I got a PM asking for more photos of the speaker cradles so I thought I'd post them here. The 1/2-13 eye nuts are from McMaster Carr and the rest is basic hardware store stuff. The wood was from a black locust tree I sawed up.

Thanks! They are very nice!

I just aquired a complete Sansui set up.
Everything but tune storage nd speakers.
T100 / C1000 / B3000 / SE1000

I know nothing about this stuff.
I was planning on putting them in my wifes garage sale for $30.00 each or $100.00 for all.
Is that fair?

Sansui stuff can go for a tidy sum, so I'd compare prices to the audio forums and eBay before putting them in a garage sale.

In my world, I got a vintage Sony gx57es on eBay to use in the bedroom, and that one is now going to the garage. I'll post pics once I get it hooked up.

Love the mounting pics. Gives me ideas for other things.

Thanks.
These were low cost to me and I just want to get rid of them.
I know they are worth somthing to someone that knows what they are.
If some one dosn't grab them in her sale I will look some where else.

I have 6.1 surround sound and a 55 inch TV in my garage. I had to buy a new receiver for my home theater because my old one doesn't have HDMI switching so I rotated it out to the garage. If anyone needs a really good Sony Stereo (2 channel) for their garage, I got one you can have for free.

No one will take it though, and it will be heartbreaking to put it on the curb as I have had it since 1995.

All cast off stuff that people have given me.

Funny thing is that I only really listen to the radio or the football game, I never really actually watch the TV.

I have all Klipsh speakers in the garage. People tell me they are good, but I am like... whatever.

So why does it matter what speakers you have in the garage as long as you can keep up with the football score?

wish I was closer, I'd take that old sony off your hands

Great job on those speaker cradles EricP. Really need to do something similar with mine.

Here are some pics of my garage system. Was running 16ga wire at the time. Have switched up to 10ga CL2 rated and the improvement was quite noticeable. Not surprising considering the long wire runs across the attic at opposite corners of the garage.

Deactivated Droid phone providing Mp3's. 5-way BSR speakers with sealed enclosure 15" woofers and tunable upward firing mid and tweeters. A friend runs an estate auction and did not like the speakers so gave them to me for free. Turns out he was not pumping enough juice into them to drive the big heavy woofers properly. Back panel says min 35-watts. Which is why I went and got myself a 1,500 watt amplifier. Problem solved. Gotta say. These speakers have some of the best subsonic bass I have felt in a home system.

Hey y'all! New on here and all these setups make me want to get back to figuring out a way to connect to a pair of vintage Jenson speakers. They have a 1/4" plug. I know there is a step down, but how do I split the input?

Any recommendations on a brand? There are so many!

Thank y'all in advance for the help! :D

Have a pic of what you're talking about? I've never seen speakers that didn't have either screw posts, spring posts, or banana plug style posts for both positive and negative connections.

Spent about $450 at New Egg for a Onkyo receiver and klipsch speakers.
Good enough for my still in progress garage project.

Is there a way to embed a youtube video here?

Re: Lets see your Shop Audio!

Was looking for a preamp to go with my Carver TFM 15CB amp and found the Yamaha C-50 at a yard sale. Along with the preamp I got the Yamaha T-70 Tuner, Advent Speakers, Yamaha M-70 Amp and Sony 200 disk changer, all for $35.

Here is a very early 40 gb iPod, Yamaha tuner, Sony tuner & Yamaha preamp. The Sony tuner gets better reception than the Yamaha.

Next we have a Carver TFM 15CB Amp and Carver SD/A-390t vacuum tube CD player.

View media item 52743
The top speaker is a Carver TS-M30 and the bottom is an Advent, couldn't find a model number. I think its a Legacy II.

Will have to replace the foam ring.

View media item 52745
Here is the Yamaha M-70 amp. The protection circuit is detecting a fault. Checked all the fuses and they were good. A capacitor in the power supply section looks like it may be leaking, can't check it though as I don't have the appropriate test equipment. It would be nice to get it running as it produces 200 w per channel.

Here is the Sony 200 disk changer, don't know what I'll do with it, probably give it away.

