Enough with all this "Made in USA" Garbage! :lol_hitti

Is it possile to have an almost fully stocked toolbox with only "Made in Canada"? To make things easier, you can include older items (ie if a Canadian company made pliers in the 60's you can include that)

Toolbox is easy: Gray (aren't some waterloo boxes Made in Canada?)
Wrenches, ratchets and sockets: Gray again (or some of the snapon stuff also used to be Made in Canada)
Screwdrivers: Fuller Pro 300
Power bits and insert bits: Paulin

What else could you put in a "Canadian Only Tool Box"?

I think you'd be fairly hard-pressed to fill that box without the older items & maybe not even then!

If the box itself wasn't Gray (and a Gray-manufactured box is relatively recent), it could be an SPG International, a Rousseau, or a Beach. Proto boxes are currently made in the old Beach factory in Smith Falls, ON.

An awful lot of the standard tools - wrenches, ratchets and sockets - to fill those boxes could be Gray, Gray-Bonney, Snap-on, or Proto. Older Mastercraft was once re-badged Gray too, so... Even Herbrand ended their days in Toronto and one can still occasionally find NOS on eBay.

Fuller has long made screwdrivers in Pt. Claire, Quebec. The Craftsman screwdrivers available from Sears here are Made in Canada, but are really also Fullers...
I have an old Stanley 100 Plus screwdriver that was Made in Canada, but I doubt they are still manufacturing here.

I've seen Canadian-made Fuller tubing cutters (as well as Craftmans I think are likely really Fullers)...

I've never heard of Paulin, and, although the company seems to be HQed in Milton, they don't seem to say they are made there. Likewise, the Robertson Company is also located in Milton and also sell their eponymous screwdrivers, but I also sort of doubt they are made here. Hope I'm wrong! (Tiger Woods could drive a ball from one end of Milton to the other, so I'm having trouble believing this small town could still produce two seperate screwdriver lines...)

Richard Tool could likely supply some scrapers for the box even today...

Stanley once produced hammers (and likely lots of other stuff) that might be of use!

You could measure stuff with an old Lufkin tape.

I think I'm done...

Jared, did you end up picking those up? It may be a long shot, but I'm waiting for a sale to happen at House of Tools...they're not cheap dead blows. :(

Richard can also contribute by supplying the box with good quality pry bars.

Many of Megapro's products are made in Canada (office headquarter is a few km's away from me).

Will and Craftsman (Canada) for screwdrivers.

Old Westward for sockets (and more?).

I think my first socket set (mid-80s) was Husky, made in Canada. I still have it somewhere...

Does Richard actually make those pry bars in Canada? I've never seen one in person...

Right! Megapro makes fine products.

Will and Craftsman (Canada) for screwdrivers.

How did I forget Will?! Anyone know what became of them? They made it to the early-1980s for sure...

Old Westward for sockets (and more?).

IIRC, Westward has never been made here; sourced from overseas from Day 1.

Really?! It would have to have been after 1986 (unless Litton ever manufactured in Canada - National Hand Tool certainly didn't) when Stanley was the parent.

Please post up pictures if you can dig the set out!

Hoser. We lube our ratchets with maple syrup up here. Not too good come wintertime...

This is a ransom note

CANADA- We have your tools

Leave 200 pounds of maple syrup and 2 cases of Molson on the U.S. side of the rainbow bridge and no one gets smelted.

You have24 hours :lol_hitti

Oh yes... We insist that the Molson be unused!!!

I've seen them in person and intend to purchase one or two. IIRC, I saw "Canada" on the handle.

I tried searching the web, but to no avail. Did they have another name? You can imagine what one would find from typing "will screwdriver canada" on Google.

Oh, then this is true: "we only export them Westward"

Are Canadian tools high quality?

Them's fighting werds! :lol_hitti

Absolutely! As with everything there are bound to be some "not so great stuff", but like Made in USA, Made in Canada does not sell due to it being the cheapest.
I've heard people put Gray's Sockets and wrenches in the same class as the big boys south of the border. Heck, Snap-on used to have a Canadian plant - I have a few Made in Canada Snap-On Sockets)

I have some Made in Canada Pipe wrenches. Very old but with no name on them. I also have a Snap On 1/2 combo wrench made in Canada. There are several other in my box too.

Don't forget Ford. They produced some tools in Canada. Pre WWII I think.

Probably Fuller, up until the 70s fuller produced a lot of Made in Canada tools. I still occasionally run Fuller pipe wrenches, tubing cutters, adjustables, and pliers that are made in Canada.

Neat thread, I've learned about a few Canadian manufacturers I didnt' know about before (Unitool.. and potentially Paulin though I'm also having a hard time finding any info on them).

I'd guess ETF - a company that was once based in St. Catherine's, ON. Might as well add them to the list!

And, at one point, (though I don't know when) Billings & Spencer manufactured in Welland, ON.

Looking at Paulin's website...

"All manufacturing facilities are located in Ontario, Canada."

So sounds like their screwdriver bits/etc (under the Pro-Tip name.. which I couldnt' find anymore info on) are made in Ontario.

Most of the other stuff they carry is fasteners/etc.. (which is also nice to know they are made in Canada).

I'm in H of T fairly often and haven't seen them on sale yet. They are pricey, but worth every penny IMHO.

They're usually out of stock when I'm in House of Tools. Was finally able to pick up a 14 and 20 oz hammer (last ones) Had spaces on the shelves for the bigger ones, but none there!

I was curious and e-mailed Megapro about their screwdrivers and which were made in Canada. I got this response:

"All Megapro ratcheting drivers are made in Canada

All other Megapro drivers are made in USA

All Amigo and Megamate drivers are made in Taiwan

All bits are made in Taiwan to Megopro specs"

So interesting stuff, I've yet to try any Megapro stuff.

I DO love my Picquic multi-bit driver though.. also made in Canada.

While riffling through some tools out in my work van, I saw I have a couple of Black Diamond files and a Black Diamond "file card & brush" that were Made in Canada. I don't know if that brand exists any more; I think it was folded into Nicholson...

I just found out that the Langley location here in Vancouver is ALSO shutting it's doors down! Is this going to be a trend? What's the situation over there in the east coast?

I haven't heard anyone mention Signet in this thread. I know that it's based in Pickering, Ontario...but have no idea if any of their tools are made in Canada. From the looks of it, it reeks MIT, but does anyone know for certain?
