Hello everyone,

next rare and old find:
HAZET 763CT-20 torque limiter for spark plugs from the early 1980s.
A 20 Nm torque limiter for 1/2" spark plug sockets only engages when tightening the spark plugs.
(90 mm long, 28 mm diameter, with a 200 mm fixed torsion bar).
Under the circlip, there is only a round cap that secures the torsion bar in a recess – below that is a nut for the mechanism.

From 1985 to 1988, a similar torque limiter tool, the 763CT, was advertised, also for 10, 20 and 30 Nm, but all with 3/8" drive at the bottom and top, without a torsion bar.

Hello Don,

these smallest 760-1 universal plier existing from 1952 to 1992
and was part of many sets, toolboxes and tool cabinets
(today replaced with other bigger size and different design as "760 N-4" or "760-2").

Yours is a version before 1965 (typo changed from Hazet->HAZET) in the variant polished chrome.

regards,

Perhaps it dates back to a time when, for example, small mechanical ignition contacts in the distributor had to be adjusted with great care (distance check by e.g. a 0.4mm feeler gauge). At my old cars there is a screw to adjust it - no need to bend it with pliers. But it can help keep the small parts in position.

However, HAZET never called the 760 universal pliers that – especially since there were three different sizes available:
(right an older HAZET 140-9 plier from the ~1920s)

NOT all manufacturers called them "ignition pliers" (Herbrand called them a "Midget Slip Joint" - model 160)
Several manufacturers, however, marketed them as "Ignition Pliers", one brand of which you may recognize:

I’m getting more into Hazet recently. This was on sale on Amazon for a good price so I pulled the trigger:

Compared to my PBS bits of the same size:

With my other smart case set:

I’m going to invest into more Hazet stuff over the next few months as Im very impressed with the quality and fit & finish of it all.

Hello everyone,

HAZET 2500 WA (this from 1965-1966, previous versions since 1950 as e.g 500 WA).
25xx product numbers are for Volkswagen tools. WA stands for de:"Werkzeugausrüstung"/en:"tool equipment".

2026-04-13-hazet-2500wa-a.jpg

The original set contained 45 tools for Volkswagen.
I already have 14 specifically for this (I have other sets with more, but I don't want to plunder them) - will now continue collecting specifically for this the next years... This is just the beginning:
2026-04-14-hazet-2500wa-e.jpg

That's the condition I bought it in - ugly repainted, rusty, dented and of course without any tools - before my restoration some weeks ago:

Could you tell me what was the list of the tools that went into the box or where I can find them listed.

You could find some old HAZET catalogs as PDF at their website:
https://www.hazet.de/en/company/history (scroll down to the "100 years of HAZET product history" and choose one of the years.

I case of my HAZET 2500 WA the 1965 catalog and look at page 53:
(details and photos of the listet tools you find at other pages - or at my google translated website www.vw-t2-bulli.de/hazet/)

Hello again,

another rare and old find:
HAZET 162-0 (1965-1976) Assistent test device holder.
It is inserted into one of the columns of the old workshop trolleys.

First image for comparison from 1967 HAZET The new products brochure:
(with Sun TDT-216 RPM and Dwell Angle Tester and Sun PTL-45 Ignition Timing Strobe Light)

2026-02-28-hazet-1620-a.jpg

and, given the beautiful weather, also with HAZET 161-8 (1967-2010) glass pane holders instead
2026-02-28-hazet-1620-1618.jpg

regards,

Was the intent on these trolley attachments that they would be swapped depending on the job at hand, or that each cart might be permanently set up for a specific job? Or did it depend on the user?

The accessories are simply plugged into the column – they are not screwed in or fixed and can be quickly changed.
I use them as needed in my work on my classic cars and projects.

Not everyone had even one of them, and hardly anyone had the whole set. I've never seen a classified ad offering a complete set.
However, they are so rare today that perhaps one in every 100 had a lamp, one in every 500 a pair window pane holders, and one in every 5000 a test equipment holder. However, one should also consider the production times - the HAZET Assistant was manufactured in variants from 1954 until today (in 1959 the first 25.000 are sold, in 1986 the first 500.000 are sold) - this accessory production time was significantly shorter. Today, HAZET also offers other, more box-shaped workshop trolleys with other accessories.

The following accessories were available for the columns:
- HAZET 161-5 (1954-2000) light (bright 100 W, over time in various forms)
- HAZET 161-8 (1967-2010) a pair of window pane holders for both columns
- HAZET 161-9 (1979-present) a pair of bigger window pane holders for both columns for heavy, curved window panes
- HAZET 162-0 (1965-1976) test equipment holder (today difficult to identify, no HAZET or 162-0 inscription)

1955 HELKA Favorit (perhaps for HAZET/VW), 1967-1976 HAZET 166 TS, 1954 HAZET 160 first Assistant model

Hello again,

another rare old item:

Hazet 2562 with its pin 2562 D (1950-1970)
double socket wrench with 27x30 mm and matching 12 mm pivot pin for loosening and tightening the mounting bolts of the gearbox carrier and the steering wheel nut on old VW beetle and early bus models. It was part of the HAZET 500 WA or 2500 WA tool boxes for Volkswagen. This one is past 1958 may be till the end 1970 - normally the inscription changed 1965 switched to capital letters.

Hello,

the next classic find:

HAZET 916 (from 1979) ratchet
2026-05-15-hazet-916-a.jpg

The sliding button (round step pyramid) used to change direction with the thumb is somehow similar - albeit present on both sides at this ratchet - to that found on the early 916 models in the head produced between 1952 and 1969; it remains unclear to me whether a Herbrand model from the USA served as the original inspiration for this design as well (because of this buttons). The successor model featured a different sliding button (wedge shape) located on only one side and later 916 N box design model with plastic button and HAZET patents (EP0236565A1).

916 models from 1952 to 1969 (with approximately 4 minor overlapping changes over the years: first slotted screws, then Phillips screws; first without the two small bumps in the middle of the back, then with them; first "Hazet", then "HAZET" - I have 3 of 4) - similar to Herbrand S-10 model:

916 successor models from 1985 to 2000 and 916 N from 1992 to 2000 (beside other 916 models with switches in the head)
