And the old one
I can't find a picture any where.
The old one was wider, and I understand heavier. It had the push side to side speed and direction control like a IR 231.

I never owned the old one but I have this one and I love it. I feel it uses less air then my old impact that is only 250 foot pounds.

I've been looking at the HF 12" SDCMS for months because as soon as the ground thaws we'll be starting a new 24 x 32 x 12 garage. Below is the best coupon that I've found. While researching it I found that Menards sells the same saw under the name Performax (different color plastic) with a 2 yr warranty for $279. Think I'll pay HF the extra $19.99 for a 2yr replacement plan and save myself $129.02.
Some of the reviews that I've read complain about it needing adjustments out of the box, but what brand wouldn't. Besides, you are going to take the time to check everything, anyway. The other 2 complaints are that you should open the gear box and add some grease, since the Chinese children are a bit conservative with grease and that the belt runs hot. I looked into the belt issue and found that while HF offers no replacement parts for this saw, the manual does give the generic belt part number (10PJ560). The number interchanges with Gates, Goodyear, etc. 220J10.
Easily available online from Amazon, eBay, and V-Belt supply from $9 to $30.
These are a common belt also used on treadmills.

What magazine or paper did that come from? I get HF's mailers every month and the best price they had was $42.99. I know they print better deals in magazines and newspapers than they mail to me. It might be worth subscribing to the right publication, particularly something like "Family Handyman" even though most of the articles would be below the ability level of most people on this forum.

I Have one, never bothered to adjust it much for anything, would probably not try trim work, but works just fine on dimension lumber

Question: Can you use a 25% off coupon on US General Pro tool chests?

(I'm sure this has been asked a million times already but couldn't see while searching).

I'm specifically looking at the 26" wide, top chest and bottom roller cabinet combo.

Thanks

Yeah, it really ***** HF excludes most all of it's big ticket items from the percentage off coupons.

Thanks for the reply and info.

I picked the saw up yesterday and the blade appears to be parallel to the slide
so I won't have to make the most difficult adjustment. The fence is a bit off according to my framing square, but that's an easy one. Had to tighten a number of loose nuts and bolts. I also plan to replace the sorry looking blade with a Diablo. Home Depot has them for $36 and I'll try flashing a Harbor Freight 25% coupon to see if they will take it. Since they a literally across the street from each other, there's a good chance they'll honor it.

I would recommend to stay well clear of any Diablo blade sold at Home Depot now made in china. Since Diablo is no longer made by Freud (Italy) they have gone way down hill and not worth the price they charge for them.

I would recommend Oshlun blades on Amazon, one of the best blades for the price for the price and excellent quality.

Having said that, 12" miter saw blades are pricey compared to a 10" size blade.

HF does have one worth trying ($24 w/disc. & good reviews) and probably works way better than the HD Diablo blades:

Your best bet is to use a blade with a negative hook angle with your sliding saw.

I've been lurking on this site since probably highschool and only registered to look at pictures awhile back but decided I could be of some use in the HF threads since I'm there a few times every week and spend $,$$$ there. I saw a Thread somewhere for rating HF tools somewhere that I could add dozens of reviews to.

As far as the jacks go I would recommend the 2 1/2 ton over the 3 ton any day. Unless you absolutely need that 1/2 ton it's not worth it. The 2 1/2 is usually $10 more with coupons but gets lower than the 3 and also raises higher than the 3ton. It is lighter and easier to maneuver.

I have one 3 but needed something lower and got the 2 1/2. since then I haven't bought another 3ton and now have 3 or four 2.5s running around. I use these to lift riding mowers, machinery and up to 1ton trucks for maintenance, even skid the skid steers.

Orionrising or macgee - got a question for you.

These parts came in a little bag with the saw.
Do either of you have any idea what they are or supposed to be used for?
They are not mentioned in the "manual" (if you can call it that) or the parts diagram.
Maybe I could mount them on the stand somewhere to hold my index fingers when I cut them off?
One pleasant surprise, the saw came with an extra set of brushes.
Does HF seriously think it will last long enough to need them or do they eat brushes?

I haven't needed any of the brushes but at least they are stockpiled.

PS on many small motors I've had bearings go out first.

Unfortunately I wanted specifically item #61253. Your code is for non-low profile jacks. Even the two 3-ton low profile jacks HF has are not equal. #61253 has a fraction inch better spec in both lowered and raised positions. Maybe latest updated version?

Anyway, I just went on Ebay and found a coupon for that jack #61253 for $71.99. I always thought making money from selling non-1-time-use coupons is kind of a ******* thing to do.

Well this seller didn't block out the bar code completely, and knowing how bar codes work, I just photoshopped it a little and scanned it with my cell phone.

And the coupon code is: 81119069. :D

I have no idea what those hooks would be for but your suggestion to use them to display your index figure is probably better than just letting them sit the random tool drawer.

I know I recently saw a 25% coupon which if read closely, DOESN'T have printed in the exclusions, the towable ride on trencher, item 65162. I was surprised to see it, as I was begining to consider purchasing one. Now I'm in need and can't find that specific coupon. Any help out there? Make an old man happy. Thanks.
