Hello everyone

What a Nice tread.
Read the entire thing, and registered half way to be able to open the pictures.
Good to see so many other HAZET enthusiasts.
It was really informative and cool to see other peoples projects and collections.
Hope to see much activity here.
Wil post some pictures of my tools later.

Hello everyone and welcome to 2024,

HAZET CL3012 - mechanic rubber duck in overalls with a wrench on the right and a screwdriver (according to the manufacturer) on the left. Not particularly old and only from the period ~ 2020-2022 - but already very difficult to find. In addition to this "CL3012", there was also a rare "CL3011" version before it with a wrench on the right and a spare tire on the left... I'm still looking for that...

2024-01-12-hazet-cl3012-rubber-duck.jpg

HAZET 1979-11 - LED Pen light. A small, compact and practical LED lamp with main light (area illumination) or top light (point illumination) for approx. 2.5 hours of lighting time. Shockproof and IP65 dust and water protected housing with integrated holding magnet on the back, extendable holding clip, integrated status LED (green/red) and USB Type-C (on the lamp) charging cable for USB Type-A. This design has been available since 2021. I now often use it in the dark winter time in and underneath my car projects.

Hello everyone,

HAZET 8816 G reversible 3/8" ratchet with joint and 40 teeth (1967-1972).
From 1976 onwards with a black rubber handle and later other handles and versions.
This ratchet used e.g. for 2505-1 or 880 TZ spark plug inserts in the 1970s.
There was also a shorter version available HAZET 8816 GK.

regards,
Orangina, I have asked a few pages ago how to open up the light to replace the 18650 battery inside which is very weak. I have the 1979N-82 light (no mag charging). I have searched with my limited German with no success.

I don't want to destroy mine by opening it so if you can find a guide or info I would be grateful.

Hello Silkman,

I didn't have this one (too big for my use cases) - so I can't answer it.
I guess it's not that difficult. I would first check all screws and sticker hiding places.
There are probably some snap solutions for the housing halves.
Sorry, but your light is no longer in good condition anyway, so why be afraid of breaking something?

I didn't find any repair discussion about it in German forums
(sad to say: with ~ $45 purchase price a repair work is hardly economical if it take too much time - of course it's more ecological and I would try it too ;) )

regards,

Hello again everyone,

HAZET 757-10 Universal grip pliers (1958-today)
This version is from the 1970s after 1965 because of the capitalization of the brand but with the blue handle - later they had a black handle, today without a plastic cover. With package and wax paper with the 1970s mascot.

I'm looking to get a Hazet 916HPLG 1/2 ratchet. Everyone seems to like it. Anything I should know before pulling the trigger? Are there any places online to get a good discount on it? Right now Amazon UK via Amazon USA seems like the best deal (KC, Chads, Jens all are more expensive). Is there another store I should check out.
Likewise what's the best/cheapest way to get a Hazet Assistant? Looking at a 160 or 166.
Thanks

I would buy the Assistent from Jens as he goes above and beyond to package it safely. Amazon definitely does not, and its not worth the headache to receive one beat up.

I can’t speak for the 916HPLG, but I have the regular length 916HP. It is durable and seems heavy enough to be used as a club. I have no reason to believe Hazet is stretching the truth with their strength test numbers. I really like and use Hazet sockets and wrenches, but the 916HP is not my favorite 1/2” drive ratchet.

I have had the most success with Amazon.de (German). My chrome browser translates for me (even Japanese ) and they probably have a drop down to choose English anyway.
Right now, the Hazet 160St Assistant is $478.64 at Amazon.de, and $655 at MisterWorker. Shipping from Amazon.de is $164.48 although that usually varies some at check out.
The Hazet 166N is $686.05 at Amazon.de and shipping is $189.00 The 166N is $1020 at MW.
Then some prices are quoted with or without VAT depending on what you list for a shipping address. However they have been charging my state sales tax which seems to approximate the VAT.
I also saw a model 166C that I was not familiar with.
I have mixed feelings ... I like to support American businesses. I also admire Jens for his commitment to world trade.
But checking American prices, there is a lot of difference on these particular items. I try to distribute my business to keep Americans in business and also to save myself some money (which is necessary too).
When I compare prices, sometimes the American and German prices are not that far apart. It really depends on the item. And when I try to be really clever, and find a German company that does not routinely export to USA (expecting a windfall in savings) I find that Germans are often paying as much there as we are here for quality products.

Additional Note: I was composing as drtyler was posting above. My Amazon products have always arrived safely, but steel tools are not nearly as fragile as the Assistant so that may be a consideration.

Get it from amazon de, thats where I got mine, I think it was 94eur w/o VAT as I ordered from a business account. The 916 HPLG is awesome, I used it with a 2 meter 1 1/2" cheater pipe to remove the camshaft bolt on my Audi. It flexed like crazy but it didn't break and the flex was not permanent. I really expected it to break.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm in the USA so I think it already updates the pricing to show no VAT, but I'll double check that. Seems like everyone finds it a good tool.
I'll keep an eye out for the Assitent locally.

Hello again everyone,

some more historic stuff...

