Does anyone know if this would work well if I occasionally need to cut some 14ish gauge baling wire? It's convenient that it's tiny, because it won't get used most days but I'll still need to carry it.

Really depends on your hand strength, but I’d go with this guy:

Oh, thanks. I've been avoiding using diagonal cutters because it's steel wire and I thought the blade would be damaged.

Well if you want to be sure...

There's actually a cheaper pair of Knipex diagonal cutters at HJE but they're big and bulky.

Thanks to Harry J. Epstein Co. (founded 1933) you can have the knife of a Scandinavian educational method started in 1865, made by an American company founded in 1826!

Does anyone have Wright DOE wrenches? Are they a smooth jaw or are they also made with the Wrightgrip? I’m looking at a set for work but have never seen any in the wild.

Can anyone confirm that the Wera bit ratchet will work with "standard" 1" x 0.25 bits in case I need something special?

Cheers

Yes, it'll take any 1/4" bit.

One thing I really appreciate about HJE is that they know how to pack a box. If I order a dozen items from Amazon, Walmart, or Zoro, I'll receive at least a dozen packages at different points throughout the week even though they often ship from the same warehouse. When I ordered over 30 items from HJE, I received one surprisingly small and extremely densely packed box.
How do we join the super secret HJE Day 2024?

Just realized we’re about two months out from HJE Day 2024 and there’s no thread yet! It'll be hard to beat last year when I won those drill bits but I’ll still spend too much many anyway I’m sure.

I hope we get more construction cat swag this year, the artwork (and the prayer candle) was a huge hit in my household.

I haven't seen him in a while. He disappears for months at a time though, shows up randomly after a hard night out, sleeps it off then leaves again. Love that guy. Last known photo:

Hi,

Please add me to the HJE customers group.

Thanks.

Great cat…and I’m not a “cat guy.”

where are they on the website? I don't see the 5" eagle grips.
I don’t think HJE will list them until the night before HJE Day 2024. The night before the 4th. I think. Check out one of their videos linked earlier in the thread by other GJ members. HJE goes into better detail. They only have about 30 in stock. So they are going to list right before HJE Day on the 4th so GJ members have a chance to get one.

Hey GJ pros, any tips for an Epstein day rookie? I have a handful of Wright tools I’ve been wanting so I threw those in my cart so they’re ready to go. Any advice?

You never know what interesting things you're going to find under Wilde or Mayhew. Need some quality scrapers?

They now stock some Ko-Ken tools from Japan. I hear rave reviews of their ratchets. I love their not-a-U-joint U-joints. (More like a wee CV joint, a 5 sided polyhedron inside matching grooves.) Some of their sockets sound neat, too. (What holds me back on ratchets is the size of my hands, I'm tired of skinny little handles, also, I have oodles of ratchets.)

Magnolia is an American manufacturer down in TX, they make brushes, brooms, mops.

Get yourself a dental pick!

Check out the "Brands" button, look for Swedish Military, U.S. Military, etc, you never know what fun things you can find under the military tabs. The whole Brands button is a great gateway to the variety of things they have.

More steel rulers and tape measures and the like than you can shake a stick at!

I know what you mean. I was just in there yesterday and I could have looked for several hours. I’m the same way with ratchets, big hands and already have a tool box full, although that’s not stopping me from having a new 3/8 ratchet in my cart! Thanks for the heads up on Magnolia, I’ll check it out. Appreciate you taking your time to respond.

Here's the Koken not-a-u-joint I was talking about:

I haven't used mine to get out of a bind yet, but the day will come, and it will be awesome. Note, some things are listed under Ko-ken, others Koken.

I like the looks of the handles on the Koken. I’ll have to pick one up and see how it feels next time I’m down there.
