Housey, where are you from? Your forum name is interesting, as a lot of South Africans small talk words (something that drives me nuts!)... so I was just wondering if that is where you're from? Also, a quick search revealed that you mentioned tools from there.

Also, I assumed here because you're not familiar with coupons, which is also not common there.

Close but not quite, I'm in Australia. That said about 80% of my work colleagues are south african or zimbabwean and I lived there for 10 months

Ahh yes, good ole down under. Been there several times, love it... almost moved there (flip of a coin, lol).

I was born in South Africa thats why I figured I'd ask.

My local stores get a little peazed when they can scan a code. I guess its to much effort to press a few more keys.

Let 'em get peazed. It's their policy that if the code won't scan that the code is to be entered. It's not your fault they have to do a little work.

Bought a 20 gal Parts Washer yesterday - on Sale for $99.00 - used the $20.00 OFF coupon from Sundays Paper {St. Petersburg Times}... so $79.00 + tax. decent looking unit.. we'll see how long the pump works... I think I paid something like $70.00 for the last solvent pump I bought about 10 years ago...

FWIW,

I went to the local HF and tried to use the free flashlight cupon. They were out of stock.
I did use the 20% off coupon, but was told that "In the future the downloaded ones would NOT be honored."

They appear to go in cycles, like maybe a month or two on certain things.

But yes, some they push constantly - like the floor jacks, tool chests and carts.

10 years ago you saw the 115pc TiNi drill bit set on sale every month for like $30-35, and the 440 & 880lb hoists on sale for like $60 & $75 every month for a year or two.

I never get emails from them. I signed up about 2 months ago and double checked my profile again a month ago but still have never gotten an email. I do get the paper fliers in the mail.

I noticed on the last flier I got the coupon prices were higher on the same items than the coupons in Hot Rod magazine.

I just went to look for the desiccant dryer & an auto drain for my compressor! Neither one is listed anymore, where I had bookmarked them, & I can't find either on the HF site anymore.
Can anyone tell me if these items have been discontinued or just moved & I can't find them.

Can someone please enlighten me to HF's out of stock policy?

The Indian guy in Customer service wasn't very clear.

If I have a coupon for an item that is out of stock in the store, they won't give me a rain check for the coupon price.

If I place an order online or over the phone and try to use the coupon code on a backordered item, will I get the item for the coupon price when it's back in stock, or will the item be permanently removed from my order?

It seems like the good stuff is always backordered.

BTW - I read a lot of bad reviews about the auto compressor drain kit before it was discontinued (maybe that's why). I picked one up on clearance for about $2 a couple weeks ago, but haven't installed it yet.

Earlier this spring when I went to pick up my motorcycle lift with a coupon they were out of stock. I had no problem getting a rain check. When I called to check they were in stock and they agreed to hold one overnight until I could get there with my truck.

read the fine print on the coupon. if it says while supplies last, you will not get a rain check. if not, they should give you one.

HF has no control over how many customers decided they want to buy the same item as thats on those coupons... and it obviously stated... while supplies last...

same way with the free items...

I would understand that if they are discontinued items or liquidation buyouts like Big Lots, but to limit the quantity available of normally stocked merchandise? They limit the quantity you can purchase with the coupon, so why no raincheck on normally stocked items?

in post #332 at the bottom of the pic there is a piece of a coupon for a 10/2/55 amp battery charger. I need that coupon, price should be 25.99. There is another coupon for the same item at 34.99 but I'd like to get it for 25. Has anybody seen a coupon for the hammer and dolly set?

Batter Charger W/ Engine Starter item #66783, coupon code 57086167 for $25.99, expires 8/19/11. I can't scan for beans for some reason, but that's the code.

I've had one for over a year, and love it. Don't expect it to jump start a dead car though - there are larger charger/starters for that. 55A just isn't isn't enough to start a car with DEAD battery, but might help with a LOW battery. This charger/starter has plenty to start either of my lawn tractor/snowblowers (9 & 18hp) in the winter with a dead battery. Definitely a "PASS" in my book.

my 20+ year old sears charger doesnt seem to do the job any more, and my battery tender just died. I might just get a booster pack, as well, but i still need a charger, cause I do the electrolytic rust removal thing often.

Any one know anything about the "auto drain"?
I will have to find out if I can still get one of the desiccant dryers. Hopefully on sale!

Steve

Don't bother with the auto drain. I bought one, and I gave up after having to replace every fitting, and it constantly leaking. I even went to prestolok fittings and copper tubing, and sealed everything with rectorseal, but it is still a piece of garbage. Good idea, but poor execution

I've "discovered" something those of you with a HF store nearby probably already know - just because the website says an item is backordered doesn't mean the store doesn't have them. I missed out on a few things in March & April for which the coupons were good through the end of that month, but were backordered when I placed orders online of over the phone.

I've been wanting the 13pc 1/2" drive impact socket sets in inch and metric, but have been backordered most of the month on the website. I went to the store in Columbus, Ohio last Friday to pick up a couple other things, and there they were, hanging on the shelf. I called just before closing the night before to check stock on some of the things I wanted, but was told the impact socket sets were out of stock.

I also wanted the "Super Duty Air Hammer" that has been on backorder through the website, which they had a bunch of in the store. There have been been several other items the last few weeks, like the 24" adjustable wrench and 16pc 1/2" drive socket set that were backordered on the website, but the store had plenty in stock.

Yes, but it's kinda small - mine are 5/8".

And I'm not sure the retracting mechanism would weather well.

It's not meant for a garden hose, it's meant for water in a shop. You local oil change shop has water in hose reels for topping of radiators, cleanup, etc.
