Went to the turkey shoot this morning! Etowah lodge sponsors a shoot every Saturday morning until December. I won one round out of eight.
Got home around noon and helped the bil make some equipment for a barn degree that were sponsoring on October 25th. Its something he has talked about doing for years, and finally got the chance. I told him I was too busy to take on another yearly project!
Donnie is working on his Dad's 52 Chevy, it has been LS swapped and hasn't been running lately, it keeps eating injectors!

We're going estate sailing! tomorrow, there are four sales in cleveland this weekend.

I got out this morning and started cleaning the yard, time to cut the banana trees down.
20251021_125852.jpg
If the frost hits them they turn into a black greasy pile, so I make sure they are gone before that happens. Then it started to thunder real loud! So I hightailed it back to the barn before the rain started, I almost made it!
Now its nap time. Not sure about the rest of the day!

They arnt as bad as they look. If I didnt have the grapple on the tractor they would be a big pain in the ****.
Pat took a sawzall and dropped them yesterday in about five minutes. They actually remind you of celery, there 90% water, so one whack with a machete will drop them. Thats how they harvest bananas, just drop the tree/ plant.

Im not a big fan of hood scoops except for the L88 corvette!

I absolutely love the L88 hood but only on the vette.
Jim, Liane won't let me put flares on mine but I am also a fan of the L88 hood. When I was at Eckler's after a Titusville event, they had one they screwed up (forgot to put the mounting plates in) so I picked it up for a song. Cut the plates out of the original big block hood.

I see a '73 fender vent on a chrome bumper car -- looks great. I opted to hacksaw the vertical bars off my '72 vents. Kinda matches the Eckler's bar grill.

I thought I saw somewhere that once the tree produced you were supposed to cut down the whole tree? Or maybe it was just the branch the bananas grew on. The memory is the first to go.lol
You cut the tree down to get the bananas, so you don't have to climb it. The trunk is like a stalk of celery, it won't support a climber. We cut ours every year before a frost. If they get frozen they turn into black slime!

It was a 427/475HP 4 speed. It had 12" wide radial T/As on the back, I had to flair the rear to cover the tires. Hand made the front end using parts of a Pontiac sunbird, grill and headlights. The only body part that was still 1969 was the doors. It was too fast and too much torque, I exploded several clutches, so I put a turbo 400 out of a 1 ton truck in it to calm it down a bit. That didnt work so well, it was still uncontrollable but at least I wasn't changing clutches and pressure plates every other week! I do miss the old girl.

I thought it was the second thing to go.
When y'all remember let me know too!

I did a similar Sunbird grill and lights to my Fiat X-1/9. They made for a much better driving experience.

It may have been a brute, but there's something sweet about those Vettes. The GM designers got that one right.
They were the best looking thing on the road back then, My biggest problem was hook up, thats one reason I went with the wide tires.
It looked so mean, it looked like it was doing 100 mph standing still.

My doner was around an 86 ish!
I cut those large pans off and flipped the grill upside down. The adjustment screws were too short so I had to make longer ones. At first it looked like Jack Elam!

I got some bad meds! Just my luck, I take something to feel better and it kicks my ****!

I made it to Alabama on Saturday. Got my new Kohler generator. Then went back to bed.
20251102_145209.jpg
I had to get out and do something, so I cleaned my sewing machine, I took apart everything on it and washed it down with lacquer thinner, blow dried it and oiled it really good. I have been reading and made a few adjustments.
20251102_145253.jpg
The thread still seems too tight and the stiches are still puckering a bit.
The adjustment is out as far as it can go so Im calling for help.

Thanks Kirk, its that mother of nessisety thing, if I want it I have to make it. Lol.
I unloaded the generator and stashed it on the basement patio.
I went to three different hardware stores looking for stove pipe for the wood burner in the fab shop, it has a hole in it so its time to replace it. I won't get it done before I go but it will be here when I get back. Going to change oil in Pat's Explorer, go see the Dr, and go to Sam's tomorrow, I need supplies for Florida.

Stove pipe is one of my periodic frustrations, in that different brands can be slightly different, and not play well together. A hand crimper can be quite helpful. Good luck with your projects. Always interesting to see what you are up to. :coffee:

Put the second coat of mud on the bathroom this morning. Its coming along nicely, maybe Ill remember to take pics tomorrow!

Spent the afternoon in my shop.
20251111_162058.jpggot the new rack mounted, it got me excited, so!
20251111_165447.jpg
I went ahead and mounted the rest of the front end.
20251111_174323.jpg
Installed the drums and preloaded the bearings. Ill have to set the toe after I get it back onto its wheels.
20251111_174906.jpg
The rear crossmember has some holes in it and a funky hitch. I like to put class three reciver hitches on everything, that way my winch and other accessories like my weed sprayer will fit everything. So it got cut out also. Donnie said there was a hitch laying behind the powder coat shop that I could have, with a bit of luck, it will make a crossmember also.
Going to the Doc in the morning, then coat number three on the mud, and maybe Ill get to play with the Mule again!
