I read an account from WWII where a US submarine had picked up a Japanese sailor after sinking his ship. They did have a brig, so they locked him in a torpedo room under guard. The guy polished every inch of the room before they got to somewhere to turn him over.

I went to Ooltewah today and bought a range hood for the basement project from a lady on marketplace, hoping to start installing it tomorrow.
We are painting right now.

Pines, look between the propane tank and Pat's Jeep, there is my generator.
It's going to sit on that pipe right there if it ever quits raining long enough to finish the dirt work and pour some concrete.

I love how the windows turned out. And I hear you on the rain. It was SUPPOSED to be sunny all day yesterday, so I went to church instead of jumping on fixing Claudia right away. Yeah, about that. Finished pulling the gas tank off just before the rain let loose, hard.

Terry, it is a 200 amp panel but I put in a 400 amp meter base with two 200 amp breakers, 200 to the house and 200 to the shop. It's the only way I could make it all work. I have a 60 amp sub off of the shop going to the camper and it feeds the hobbit house and the storage sheds also. This place glows at night.
Kirk, the minute I bought the new building it started raining, it has to be dry to bring it in here and they were quick to tell me if the delivery driver gets stuck I'm responsible for getting him out. The windows are looking good inside, I need to make a form and pour a sill and trim the sides on the outside, then check them off of the long time coming list. You may need to rent a tent and get claudia in the dry, and warm. There calling for 50s to be the high here all week that's cold here and it almost stops the evaporation of rain water.

I'm giving it a couple more days to dry out so I moved the water heater to it's new spot today.
Old spot.
New spot, it will make sense when I get it furnished. I had to cut out a bunch of old plumbing, this is where the old well line used to connect to the house, when I put in the new pex line I came in on the other end of the basement and ran back to this spot so it required some trimming down and rerouting.
It's a 50 gallon tall, the old one was a 50 gallon short.
If things go well tomorrow I'm going to replace the door.

I picked this up today, I haven't measured it but it is about 10'x 3' it is made from 2"x 8" x ¼"wall rec. tubing. I'm thinking this will become my new welding table.

I'm thinking about cutting the first section off of each end then fold them down for legs, the last time I was at the recycler he had some 10" steel swivel casters that would set it close to working height.
The table that I use now is 5'x 10' without wheels so it dosnt move.
I would like to downsize to about a 3'x 8' with wheels so that my space is more flexible.
Hopefully over the winter I will be able to get the frame for the 64 C10 in the shop and start the modifications to it. I would really like to fit it into the fab shop where it's easier to heat so a table that I can move would help.

They were out of 10s so I got 8s, I should have took a pic. They have four 4'x 4'x 4' wire totes full of casters, they had some steel 10" last time I was there, there only 10 bucks each for the big ones and 5 for the smaller ones. They will be fine for what I'm doing.
I went to the recycler first thing this morning and got my casters, then I went to the bil's house and got him to ride to Eaton with me, I needed him to dumpster dive for me. We got several pieces for a project I'm working on. Took him home and I went home and got some lunch, then Pat and I went to lowes and picked up the pipe and fittings we needed to finish the range hood in the basement, then we went to Aldis for some groceries since there next door to Lowes. Turkey was .89 cents per lb. we got a 20 and a 21 pounder. On the way home a tire psi warning came up on the dash screen, when we got home I took it to the shop and aired all four to 38 psi the recommended amount. Then I tore the tailgate apart, the po had added chrome trim covers to all door handles and the tailgate handle, well the one on the tailgate was crooked and caused the handle to bind so I removed the latch assy. and pried the chrome cover off. I scrapped the stickey tape off and cleaned everything with lacquer thinner, reapplied new 3M trim tape and put it all back together. Went and picked Kay up from her volunteer job, by then Pat had supper ready so I'm done for today, maybe tomorrow I'll get something done, I hope.

It rained all day so we worked in the basement,
This is where the stove will live and she wanted a hood vent to keep the steam down a bit when she is canning.
It was an all day job although it looks like a box,
The hole that I had to drill through the box beam about did me in but we got it.
The vent outside fit nicely, I need to trim the tails on my siding!

Are Tabasco peppers really hot or more flavorful? I avoid peppers because they hate me, but I do like a few every once in a while. I prefer flavor over heat.

There not extremely hot, just a good flavorful hot. When you pick them green and can them with vinegar they are what we put on our greens. If you let them go all the way red they are what tobasco is made from. I love flavorful hot peppers and pickles but Pat has canned some that are almost too hot to eat but I still eat them.

It's always a surprise even to me what we will be doing the next day!

I got to work on the basement today without any interruptions. I finished installing the blocking between the floor joists, the crawl space is on the other side of this wall and in the winter the cold air comes in through these spaces.
We will cut insulation and cover the blocking before the cieling goes in.
I had to remove siding on the patio to get the cctv wires out of the basement and op the walls.
I had to roll up the house wrap and pull the sheeting boards off to drill through the floor plate to get to the wires.
I got three wires out, this one is on the right corner of the patio,
I put one on the left corner and another wire and a cat6 cable inside the sun room.
None of these wires have been connected to the breaker panel yet, that's another project for another day.
Now all of the wiring is in place and once the insulation is in we can start the cieling.
The leaves were getting deep so we blew them out of the fences and flower beds and mulched everything. Now supper is ready and I am tired.

The weather was nice today, no rain for a change so I cleaned out behind the shop. There was a lot of priceless junk that either got burned or went to the dumpster, several cedar tree trunks, and lots of wood and metal siding. A buddy is going to bring a skid steer over and do some dirt work back there so I can gravel it and put the car port that is in front of the basement now, back there. Then I will be able to do the dirt work in front of the basement.
I did some of the layout work for the footers today also, it looks like I will need to go deeper than I thought at first. The footers will be 31' long and the ground drops 14" in the 31' and they will need to be below the finish grade all the way down there length.
I will have to saw cut some of the old driveway and remove it to be able to install one of the footers. It's never easy.
Tomorrow I'm going to get the backhoe and try to start digging. I also need to move the wood for the basement cieling to the basement so it can acclimate to the climate there, I dont want it shrinking after I nail it up. I may start nailing thursday, its supposed to rain then.
