Although I do agree somewhat with BlueSS and Grandad, I cannot agree with all of it. I think to some extent laziness comes into play. With the laziness, then came the embarrassment, then the seclusion, then the hoarding, then back to the embarrassment, then to the laziness, to being totally overwhelmed.
From what I see of the situation, Bill doesn't work and Julie does. Bill blames the economy as far as I can tell. It can't be drawing SS Disability for a bad back because he can drag a few hundred pound Bridgeport Ram into the garage. Or move a 'fridge from the back walk into the house, or carry 40 lb. buckets of water from the neighbors to use to flush his toilets, which by the way, is probably backing right back up into the basement due to the sewer problems. But none-the-less, Julie works and Bill doesn't. And the house wasn't always the way it is by the words of Bill himself. But Bill was supposed to take care of the house while Julie worked. Key word being SUPPOSED. But it's so nice to not have to do anything today other than run a sweeper before the wife gets home. Then it turns to every other day, then weekly, then every other week, along with the other little things that neglect to get done. Then it turns to someone wanting to buy tools, and drill presses, and multiples of things because someone got a good deal. But laziness kicks in, so just set it down until tomorrow, or next week, or next month.
But don't get me wrong, because Bill isn't the only one at fault. Julie enabled Bill I believe until Bill enabled Julie, now they just feed off of one another. When the **** get tough, they bail for a camping trip for the weekend because they NEEDED to get away from it and recharge the batteries. I would really need my batteries recharged too after taking out six trash cans to the curb every week.I'm really rolling my eyes here guys as that was a sarcastic remark. Then there are the weekend shopping trips to the Restore, Rummage Sales, Garage Sales, picking up a bandsaw from Craigslist, or EBay purchase, or maybe just another drill press that was found on a good deal. And things get laid down all for the fact that there is nowhere to put them.
But then let's back up a fair amount to when this thread started and what Bill titled it. The Grunge Garage. This whole thread started with a drill press purchase and Bill not having room to put it. I'd like to know what the hell he was going to drill holes in anyways? As of what use is a drill press?
But back on track and to today, Julie works, Bill buys. Julie works, and Bill says he can't do anything because it's raining. Julie works, and Bill is on the internet all day. And how do I know? Because some days when I am not at a doctors, or my wife isn't going through Chemo, I may just spend the day periodically on the internet myself and I see where Bill has been posting throughout the day. So see, it goes back to the laziness. It is always way easier not to do something, than it is to force yourself to do something. This world wasn't made on the grounds of not doing things, it was made on ambition and perseverance. Bill blames the economy on being out of work, but Bill was a carpenter and woodworker. I imagine that no matter how bad the economy is, there is someone to fill those positions. Fill them from having ambition and perseverance. Bill complains about dental and blames it on pop or soda depending on where you are from. I can guarantee I drink way more pop than Bill does and I still manage to go to the dentist. Just in comparison between Bill and I, I have managed to keep the house clean, work full-time, work overtime, avoid layoffs, and be the best in my field among other workers and doing it all with basically one arm among the other things I've had to endure. But in comparison for the ones that haven't read through everything, Bill flies hang gliders, was an Architectural Engineer and God knows what else. If you read back through Bills threads and I mean really read them, Bill has an excuse for every single thing that is wrong and can blame every single person but himself. Oh he might tell you that he knows it's his fault, but that is just a part of being a little bit manipulative, and looking for an easy way out of a situation. Quite a few people will do that. tell a person what they want to hear to avoid any conflict.
The fun and games were over when the people on this thread starting taking another direction. If you go back through and if one could actually graph it, it would look like the stock market charts. Up high one day then slowly dropping into oblivion. It started out as poor Bill, we're all rooting for you. And even Bill himself said it was fun cleaning things up. The fun was in all actuality just the attention. It kind of reminds me of a dog doing a trick. Tell him to rollover then give him a treat. No difference. "Hey I managed to take six trash cans to the curb"......"Good Job Bill, we're all pulling for you". "You can dooo-iitt"
Now if you look at the thread, Bill doesn't seem to respond to many people on here. It's not because of embarrassment, it's because of the true colors. The attention has turned negative, especially after Tony and Brian both got blowed off a few times. Both of those guys more than likely had way better things to do and may have lost money by taking their time out of their schedules to help an internet friend. They didn't look at Bill as a lazy person, but they looked at him as a fellow in need. And what happened? They both got **** on plain and simple. I'm not quite sure reading through the threads what Brian does, but I supposed he could have made some money doing something else with that time, Even spending it with family. The same with Tony. from what I take of Tony, he has equipment and he has customers. He also has bills he has to pay and depends on money coming in to do so. But both spent their time somewhere else. And what was the excuse. "Sorry guys, the battery in my phone was dead" Just another excuse. Not a good excuse mind you, but just another excuse. Busted pipes for a year...excuse. Backed up sewer for a year...excuse. No heat, well hell, blame it on the pipes. Not getting anything done today...excuse. It rained. When did rain ever stop anyone from doing anything in a garage or a house? So it's just one excuse after another to the tenth power.
Like they say, "If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck", I'm going to call it a duck. Bill, I still like you as an internet friend, but I'm going to call it as I see it. You're intelligent. I'm going to give you that. Truth be known, you probably have more smarts than me in a lot of things. I've seen that in some of your other responses in other postings. But it's time to come clean with some of the members. Maybe ask one of the Mods to lock out this thread all for the fact that it IS your thread. But above all, with all of the B.S. that has went on either behind the scenes in PM's or things said publicly, some people are owed an apology. And it doesn't have to be a public apology, but maybe one in a PM and I think you know who those people are.
I said it before and I went back on my own word about not posting in this thread anymore, but then you told me you need things like that to keep you motivated. Well it's not my job to motivate people. Like I said before, you are still considered a good internet friend, and if asked, I would to what I could to help you out, but right now it's just not in the cards for me to be a Motivational speaker or a Cheerleader. So I'm going to sit it out on the bench. But for your sake, I hope you get to keep your house and not get foreclosed on by getting your taxes paid in time, and I hope that you find a way to get heat and water and not keep asking the neighbor for his water. Remember with city water, come a City water Bill and sewage bill. Don't take advantage of someone else's resources so you can save money to go shopping.