I now have my HAZET 4500/9 and 4500/10 tool set carburetors complete for Volkswagen.
(I don't need the box, my tools are in one of my Hazet Assistants)
https://www.vw-t2-bulli.de/hazet-4500-de.html
(HAZET 615, 2587, 4501, 4503, 4505-1, 4505-2, 4507, 4507-1, 4513-13, 4513-14)

I found 2 versions of the HAZET 4507 (1969-2000) carburetor adjustment gauge - one with holders made of brass and one plastic:

2024-04-26-hazet-4507-brass.jpg

2024-04-26-hazet-4507-plastic.jpg

And an old soft-head hammer HAZET 1950-4 (1952-1988, this one past 1965) made from yellow Cellidor (cellulose acetate butyrate, to exchange and soften you use hot water):

Some Hazet scores over the weekend. Went to VW show in CT.
Banner about 4ft wide

Hazet 2566 for dash switch removal and another 764 spark plug tool (shortie)
Also the 310a is for Air-cooled VW crankshaft holding on bench while building it up. (non-Hazet) VW Dealer tool made by Matra. Think I have 3 now, sold one last year too.

@Orangina Any information on the different lengths of Hazet 764? The shortie I got yesterday, is the first I've seen. All small "a", all same markings.

20240617_192723.jpg

Good friend sold me this Hazet 190 cantilever tool box for a steal. I have one but it's newer with plastic logo, black, yellow stripe.

And a few other bits scored recently not Hazet but I think this crowd will appreciate.

1958 - 1960? - with Phillips screws at the front, flat cover at the back and upper & lower case of the brand "Hazet" (still missing in my collection)
1960? - 1965 - with Phillips screws at the front, cover at the back with 2 bulges and upper and lower case of the brand "Hazet"
1965 - 1969 - with Phillips screws at the front, cover at the back with 2 bulges and upper case of the brand "HAZET"

2024-07-14-hazet-916-b.jpg

Very Rare Hazet 763 spark plug socket wrench.
Sorry, the 763 (1950-1972, at first for Porsche) was normally only a long fixed tube.
This is something modified and DIY build made with some cut off part of the 763 :(
to get something similar like the 762 tool or what ever...

As I see at theSamba (posted mid July) you have already a normal 763 in full length in good condition. ;)

I bought these a couple of months ago and posted in the Garage Sale thread.

DSCF0066R.jpg

'767' 1/2" drive 16mm-5/8" sparkplug socket with matching tommy bar. Also marked with Mercedes part # 102 589 02 09 00.
'2771' 17mm valve adjusting spanner for Mercedes.
'329-2' 1/2" drive 14mm valve adjusting spanner for Mercedes. Also marked with Mercedes part # 000 39 07.

These were bought very cheaply at my small local car boot sale. I don't have a specific need for them but I couldn't leave them behind!

No, Sorry, my 763 was made by Hazet. It is extremely rare. Came in the toolkit of early 356A Carrera. only 429 made. It might be made from parts Hazet already had in stock. But certainly made by Hazet to specifications of a certain car fitment. Others like it do exist. Took me a long time to buy this one from friend. The previous owner, he was a mechanic and had a nice car collection too.

that makes sense.
Bilz (founded 1919) is 12 miles / 20km 40min near Porsche - in contrast to Hazet 250 miles / 400km or 4h ;)
I suspect the rest of the tool was also adapted there - there were no other HAZET tools that looked like this.

The only strange thing is that spark plugs are normally only tightened by hand (I think 35 Nm at the time, later 20 Nm) - so why this ratchet? Probably to be faster, because the Carrera had double spark plugs and two distributors and everything was a bit tighter than in standard Porsche that have only half of the power.

Hello everyone,

HAZET 1932 welding pliers (1969 to today, this version with yellow handles 1979 to before 1988).
These pliers are designed for bending sheet metal up to 1 mm thick in order to weld them with an overlap.
Now I need the matching 1964 hole punch pliers for spot welding.
But for longer edges I use another hand-friendly tool with compressed air. ;)
2024-10-26-hazet-1932.jpg

HAZET 1861-11 and 1861-00 stripping pliers (1967-2000, this version 1967 and 1969 until before 1985).
These pliers with yellow-transparent hand protection are used to strip fine wires with a diameter of 0.3 to 1.2 mm or 0.5 to 5 mm, without having to adjust the cross-section. The different diameters are implemented using parallel, spring-loaded gripping blade slats. In practice, however, this means more effort than with the simple 1860-1 with V-blades and over the years neither the spring force nor the cutting/gripping blade is even across all the sensitive slats. Therefore, it is not such a great tool.

Hello again,

some more old Hazet VW special tools:
Hazet 921 (1950-1972) - VW spring rod fastening 8 mm
Hazet 922 (1950-1972) - VW cylinder head bolts 10 mm
HAZET 923 (1967-1972) - VW oil drain and filler plug on the gearbox 17 mm

2024-12-08-hazet-921-922-923.jpg

and something much older:
Hazet 196 (around 1932) - automobile wrench "Excelsior"
for "Auto Union" (these four rings standing first for the brands "DKW", "Wanderer", "Horch" and "Audi" - today AUDI).
This 9 1/2" adjustable wrench with Auto Union part# "896583-0" was probably part of an on-board tool kit -
as other Hazet standard spanners 10x12 with "896580-0", 11x14 "896581-0", 17x19 "896582-0", ... could be found at the Internet.
