out but since I only put a piece of duct metal over those holes (on the wall side) I decided it could keep facing like it did before.

Idea for the drillpress: you could put it on a wheeled base and spin it 90deg in its place. When you need it, spin it back out. More work, but you've built caster bases before. Everything looks great in its place!
That is a thought.

Since it's deeper, turning it sideways, makes it longer.

I will have to measure the space I have to see if it would fit.

I picked up some bolts at TSC yesterday and already had some blue bins for fastener storage. The lock nuts were from Lowe's on a past deal.

KIMG2290.JPG

KIMG2289.JPG

After cutting them down, I realized they were not the same size as the ones I bought before. I'm pretty sure that all of them came from Menards.

Doesn't matter, minor detail.

The drawer above is starting out to be smaller faster storage. It will grow as time goes on. I still have my other storage on the other side of the garage. Eventually, these shall/may get combined.

KIMG2292.JPG

The 27" box will have I fine thread SAE bolts and such.

KIMG2293.JPG

The drawer above it, is becoming metric fasteners.

KIMG2294.JPG

Don't expect these to get filled up overnight. As I make a trip to TSC, I will slowly buy stock.

Right.... Who am I kidding ?

Bummer on the drillpress, but I suspect that large table it has is the reason.
The hardware toolbox will come along in time I'm sure. I definitely enjoy my toolbox hardware storage. This is another place where the 3d printer excels, but I understand avoiding another time-****. Don't forget you can deburr your modified bins with a deburring tool or razorblade. Both work well on plastics.
I'm enjoying the massive updates with all the toolboxes Nutts.

Looking back at the bins, I believe I know where the difference is. I think the smaller ones are from HF. Those come in a set with some smaller red bins.

The larger blue ones came from Menards and are Quantum. Those are made in the USA. A better made bin but the HF bins work better in the slightly smaller size.

I believe Menards has some red ones, in the correct size, in stock. We will see.

Depends on your needs, but I got some bins from Schaller Corporation for $1 each after the shipping and tax cost. They were the exact dimensions I needed for the bolt bins I currently have. Might be another option to check out.

I bought the number of individual bins I wanted to start with instead of buying their bundle kit. seems indivually they were cheaper than getting their bundle kit.

I've been eyeing these for a while for organization...

Those are the ones my Menard's has in stock as well. I looked at them today and they are slightly smaller that the blue ones from HF. I ended up with more from HF, as they fit the box like I want and blue is "in stock." Those Quantum blues would be out till March 10th if I were to order them .

Does TSC still sell their fasteners by the pound? I used them when I lived in Michigan.

Since I’ve moved to Phoenix I use Mark’s Nits and Bolts.
FYI, I don’t think they are open on Saturday

Yes, they sell buy the pound. . . . but the price has gone up in the last few years. I believe Grade 8 are $7.29lb at my local TSC. I usually buy Grade 5. They Grade 2 or whatever the cheapest ones are, are abut **** last time I bought some.

Funny thing is, I just check a few of the area TSC stores and between 6 stores, there's 3 different prices for Grade 5-8. If you have a few TSC stores local, you might want to price check "bulk bolts" online.
That’s strange, I just checked and the 4 stores in 20 miles from me has the same prices for bulk 8 and 5. $7.79 a lbs for grade 8 and $6.29 for grade 5.

I go know that the stores are stocked from different warehouses which can change a price from store to store or allow stock to be easily traded amongst stores.

Maybe this is causing the price difference? I believe, IIRC, our store was stocked from Columbus and a few of the other stores I price checked were stocked out of Toledo.

Local, grade 8 $7.29, others $7.79 and two others show $4.99.

I ended up with the HF bins because they fit better in the drawers and were in stock.

I added a plywood divider for easy reference between 1/4", 5/16", & 3/8".

KIMG2306.JPG

The larger fasteners, 1/2", 5/8" & 3/4" have a combined bin size. I think for the larger bolts this works out better. I did have to modify the layout and included 2 reds for washers.

I had these drawers in a Cman intermediate box full of my SS fasteners and specific trailer fasteners.
KIMG2307.JPG

They have made their way, a long with room for future growth into the 56" box as well.

KIMG2308.JPG

You can see all the red bins are labeled with a label maker. I went back out after supper to label all the blue bins too.

That's a task I'm not looking forward to but also want to get completed soon.
I didn't them them at first but had wrote on the bins with a Sharpie. The bad part was it was on the front of the bin, nearly invisible in the drawer. So the decision was made to go back and label them now before they were filled.

I did run out of DYMO label while doing it and had to put a new roll in. It was my last roll so after going in for the night, I ordered a 5 pk off Amazon. That should keep me in the good graces of the label god for a while.

More fasteners for the drawers.

KIMG2311.JPG

Between moving fasteners around, I started to take apart the plow project.

KIMG2295.JPG

You can see one of the springs is broken. A trip to the local JD dealership informed me that they are about $30 for a new spring...or was it $20 ?

Being the other one is from 2011, I'll replace both if I choose to use them.

I pulled the bucket off the FEL and test fit it. Unfortunately, something was astray. So it came back apart, clamped and tacked again.

Supper was about ready so I decided to weld out the top edge. Allowing it to cool while clamped should yield good results.

KIMG2330.JPG

The first weld, wire speed was too fast.KIMG2332.JPG

Second weld, I slowed it down and looks better....never claimed to be a welder KIMG2331.JPG
