We had a great car show today, it was raining when I left the house but it stopped and things dried out quick. The threat of rain will cost you 1/2 of your cars and we still had about 70 cars show up and this was the first annual so we are calling it a success.
The 48 ford in the pic belonged to a dear friend of mine that passed from complications due to the Vietnam war, agent orange got him. I built a lot of that truck in my shop, it was the strongest flathead V8 that I ever built.
I almost cried when I saw it pull in, my dear friends SIL got the truck and is carrying on with the family showing the truck.
Calvin took first place in his division two years in a row at the world of wheels with this truck.
In case you cant tell I'm very proud of this truck and my dear friend that I miss daily.
I'll post more car show pics later but this spot is for Calvin!

Thanks guys, I get all mushy over this truck, we have deep history I'll get it together.

Tony, we are going to get it set in the back yard when the ground is dry, then we will gather parts while we finish the basement. We have a cast Iron cook stove that I'm hoping to put in it, hoping!

Made a trip to lowes today and got some supplies for the basement project, we were able to get a little work in but I saw an add for a side by side that looked to good to be true and it was, I couldn't believe that there could be that much wrong with one vehicle but this poor thing was spent.

I contacted him 4 days ago and thought it was gone, but he hit me this morning.
Someone got it.
Tomorrow I'm going to try to dig the footers for the wall next to the generator.

I have never seen something so trashed. The tie rods were bent, the rack and pinion was hanging loose, wires cut, the dump box was warped, body panels missing, tires bald.
It was in bad shape
What made me go look.
It was a three cyl gas motor, auto trans, 4x4, the research said 65 mph, street legal, dump bed.

I got an early start (for me) today. I took some leftover biscuits to the chickens, they have never had bread before today, they had a good time.

Got back on the basement/ generator project today, I had run a 3/4" copper tube from the generator to the gate area, the plan was to bury a 250 gallon propane tank close to the road for easy access but they are too expensive for me so I added to the copper and it terminates in the basement now, the county announced that they may run city water on our road so now it will be a future water line.

The blue is pex that I used to lengthen the spare water line, the yellow is the copper gas line going to the basement for the stove.

All of the movement pulling the gas and water lines has caused a drip at the blue filter, I'm going to lowes in the morning for parts, I'll pick up a cpvc union so I can take it apart and fix it.

Jim, my chickens love bread. When it starts to get bad they get all of it. After holidays the local groceries deep discount buns and I buy plenty of extras to freeze and feed later. They love rice and spaghetti. Onions they never eat.

Uncle Willie, Pat makes them faster than I can eat them.

Kirk, often, the TVA has kind of quit trimming trees away from transmission lines and when the wind blows a pine tree over we are out of power. Average time is probably 6 to 8 hours, some of the heavy storms we have been down three days. It's like everything else you need to take care of yourself. I just wish now that I had trusted solar enough to have gone with it instead.

Bugnut, it is funny what they will eat, I hung that cabbage on a string and they dont touch it, my Buff Orpingtons really liked cabbage, they love apples.

Pines, interesting thought!

HJ, I didn’t realize you got some chickens, I thought that was on hold until spring.
I like chicken with my biscuits.

Solar is not the greatest, good for a few things, but no good for real life living.

Time to plant some apple trees, chickens don't mind if the damn squirrel has taken a bite out of it already!

Jay, it was on hold but my sil is having some health issues and asked if I could take over one of his bloodlines, he raises game ***** and has worked on this bloodline for 20 years, they are 1/2 Kelso and 1/2 brownred and he has bred them down to a mini size, they are under two lbs. each, not what I wanted to do but I am glad to take on this challenge, also they sell for big money!!!

S&A, you are right they like everything, they got cornbread and carrot peel today, I hung a cabbage from a string for them to peck at.

I had a busy day today, went to lowes first thing and got lumber and plumbing supplies, its supposed to be raining tomorrow so I want to be ready. I also put sand and blocks in the basement for the hole I need to fill in.
We moved 3 trailers out of the basement area and I went to the bil's and got my dump trailer to prep for digging the footers, we are thinking about moving the car port also, it's going to be hard to work around it if we dont.
We took down about 80' of the chain link fence that was around the chicken condo, it will be in the way when we bring the new building in, and I'm thinking now there is enough room to haul the carport around the yard and put it behind the shop where I want it anyway.

I could get twice as much done if I weren't redoing everything. Pat fired up the blackstone and has supper back on track, luckily she was making chicken fajitas.
VEC says the power should be back on by 10:00. I doubt it, WWII generator parts are hard to find nowadays, glad I went straight to the shower when I came in.
Power is out so no wifi, I'll load pics when the power comes back on.
I'm going to the front porch with my double fireball and coke to watch the lightning show!!!
