But there are also often some really, really ugly promotional items.
I don't like collecting everything - with some things it's more the fascination of the curious.
( my Google translated website with some collected promotional items )

HAZET CL3015 (~ 1990s) gold-plated, twist-together bottle opener -
not very useful - there were/are better ones from HAZET
2025-06-19-hazet-cl3015-bottleopener.jpg

HAZET CL2020 - CoViD19 mask - today a small piece of history

Hello everyone,

new arrival in my collection of rare old HAZET tools

Hazet 6121 CT (1976-1979) - torque wrench 10 to 120 Nm (1 to 12 mkp) with 1/2" drive.

First version of HAZET itself, CT stands for Click Type (before this they sold white labeled torsion based Stahlwille Manoskop without click only with display scala), an accuracy -/+ 2%, with a cylinder lock in the handle and key for additional security of the setting and old unit of measurement meter kilopond "mkp" (1 mkp = 9,80665 Nm), which was changed to Newtonmeter SI unit at the next models as well as other locking mechanisms instead of keys.

To adjust the torque, push the handle forward against a spring, turn it to the appropriate torque value, and then let it slide back. The wrench allows for locking e.g. on the assembly line and key can be removed in either the free or locked position — therefore, the key doesn't have to remain in the tool (German patent by HAZET DE7341654U, 1974)

And another promotional item an old glass ashtray HAZET CL3002 from the 1990s now only for small parts and screws ;)

You seem to have a knack of finding rare old items in perfect condition.
Do you refurbish some of the items yourself? If so, would you share details of your techniques, because the tools look great?! (y)

You seem to have a knack of finding rare old items in perfect condition.
Do you refurbish some of the items yourself?
I mostly search worldwide for repairable or perfect condition since 2017 with a lot of patience -
80% of the finds are from Germany, 15 % from the rest of Europe.
Only the 5 % rest from USA, Australia, Brazil, etc because of taxes and today high shipping costs.

Refurbish: I can do some small things - but not everything.
For example, if the chrome is damaged or if it's chrome-plating, I'm out - it's dangerous to health or very expensive here in Germany.
I can research (what were the first interesting versions, when were they available in which version, were there patents, were they purchased from other suppliers, what did they originally look like, where were the stickers), clean (often just dirty or stained with paint, old grease or similar - or simple oxidation), weld (e.g. welding material on deformed hammer heads or closing holes), some sheet metal work (straighten bumps etc), simpler galvanizations (e.g. zinc-plate, nickelize perhaps in the future), paint (paint removal, paint build-up with phosphating, priming, filling, painting), make new stickers (vector-based, drawn by photos on the computer, then either on waterslide film in my simple printer or to the printing service provider sometimes with punching) or, if there are missing components, make a good one out of several incomplete ones.

I won't buy also rare items if I can't spruce them up. Many offers are just useless to me.
And many offers are to expensive to me. Then I wait and try again a few weeks later or hope for the next opportunity. ;)

Here is my collection of Hazet VW specialty tools as shown in the 1970 or so catalog.........every specialty tool from that catalog is there plus many other rare and mostly unused tools plus all of the standard metric tools with american and whitworth wrenches and sockets as well. The tool board is little "a" and in NOS condition. It was donated to the NewYork Technical institute in NJ in 1963, when VW headquarters opened there, along with a VW bug, to promote the training of mechanics for the expanision of VW dealer network. (story in Foreign car guide magazine about this) Of 61 tools only 13 were missing....mostly 1/2inch drive stuff. None of the other tools or drifts have ever been used as this sat up high on a wall. Over the years I have found NOS little "a" tools to match and complete the board. Board and tools were being thrown out...in the trash........when rescued. Im an old import parts guy (think books and hand written invoices) , mechanic and VW/Porsche repair facility manager.

Outstanding collection. Glad you were at the right place/right time to get those.

Did some snooping around to see if the content of the Hazet Santa Tools Advent calendar ‘25 had been published yet. Found one listing, no pictures but had a safety data sheet for an electric screwdriver. (And yes, I know they had one before.)

Then I found an Amazon listing for the ’24 Santa Tools offering, but it had detailed pictures of what I suppose is going to be/ highly likely the contents of the ‘25 Santa Tools Advent calendar.

(Not my cup of tea at all, so don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just passing on information. …)

Hello, Hazet folks. Can someone with an Assistent model 166N please measure the diameter of the folding vertical column/pylon? I'm considering buying a set to retrofit a Japanese Hory Caddy (Hazet clone) and I want to check for fit.

Thanks!