Four PV10 speakers, two for each room, powered by Peavey 5300 mixer. I was a Peavey dealer in a former life:)

Re: Lets see your Shop Audio!

Pete, that is a lot of amps and speakers! How big is your shop!?

I'll have a nice old 70's Pioneer SX-424 that I gave a little love and some LED upgrades waiting to go in when I get some shelves built.

Clock radio is awesome! I have an 80s boom box that still works well. Not much for sound quality but I did find a pair of 70's stereo speakers by the curb for nothing.

Re: Lets see your Shop Audio!

As much as I love my tools, and toys in my shop... I need some serious audio while I'm working on stuff.

Show off your audio rig...:rocker::rocker::rocker:

Here's my rig, still a work in progress but nearly complete:

Onkyo TX-SR 703 Being used as a pre-amp
Adcom GFA-545
Adcom GFA 2535
Adcom GFA-535 (x3)

Various Paradigm Monitor speaker (80's- vintage)

and to top it off a DIY built subwoofer:
http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/THT.html

Duplicate thread or not did you build the folded horn sub for your shop?
How do you like it for that space?
Did you use the cheap Dayton driver?

Re: Lets see your Shop Audio!

currently only running 4 amps, until I get more speakers.
Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony, Fischer and Realistic are the speakers.
Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer amps, but have a Rotell and 2 more Kenwoods...
most is from garage sales or curb alerts...it's so loud, you can hear it 1/4 mile up the road...thank goodness I live in the country...

Re: Lets see your Shop Audio!

My Garage Audio system does double duty. One pair of the B-speakers is in the great room and the other pair is out on the patio. Selector switches in the garage wall select none, either, or both pair. In addition, the system can feed the whole-house intercom.

The Sony STR-DE598 6.1 Channel AV Receiver has six speaker (no subwoofer) surround sound in the garage with five Realistic Minimus-7 speakers in the corners and center rear and a JBL center front speaker. The system has two Sony CDP CX455 400 CD changers and an iPod Classic 30gb docked. Also on the stack is a U-verse box and Samsung Bluray player to feed the 32-inch Vizio flatscreen.

One of the CD changers is for audio books and the other is for music CDs. I got rid of all the vinyl and 8-tracks years ago but still have a B&O Beogram RX2 on the shelf and a Realistic 8-track recorder in a closet.

I need to build a cabinet for the audio system and the emergency ice maker it sits on.

Garage sale special. Sony "gaming" surround sound with sub, Terk FM antennae, old school XM radio home dock with ext antennae. Fills the garage with sound just fine for < $40. Sitting on a 5 shelf SS baker's rack that I picked up from my company's auction site for another $40.

I told my wife that I'll be saving up for some new towers to replace my NHT2.5's. She said great and told me to get some bookshelves. I just laughed at her and said in the world of speakers and engines there is no replacement for displacement.

You can get some great value in vintage gear if that's your thing, especially on Craigslist, local garage sales, or sometimes thrift stores. I picked up this Pioneer SX-424 receiver for I think $19, and gave it some love and some new LEDs to replace the old bulbs, and it will be my garage radio. It has an aux-in jack for ipod or streaming from my phone, and I'll pair it up with some old mini-system speakers that will easily be loud enough in my little space.

You have several options. You can buy 1/4" adapters that go to bare wires...you could just cut the end off and hook up the two wires normally. Just make sure you get the polarity right.

You have checked the speakers right? Make sure they aren't shorted because bad speakers will blow up your amps output and that's not cheap to fix.

Here is a simple 1/4" to banana plug http://www.seismicaudiospeakers.com...yQYHClYwSKOZjCOSJSduL-I_2Ns1JVMKBIaAs7O8P8HAQ

I posted this on another thread before I was complete, now I'm 99.5% !
I wanted my stereo up out of the way- and secure.

I added the fans on the top but hardly need them, it runs cool enough.

The cabinets on the left and right are actually the same Craftsman 28" unit along the wall that ( due to spacing, I split in 1/2 and added some filler spaces around a wood frame.

....Not shown are the two Advent Baby II speakers I've had since 1989.
( Rebuilt the woofers when they fell apart after jamming so long. )
