I just got myself one, and man was it heavy, me and my dad unboxed it and slide it on its side off the truck bed into the garage. The wooden packaging was the cheapest thing ever, you would touch it and it would break or the nails would come out so we didn't even try to carry it by that. Other than that its a decent sized box for the home hobbyist or beginner tech.

Now I need to buy a dehumidfier.

I might suggest covering the bare floor under your cabinet with roofing paper (tar paper, roofing felt, etc)- at least no moisture will be coming thru the bottom. Easy and cheap.

I Have had mine for a while now and got to say that it works pretty darn good for the price. I saw the new ones had a plastic slide mechanism to hole the drawers shut rather than the push in like I have.

I'm looking to buy this cabinet with the top chest, which in my area, is apparently hard to find. I found a HF store close to 50 miles away that will sell the display boxes, so I may go there tomorrow. Saves me the trouble of unboxing them, as long as they're in OK condition.

I bought mine last month for $349 with coupon. At $299, I'd be all over that. Not likely to be any cheaper in the forseeable future.

After I read the $299 price from NCChesehead, I headed down to HF in Omaha and they had them stacked up in the parking lot on sale for $369. Nothing special, but at $299, I'd buy two. Also have coupons for $349 & $359, but am waiting for a better deal. If I'm lucky, they will have too many left after this weekend and will need to move them because they don't have room to move them back into the store. Might have to stop back an hour or so before closing on Sunday to see if any deals can be had.

I should have gotten one when they were at $271, next time they drop to the $299 range I'll pick one up. I don't think the wife will even mind.

What was your process on how you painted them. I'm getting ready to paint my HF boxes and I'm not sure to sand it down to bare metal or do I do a quick sand and then paint. Boxes look by the way!

I just removed the silver strip along each top, degreased the faces and painted the faces with a satin black, no sanding needed.

Go for it!

I was looking at mine yesterday, it looks like the handle trim strips are crimped on, and I didn't really want to screw them up. How did you get yours off?

Went looking at boxes today. Started at Sears and looked at some comparable roll away's.

Anything comparable in size was around $500-600. Opened the drawers on all of them and they all felt tinny and flimsy. To be perfectly honest with everyone, they all felt like a POS. None of the Sear's unit' had liners either.

I then headed over to HF and checked it out. Wow, what a difference in feel and sound as soon as you open the drawers. It really feels like a quality unit. The double slides on the lower drawers were nice as well and it includes liners.

It was an easy decision to make. I'm going back next weekend with coupon in hand to pick it. Sure..the color and finish is not the best, however that is easy remedied.

bought my roll cab from them a few months ago. They are nice for the price. Everybody would laugh about them, they arent the prettiest, but they do work nice. Someday ill buy a Matco 6, but i can buy a lot of nice tools for the cost of one of those.

I have my top drawer of the us general loaded with about 400 sockets, and it doesnt like to roll very well, but it still works fine. Got the 7 drawer side cabinet, and tall locker as well. Wanted the top box but they are on nationwide backorder.

i honestly do not believe harbor freight sux. most of the employees ***** and complain, but cause they have no sales aspect. working the past 7 or so years in retail at a major "blue" electronics company, we has instilled into us the same selling practices HF is trying to coach its employees around.

1. esp's will keep the company from going bankrupt.
2. rewards programs, even at a yearly subscription cost, will keep customer loyality, and those customer are likely to spend 4x as much with those coupons.
3. the new coupon policy seems pretty fair to me. it was outrageous for a while, we all got fat, and they put a noose on it. stop crying. there are still lots fo good deals, and u can still use the coupon on 98% of what HF carries. i know its all cheap china ****, but there still a cost, and selling the roller cabinets at $271 is great for the customer, but not great for business. at 369 its still blows anything else even remotely comparable out the water. only true hd customers, who where really gonig to spend the money there in the first place, dont mind the new coupon policy.

but what i noticed from shopping there and the two saturdays that i worked there, there are no real SALES people.

I'd like to buy this roller cabinet & the top box to go with it, but the top box appears to be unavailable, at least in stores within 50 miles of me.

Does anyone have any insight as to when (or if) the top box will become available again? One store offered to sell me the top box from the display on the floor, but I couldn't get there last weekend. Probably gone by now.