Found at an antique mall .....labeled "steam punk" priced at 495 bucks.....nice lady gave me a deal. Pic is before I loaded it into the Ranchero. Cleaned up nice. Completely original paint....no touchups etc.

Stoopid early ring compressor.
75mm closed (25hp) yet could do 77mm.
Early logo looks to be before the 1949 catalog.
Also nothing but the Hazet logo, no part numbers or sizes.
Knurling on handle is coarser than any I have seen and the flat bar used is pretty coarse on surface compared to others of the small a era.

And a few others that came with... 83mm, 86.5mm and spares for each of those.

Hello everyone,

once again rare and old strange marketing gimmicks:

HAZET packs of 6 razor blades (1965-1969): "now ice-hardened stainless" (German: "jetzt eisgehärtet rostfrei").
From the outside it is a large tool cabinet 100, recognizable by its chrome trim and handles, while from the inside it is only a small tool cabinet 110, recognizable by the drawn tool assortment and missing drawers. There are 3 razor blades in each door.

Sometime between 1952 and 1965, there were other, simpler razor blade giveaways packaged in rectangular paper booklets with motifs such as the 430 socket wrenches, 450 wrenches, the 450 Remscheid holder, or the 760 pliers, a set of 900/916/900Z ratchets and sockets. Unfortunately, I don't have any of these (yet ;)).

2025-09-24-hazet-razorblades-a.jpg

HAZET Corkscrew (1988-1995)
The expression "...always the right tool" only came into use in 1992. This type of black plastic T-handle was previously used around 1988, for example, on the 428 hexagon socket wrench. It was not part of the later HAZET Club Program.

Hello again,

some rare old tools:

Hazet 2572 (1950-1972) - special wrench for fuel valve
this small, 110 mm long special wrench was used for the three-way (closed/opened/reserve) fuel valve on older VW models without fuel gauge.
2025-11-17-hazet-2572.jpg

1x HAZET 160-2 (1958-1979) 480 mm long slotted profile rail (for dividing the long side in the shelves)
3x HAZET 160-5 (1958-1979) 150 mm short divider plate (2x required to divide the short side of the shelf across)
They are from a HAZET Assistent 162 manufactured ~1965-1972. There are neither logos nor article numbers visible on them.

2025-12-03-hazet-1602-1605-a.jpg

HAZET 2140-3 (1965-1985) hammer, 300 g, DIN 1041 standard
2025-12-04-hazet-2140-3-b.jpg

and some new tools and shirts:
HAZET 839-1 (2019-2025) phase tester
HAZET 9040 P-3 (2018-today) low-noise blow gun
HAZET 190 L-1 (2010-today) plastic carrying case
various HAZET T-shirts at and before 2018

reagrds,
Wishing you a wonderful Advent season

Quoting this from the arrivals thread a while back, to contribute to the thread.

Hazet Screwdriver bit set 2240N/36
Nice surprise to receive the older version with the more well proven grey bits rather than the shiny chrome ones with coloured size indicator collars. The selection of bits is good (e.g. common repeats, T27 present). Bits seem good, good fit in screw heads, but the case and bit holder (older 2239-6) are just satisfactory.

I'm trying to get an idea of the head thickness of the 863HPB bit ratchet. I can find it's length but not thickness. With a regular C6 25mm bit installed what is the overall thickness? If anyone has one they can provide the measurements for that would be great, thanks!

Hello,

Maybe you all could tell me more about it.

Looks like a HAZET 4500/45 large carburetor set arround 1988 (the 821-1 handle is not blue anymore)
I think it is not the successor 4500/42 from 1992, with some other tools and without the here missing 4513-13 and 4513-14.

The best list of included tools of it see 1979 catalog, page 178.
Reassembling a complete set today is difficult and expensive. The HAZET enthusiast community for vehicles of that era is also considerably less generous than owners of older VW/Mercedes/Porsche/Opel models from the 1950s to 1970s.

My smaller, older, but complete 4500/9 or 4500/10 set only for my classic VWs (1970 Karmann-Ghia Coupé & 1979 Baywindow Camper):
2024-09-29-hazet-4500-set.jpg

Good luck & regards,

Thank you for the thorough response! As you could imagine, I don’t own an 80s carbureted German car but I may keep this set around regardless.

Hello again,

another rare and old find:
HAZET 162-0 (1965-1976) Assistent test device holder.
It is inserted into one of the columns of the old workshop trolleys.

First image for comparison from 1967 HAZET The new products brochure:
(with Sun TDT-216 RPM and Dwell Angle Tester and Sun PTL-45 Ignition Timing Strobe Light)

and, given the beautiful weather, also with HAZET 161-8 (1967-2010) glass pane holders instead
