HD Black Friday- Table Saw & Tool Boxes & Go Karts

Was in the Depot and leaving the bathroom when a group of fellas was leaving the break room talking about the Black Friday stuff. One guy offered to show a few the cool things and they discussed how to get one of the go karts. I quietly followed from a distance and waited till they left looking at the rafters in electrical where they were.

I found the stores honeypot thanks to them. A few go-karts, few Delta table saws, one Dewalt 2 piece tool chest, one Milwaukee 2 piece tool chest and multiple black wrapped displays. All labeled for Black Friday.

As I snapped a few pics, a screaming manager came at me. Yelling what was I doing, who did I work for, no pictures, etc. I pretended to be confused by his behavior and started talking in Italian to him. He immediately backed down and changed his tone and did what most do, started talking louder and slower and gesturing “no pictures.” I played dumb and said thank you and walked away. I had a tail following me till I left, but more black wrappings in the rafters in HVAC and the tile aisle.

Home Depot espionage... Lol.. "Do you work for Lowes??!!"

I got in a fight with a guy in the local HD who said what I was doing was illegal and I was a spy for another store. Then said taking pictures of the things on clearance was stealing. I said "There is absolutely nothing wrong with what I am doing. Your behavior is ridiculous." and then he asked if I wanted him to go get the manager, and I said "No, I don't want to talk to your manager. I'm going to go out to my car right now, and call HD corporate, and have THEM talk to your manager about your behavior." I did exactly that. The store manager called me back to apologize and gave me a 50$ credit.

Was there the other day and they had pallets marked for BF sitting in the back isle, biggest was a pallet of Ridgid shop vacs. Others I couldn't see under the plastic.

Heaven forbid someone would spread the word about what great deals are coming up and give them tons of free advertising.

^Now that's better than a penny deal

Do they actually sell items for a penny?! I never saw a penny deal. It did mess me up once, though. Had a leftover/unused gallon of barn paint, took it back for a refund, and the clerk said it was marked as a penny in their system and that I'd be receiving a penny back in refund. I lost the receipt to prove I paid the full $17 price. Funny thing is, the paint was still marked for $17 on the shelves. I should've demanded to talk to a manager but I just left and came back when their system was working. I had paid for the stuff with my HD card, but their system was down so she couldn't check to see what I paid. And just assumed I was lying and not a good customer who spends thousands there every year.

Years back they used to bug me about taking pictures but haven't said anything about it in a couple years. And geez, how many HD threads do we need, :)

Definitely going to pick up one or two of the Milwaukee boxes if they hit any substantial discount.

$200 would be a fair price for the Milwaukee Box, otherwise $349-500 is still way too much

I'm surprised the ad hasn't been intentionally leaked yet, people have been budgeting their time/money for BF purchases for a while now. They're gonna end up with a lot of dead stock...which is good for the clearance hunters.

They threaten legal action against anyone who posts it/has it on their server. Corporate does not want those prices out before hand.

I think I got a head start and did early Black Friday shopping instead :D

I really blew it out of proportion last year, and this year "it should be" 99 cents poinsettias for now,

I'm guessing their perspective is that they don't want to be undercut by competitors through prior knowledge, but realistically, the buys for the black Friday goods were made probably 4-6 months ago, and all the ads are printed, so your competition would have had to done the same bulk buys to meet your price points.

At this point in the game, it's more about attracting people to the stores, there's more upside in letting your customers know what's being offered. Given that everyone else has released ads, I doubt many people go for the Russian roulette game and rather go where they know they can get a deal on the item they want.

Is the Milwaukee FUEL circular saw with the 9ah battery the 7 1/4 or the 6 1/2? Guessing it's the 7 1/4. Those 9ah combos seem like a pretty good deal. Battery alone is usually $199.

I thought the DW745 table saw was supposed to be on sale too? I don't see it in those ads.

Most of this stuff is the same price now and has been for some time. The Milwaukee roller I wanted is same price as it's been for like a year - and we had a local store with one for $599.

M18 combos are currently that price.

Rigid 3-piece toolbox combo is $99 normally $127.

Diablo framing blades two for $10 is a good price, probably pick up a 60-pack of Rayovacs for $10 too.

booooooooooorrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiing. Is there really no 1-3 day sale ad that's missing from this?

Yeah, I was really hoping for a better price on the Milwaukee 60" mobile center or 46" combo, would buy the 60 for $598 not $698...

Felt the same thing, this feels like a normal holiday sale, not BF specials, a few cheapo things for $5-10, but no big things on VG deal. Maybe this is leaked version and real version might have diff prices.

So in general the sentiment is that this isn't wonderful overall, but I'm wondering if anyone else agrees that the Milwaukee FUEL cordless circular or sawzall combo with a 9 Ah battery might be pretty decent? Seems to be at least $50 less than you could do buying them separately on eBay.

Yes, very decent. I've been buying them at 10% off, selling the tool for $175 on Craigslist and keeping the 9.0 and charger. Works out to about $60 for a 9.0 battery and a rapid charger. Sales are finally slowing down though.

Dewalt stuff is a better deal at Grainger. Powerflex reciprocating saw with 2 batteries is 299. HD you only get 1 battery

yup a few years back in july they had a whole pallet of winter windshield washer fluid. I was checking out and watched them start tagging it with 1 cent prices per bottle and said i'll take 5 cases of that. I only had a car at the time. lasted my family for 5 new England winters. The guy behind me bought the rest of the 20 plus cases. pretty sure he owned a gas station and i'm sure made a killing on it.
