That's my thought also Terry, I'm going to install a new unit while I'm still able to, then maybe it will outlast me.
I talked to a couple of my hvac buddies about the best brand to buy. They can't decide on a good one!
If Goodman produces one, I'd go with that. I've had a lot of luck with their HVAC products.

I have an air ease unit now, the discussion we had was that Goodman, air ease, and about a half dozen others are all made at the same factory so basically your getting the same unit and the craftsmanship is definitely the same. I like Goodman, I installed a bunch of them when I was in the biz, my boss pissed me off and I quit the fab shop and went to work for an hvac buddy of mine for about two years, I'm too big for crawl spaces so I had to go back!
I'll probably replace this one next year.

It's 3:30 and the power has been off since 5:00 am, I guess I'll have to get the generator out and start plugging in refrigerators and the deep freeze

My last heat pump was a Goodman.
It was still working when I had it replaced.
The problem that I had was that the hvac contractor that installed it wasn't exactly well versed in heat pumps.
The air handler inside was a Lennox, and he couldn't get the two to communicate.
It worked great until the temp got to 0*F or lower, then the backup heat wouldn't shut off, no matter the temp setting on the thermostat, or even turning the whole system off at the thermostat.
I woke up one night to an 80+* house and the system still blasting hot air.
I went to the mechanical room, it was probably 120* in there.
I had to shut off the breakers to shut it down.
We lived with it like that for a couple of years while the contractor tried to fix it.
Since it seldom gets below zero, it's hard to diagnose the issue.

Close to 9 years with the new system, all Lennox, no issues.

Different contractor, BTW!

I have a really good friend that works as a field technician for trane he works in commercial applications, he even said to use Air-ease or Goodman for residential,

Grizz, we don't have too much problem with that here, there are literally around a dozen kids that come from Ocoee to my neighborhood through an abandoned fire road every afternoon when they get out of school, a couple of passes every day!

Thanks gal and guys! Wow!
It was a busy day yesterday, I was still putting stuff away from the power outage, 33 hours, I did finally get the well working. Had to mow, then we had a business meeting at the lodge. We got a new yoki Chinese buffet, it opened this week so eight of us went for mother's day dinner today.

Well, no! I been so busy lately I can't see straight!
I mowed the grass this morning, went to Donnies and tore apart an electric trike we are working on.
20240520_121017.jpg
When I got there the chain was on the left, the motor was running backwards so we flipped it from CW to CCW and rewired the hall effects switch to match! That's when all
hell broke loose!
This is what happened when you put a load on the motor. That's not slipping, that's the motor reversing every .5 seconds, that didn't work very well.
So we put all of the wires back to stock,
20240520_153314.jpg
Then we flipped the axle, motor, brake, and motor mount to a right side chain. We test drove it and it runs 30 mph with me on it. So tomorrow we're going to make an enclosure for the battery and get it sent to powder coat.
Then I went to the lodge and sprayed 6,000 sq ft of ceiling part of it is white and part is sky blue. I think I earned my Scooby snack for today!

In between we have been building a 50s tribute trike, the baby moons will be here tomorrow.
How have you been?

They are golf cart tires and wheels.
We have a tire shop near me that sells custom golf cart wheels, we got the first set from him, the black ones were take offs we bought from him, blasted and coated them, we have now found them on Amazon cheaper and they deliver.

Well today I got to work in my shop! I have been deep into building trikes since around February, we are at a good place with them so now I am going to redo my shop.
20240528_182351.jpg
This was a machine skid, the factory that got the 2 machines was going to scrap them, Donnie snagged them and gave me one.
20240529_193618.jpg
I bought a 4'x 8'x ¼", 330 lbs, plate for a top. I had to bring in my engine hoist, weld a chain hook to the center of the plate to lift it into place, it was a beast.20240529_172723.jpg
I'm going to add several receivers around the table for different fixtures.
20240529_172709.jpg
The first one will be the vise, I cut a mounting plate from some 1/2" plate.

20240529_185631.jpg
Did a little grinding and a little welding, I need to go under the table and add a gussets and more weld! Later.
20240529_192155.jpg
This lock bar was bent really bad, I tried to straighten it but that didn't work so well! The other one is missing.
20240529_185424.jpg
I found a bolt, I cut me two new bars, put them on the lathe and drilled and tapped holes in the ends for 1/4-20 bolts.
20240529_192253.jpg
Now I have two of these! Nice.
20240529_193444.jpg
I found a can of metal flake blue! Done.
I'm going to try to work in the shop tomorrow.
Almost forgot!
20240529_143227.jpg
I smoked a chub of bologna for lunch while I worked on the bench! It's nice having a smoker in the shop.

I bought this mower at an estate sale a couple of weeks ago, it's a 2011 that didn't get much use before it was put in storage, the man running the sale tried his best to get it running, he flushed and cleaned the fuel system, changed the filters, changed the oil, but couldn't get it running.
20240504_175135.jpg
I try to go to these sales on the final day, they reduce the price by 75% most of the time.
20240504_175126.jpg
I got a really good deal on the mower.

20240527_185455.jpg
I bought a new carburetor on Ebay for $12.00.

It was listed on marketplace for 30 minutes.

Its time to remodel so I am sorting everything in my shop, I have an enclosed trailer that I'm going to park in front of the shop to load the loosers in, everything I don't need will be considered a looser. I did this about 5 or 6 years ago and took everything to the Hwy.411 yard sale, it's in October.
I did some tool sorting today and I found around 20 pipe wrenches, I have been picking them up at estate sales for years, I only pay a couple of dollars for them as I usually go on the last day of the sale.
20240530_170537.jpg
I said all of that to say that I'm going to clean and paint them and hang them on a board in the main shop.
20240530_170724.jpg
I'm fond of certain tools, I don't know why but they just speak to me! Weird I know.
20240530_170745.jpg
Anyway I saved this 14" Rigid, it got wire wheeled and painted today, along with about 6 more!
I have a lot to do by October!
