Looks like some of the snows we had the last few years. This is the first year where we're even close to normal, and it's still not quite right (too warm in December and January).

Any gutter/drainage issues outside at that corner Jim?

Our house only has one corner of the basement at full depth, got minor water once. I found that the front gutter was plugged.
Buncha oak trees in that corner.

My 3 yr old LaZboy recliner was making a noise for a week. I gave it a checkup on the lift... oiled a few spots and found the articulating neck pillow has 2 middle vertical supports... with one that "broke off" the upper frame. A few clamps... drill bit and well placed 2 1/2" screw... repaired the damage and appears to be holding.

Maybe you just need a lube job.

The chair is still under warranty but no need to call someone in for a repair that I can do better than they can. Besides... they don't do their repairs on the spot... they take it to their shop... leaving me without something to fart into... It would have to be something I can't fix with my shop.

nice fix on the chair!!

can you post up the sealer or can of stuff you are using to seal up the leak in your basement or shop wall?

I need to one day clear out my parent's stuff in their basement (maybe one wall at a time) and see if I can dry up theirs from the inside cause digging around the outside is a huge job by hand cause it's up on a little hill where a backhoe can't get at it.

your gazebo looks like it will be awesome and nicely made so you can get it powdercoated and bolted together after it is.

I am really jealous of all your skills. My brother is a classic “Jack of all, but master of none” guy, but you seem to be one of the exceptions to the rule.

We dont get much snow here and I'm glad of that. I spent 43 years in Chicago so mostly I'm poking fun at the weather here :grin

I'm kind of baffled at this corner, it leaked quite bad a couple of years ago but we finished construction and put up gutters last year that helped a lot. The downspout is drained 25' away over a bank and there is a 4" perforated tile with a sock on it going the full leinght of the front of the house going downhill away from this corner. I'm thinking about digging down at a slope from the house to the drainage tile and putting down a sheet of plastic to direct the water to the drain. I am having trouble believing that there is that much water on that corner :headscratch

I think mine was a gas leak also. It's all better now.

This is a shot in the dark, I thought about getting flex seal but settled on this product. I tried block sealer but it bubbled.

Thank you for the kind words, my knowledge was created out of necessity, I couldn't afford to pay people to repair or make things so I had to learn how to do it for myself and I always put myself in a job where I could learn how to do something new. I have never considered myself the master only the student. I do have fun with it all.

Terry, Tell Mrs Fan... Mrs Pines used to think that... now She realizes there is no such thing as too secluded. With certain age comes the point in life when you don't want to be near people. To escape... I'm just freakin glad she tolerates me still.

Jim: i'm hearing a lot of members talking about BUSTED PIPES. doesn't that remind you of maybe how you (for sure me) started to become a PLUMBER.

I'm not sure any of us thought we could do some task until we were FORCED TO DO IT.

as far as I can tell you are able to do almost anything so keep up the good work!!

I like that cabin, these days and times being a little isolated isn't such a bad thing.
I didn't describe the (clay tile) properly, it is a 4" corrugated perforated plastic pipe with a sock on it,it is about 10" below grade. I put it in thinking it would draw water out of the area and move it down the line. The whole problem (you hit spot on) is that in 1960 when they built the basement they did not waterproof the block on the outside.
To waterproof from outside it would need to be dug out by hand or remove the sidewalk to access it with a backhoe. I have thought about injecting the block with closed cell foam, I dont think they are filled.
I could deal with how small of an area it is, it never puddles on the floor but Pat dosnt seem to be able to let it go!
Next I'll concrete the flower bed and put a bench there, LOL.

i'm not sure you saw my previous post cause we tend to post about the same time often. anyway i agree the cloth covered pipe isn't the best fix and digging it out and putting either paint or even a rubber substance type product you sort of mentioned might be the best solution. that said who wants to dig out the dirt next to their foundation.

keep up the great work cause it's always interesting checking in on your doings.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I will beat this, I need to get this area done for Pat,
She wants a canning kitchen in that space. More of an industrial space with stainless steel instead of wood and formica so she can can and dehydrate food, and a place where I can put my wine making tools and get that clutter out of the main house.
Yes we seem to post at the same time.

How is your weather doing, it snowed about 1/4" yesterday and is raining like crazy right now. Hope you and the Missus are well.

My other neighbor called and asked if I could help him with his 66 Chevelle frame. He has a rag top and it had a hardtop frame put under it several years ago and they are not reinforced as well as the convertables were. He found a frame out of an El Camino it is the same as a rag top but the tail section is three inches longer.
20210219_164119.jpeg
Got it on the table
20210219_164151.jpeg
Cut the rear section off of the hardtop frame
20210219_164142.jpeg
Lined them up to make some cuts
20210219_181907.jpeg
Cleaned the frame and made some marks

the next one sounds like MY KIND OF TRUCK. old look with better than average frame and engine and ...

good luck (all that practice in your earlier life allows you to be luckier than most in my opinion).

Yes, Pat and I rolled it out on hwy 64 one night. The tongue broke on a trailer we were pulling and you know the rest of the story.
It was a beautiful truck. Pat always joked that I owed her another truck so I told her it would buff out.
She started out wanting our 79 vette put on the chassis but I found the 64 C10 and she agreed.

There was a mess on the left front so I wound up cutting a section out
20210220_162941.jpeg
It had several torch cut spots and was soft
20210220_172042.jpeg
The piece I cut out
20210220_171644.jpeg
Finished
20210220_171651.jpeg
Then the left frame horn was rolled up and had a torch cut hole in it also so it got heated and dollies out and the hole welded shut

Dalton was here for a while helping and he mentioned that Scott wanted the frame powder coated gloss black.
I will recommend to Scott that it be done in Matt black or every time you touch it it will leave swirl marks.
Gloss is not good on a driver.

Looks like a big project going on there Jim. Nice work as always.
I am finding it harder to get excited about working on cars any more now days but I like it after they are done. I still have 3 cars 1/2 finished that need my attention

Thanks Kay, it was something I promised that I would do for a neighbor.

Don I'm in the same boat with you, I used to think that all I wanted to do was build trucks but I cant take the bending and crawling anymore. Like you I think I'm going to finish the ones I have started and call it good enough.

Ok... can this one be my truck... (in name only) ??? I LOVE IT. Nice frame work. The old truck will look weird with those 1995 rims... but would still love to see the weird. Probably have to widen the wells for them to fit. Those old trucks used NARROW assed tires. Damn nice.

I will wrestle Mrs Jim if need be...

I agree with you, the gloss black will never look good after the first time it gets dirty. I'm waiting for warm weather to wash the Girlfriend's frame to see how the satin black worked out.

Ok Pines she is 5' 3/4" tall and knows she is 10' tall. Here is a pic of her and my ex wife,
1613957904387_20190412_203416.jpg

This is what she wants the 64 to look like, no skinny tires, no Tahoe rims. It will be 454 big block powered. Pinesmobile

I'm going to finish the volunteer project at the animal shelter this week and get the gazebo moved, the rain has finally stopped so they are going to start getting the big stuff blasted starting monday.
Time to knock some more **** off of the todo list.

It didnt take much to get him to change his mind, when I told him about swirl marks it was all over.

Pretty sure she can take me... I'm not tall, ... I'm more kind of "ball" shaped... so she would probably just roll me down the hill...

I'm done with that size tires... been there, done that... In my dreams... It will be mine... With a few inch lift and 12" wide tires... flat black paint with black trim... denim interior... black leather headliner...
