Now that IS a collection of Hazet Whitworth! I particularly like the shallow offset 625’s. I didn’t know they had ever made those in Whitworth.

Yes, the older 630 wrenches are rounder. I quite like the newer pattern, but I only have the one I pictured earlier, the rest are older. I suspect Hazet didn’t make them for long.

All are great to use though!

I just purchased a HAZET 197-2, would anyone happen to know what the 3 locations on the opposite end of the spout are for? The one by itself has a female thread and i think it maybe for the drain plug but then again not all drain plugs are the same size (just a guess) I tried looking in their catalog for additional description but none could be found, so I thought perhaps MR. HAZET himself Wout may know .

It looks like it’s stepped to accommodate different sized plugs. The other two look like they are for sockets.

It is a quality made drain pan but unfortunately it's made in Taiwan however, if the quality control is there than it should meet the rigorous specifications of HAZET

Thanks, some are indeed like new. Didn't do any cleaning before taking pictures .

Sorry I have no idea when they quit making them. Some sockets look 80ties at least IMO but that's also 30 plus years ago :headscarf

Few weeks back I bought a plastic '900' inlay at the flea market from my 'neighbor' seller. So while I was searching for the Withworth sockets I gave it a shot and tried filling it. I emptied a box that was filled with some of my spare 'other brand' sockets and started filing it with Hazet. I have no idea of year or socket sizes so I ended up with what I thought suits the inlay best. Tried different wrenches and the oldest model fits best I think. Only 2 sockets are wrong (to my taste), the 15 is 'z' and the 30 is another brand. So in about 15min I have a functional extra set of sockets...

Wow! Nice collection, and not one of those items are currently available new!

I see the 630 deep offset’s fairly often, and the 1/2 inch drive sockets likewise. 3/8 sockets and combo wrenches much less often. I don’t think I’ve seen the 610 wrench’s EVER in Whitworth, so I’ve learn’t something today.

The problem with the U.K. is that there were so many domestic producers (Britool, Bedford, Gordon, King ****, Garrington etc etc were all banging out Whitworth tools) that I don’t reckon much Hazet Whitworth was sold here, despite it being the natural home for it.

Hazet also tends to be one of those makers whose tools are passed down from Father to Son. I’ve seen far more stashed in locked garages than I’ve ever seen available used!

Good find! It’s a shame these inlay’s are not mega durable.

I saw a guy on YouTube strengthening one by filling the back with expanding foam.

It struck me that you could probably repair a broken one by using the same technique, then a dab of body filler, then a coat of ‘Hazet blue’!

Of course, many couldn’t be bothered, but given the price that nice condition Hazet sets are going for, I might be bothered!

It’s a shame Hazet only provide black inlays now, assuming you are lucky enough to get a set with a metal box at all! If I got one of those I might be tempted to paint it! I love the ‘all blue’ look!

HAZET end cap display at a Bauhaus DIY store in Stuttgart. Most were made in Germany product but some private larbeled Asian. Prices about same as Amazon.de. Store also carried Knipex, Stabila and Bahco. Most other hand tools were cheap Asian (Wisnet, Matador, Alpha) Bauhaus is Germany’s Home Depot. Some stores carry Gedore as well.

Dave & Wout, thanks for the comps! I had almost all my tools stolen in around 1985 so most all of my current tools have been picked off ebay from around the world and at significant cost too.

I've run into some old fitted cases of Gedore's that were pre "The Graduate" (before plastic) and made entirely of metal like these.

Has anyone seen or own Hazet boxes with metal inserts?

That was my thinking, it will get quite a bit of use. It is stronger than most 1/2" drive breaker bars too.

Not sure who make the boxes. The carts I'm sure Hazet makes them, saw it with my own eyes . Good luck on finding old socket sets. I mostly collect the Assistents but also have a nice collection of socket boxes to.

I have wondered the same. I was thinking about the old Britool boxes. They were unique to the firm, so I’m increasingly thinking they were made in house.

There are some boxes you see that are obviously generic boxes brought in. You know the sort of thing - square boxes, probably with a cheap customised liner, probably double the size it needs to be for the tools.

Even if Wout hadn’t mentioned it, I’d have said that Hazet make the Assistent themselves. The bottom tray is a pressed steel part, so if they can press that in house, they can easily make the boxes too, which are also of a (fairly unique) pressed steel pattern!

The trouble with Hazet is that everyone is chasing the used stuff. Most boxes that come up have tools in them, so while the occasional good buy is out there, you have to hunt! A builder friend recently bought a comprehensive 3/8 drive set at an auction for less than £50 though, so it’s worth keeping your eyes open!

You can buy the empty metal boxes new from TBS Aachen, and I wonder if it is worth doing so, as Hazet seem to be making less and less of these. There are also some new sets available in metal boxes, which are good value I reckon!

Gedore, Elora, Hazet and some others are all in the same neighborhood in Germany so possible they had some kind of collaboration in the past or even now. The insert of the old socket box is identical, that's for sure. The Gedore box is only smaller then the Hazet box.

Checked my new arrival and there's very litle in it that can be original to the box so will have to search all my spare parts to fill it. If someone is interested in the non Hazet parts (first picture), just let me know. The Hazet ratchet is way to young and put together wrong. Have a spare old ratchet so that won't be a problem.

Wout, I just can not tell from your pic, but if could happen to be some Wille sockets from 52 series - 24, 22 and 17.
Also, I do hope to post some pics in this thread - shame that I just happen to have gadgets that are fading away as a software is being unupdateable...

Are you looking for Stahlwille sockets? Have to check, have a lot of non-Hazet that sometimes come with Hazet stuff.

600 series are the hardest to find, 450 and 630 are far more common to find even where I live...

And for those 600s: 6, 7, 9, 13, 16, 17, 22, 24, 27, 32, 36.
He 'needs' them. It is 'just to fulfill the set'. Probably nonexisting one.
