HEFF: is all that extra paving to fix the hole your old banyon tree left that fell over in hurricane Irma?

sorry your roof on your home needs to be replaced and do you have any pictures of the damage? I know the winds were in the 140mph range in part of your town so was it that windy at your place and where did you ride out the storm?

I like your unistrut shelving. were you planning on cutting off the ends of the bolts sticking up or leaving them there so you'll know where they are?

the paving work looks first cabin and hope they finish it soon and you are happy with it.

The pavers are to fill up the hole. It makes for a really nice wide driveway and taking the garbage cans down was very easy tonight!

We fled to las vegas. When we booked our flight the storm was still unclear where it would go. It ended up hitting naples directly but I was certain wherever we went it would follow so we tried to go somewhere weather inert! Avoid west of Florida up the middle of the country and then if we went east I was sure it would follow us there too!

All of the pavers were laid today then the border tomorrow and a lot of the repairs will go on tomorrow and beyond. Several days I am sure. Ill post pics tomorrow!

I just took a picture of the screen looking at the driveway with a camera. It’s remarkable what my original pavers which are only 2 months old look like compared to the new ones!

The originals look like they are 100 years old!

I had to break out the pressure washer in order to make sure they will match. Best I can tell right now it looks possible things will blend nicely together..... Only time will tell.

HEFF: your driveway is looking great and i'm pretty sure if you can't get the old stuff to match the old stuff after pressure washing that hopefully it will age similar and will look even better in a couple years.

it looks like you live in a very nice area of nice homes. is the street finally cleaned up from those huge piles of hurricane Irma debris?

best of luck on the roof repairs!!

Roads are clear finally. There is a second pass being made soon and I noticed people are starting to pile back up :( My next door neighbor was telling me that she had a "go" bag at the side of her bed incase there was a fire in the brush out front. I understood what she meant because we were terrified this dried up kindling would light and spread very easily. We had forest fires in the area last summer from the dryness before the 70+ inches of rain before the storm. Its been a rough year for the elements here!

I broke out the pressure washer and the existing pavers (only 3 months old really) are filthy. I didn't realize just how bad they were! I was able to clean a good portion just to test. Ultimately I will have a professional come out with that big floor washing tool to clean the pavers. At this point insurance is paying so we are gonna doing it right.

I haven't fixed the building. Replacing the purlins with the wiring running through it, the wall panels notched around it and the fact that the building is full of tools is just a massive headache! I guess I should get a move on so I don't get caught in next rainy season but its just an awful situation. I keep looking and finding more parts that need to be ordered with the replacement order. Such a headache! Buck Steel will sell me parts but they won't help me get in touch with technicians to help sort out which parts I need.

Heffneil, once the professionals do it with their big rotary machine, you might consider buying one of the small 15-inch Simpson Cleaning heads for your machine. It connects to the wand with the same quick disconnect as the nozzle and do a decent job getting the mold and mildew off your pavers. The 4,600 psi model sells for about $70 and the 3,500 psi model for a little less than $60.

Yeah I have considered buying one but I hate pressure washing :) . The guys were here for a couple more days and did a lot more repair from the storm and equipment driven all over it! I just got home and its dark but I hope to update tomorrow! Hope everyone had a nice thanksgiving!

My next project is going to be getting this building finally fixed!

So I bought two 9 drawer husky toolboxes for my cordless Tool storage. My plan was to hang them on the wall. I also bought 6 of these smaller stand alone toolboxes to make a mobile bench. I picked up a bunch of it because Home Depot is morons. When I went there Sunday all six of the single boxes were pulled and marked with my name which was good since I never got an email about it at all. They told me I had 30 days to pick it up and I said great because I only had room for the two 9 drawers I was buying then. I went back today and only four were there! They found one more on the floor and I had to go to another Home Depot to get the sixth one. No apology no discount no refund nothing. Very frustrating. Here’s the single one in my truck and the two 9 drawers. They were fun getting off myself. My helper got a job so things will probably slow down project wise but I’ll focus on the repairs from the storm. bee698ba0915eb0502469568275eec64.jpgb6a4d8bebd05b6ff9a0195b8ecf46bd9.jpg

The grass up to the pavers looks freakin' AWESOME!

I wanted to do something like that but just as a border around the concrete but my budget was so far gone by that time. I love the looks of that.

Great job on everything, it all looks great.

Thanks it means a lot o get encouragement! Here are some pics of the 150 shrubs we planted [emoji12]

I was shocked they had them all to deliver. We need a bunch more for fill in. Grass here was dry since we didn’t have irrigation. We fixed it but it’s going to take a couple days to get it back to green. Tomorrow the other guy is going to plant three triple palms in the circles with no grass. I’m excited. They are Christmas palms. Never had them and just in time!

Started putting together the big workstation that will roll around. These boxes have a lip the way they are manufactured and to put them side by side I had to crimp it. I am shocked the find out I don’t have a duckbill locking pliers (vise grip) that will change. I used my knipex and it did a nice job but it was only an inch wide. Here’s some pics of the process. I have two drawers that are damaged :(

Another of the lip I had to crimp fully

Two rows of three. Tomorrow I will bolt the two rows back to back. Wheels will be here Saturday and then I can figure out if I need to build up the top and what size it will be!

HEF: did you find a BLACK FRIDAY SPECIAL on all those boxes? not sure i'd blame HD on a crazy day like that when i've heard the store is a ZOO. sorry to see there was some damage, but they look like they'll do a great job in your new garage.

just curious how you tip them back over when you have 3 bolted together? I think i know how and just wanted to see if there were better ways.

plants make new driveway look even better.

good luck with the roof repairs.

They are heavy. I bolted all six and needed help putting them on their side. I had a guy working in the yard help me put them over. These boxes were $99 normally $129. I never saw that at Home Depot. They are cheap. Thin gauge steel. Not the best but together as a whole with my new wheels and the laminate top I think it will be solid!

These boxes come with a magnetic paper towel holder. I used one to make a holder for my garden Hose. It’s been sitting in the sink and it doesn’t work. I was thinking of a way to weld something but I don’t have the tools. Also the sink is stainless but the cheap kind so magnets stick to it a072833ec0464598c6ae5c8b932a0870.jpg

BTW I know the store was a Zoo on Black Friday but when I was there on Sunday all my boxes were pulled and set aside. Somewhere between Monday and Wednesday they sold two of my darn boxes out from under me. Two of the bottom drawers are damaged. This metal is so soft :( . Anyway I got what I paid for. All the trouble it has been bolting them together I should have just bought a bunch of GOOD boxes. My mistake. Learn from me. Cheap is costly!

So I ordered four of these gladiator lockers on sale at Home Depot. Same plan bolt them together put wheels on them roll them around. They’re not too fun putting together and thin gauge metal but they’ll do the job. One other disadvantage is that the shelves will never be able to be moved since they’re bolted in. 130911b841b95e6d744168c263c49e01.jpg4e2079763596a9409527f656e546b9e5.jpg80d7794f0c338d725f02dac2b146ab60.jpga115f5104d8e0c38a0e9b8b8cd464197.jpg

So I used my new table made up of those boxes to build those cabinets. It works very nicely even with just a plywood top for now83b5c41fe33b3a40102c33392ee5700d.jpg

Hef: looks great and like you are GETTING ORGANIZED especially once you fill up all those drawers. do you put blue tape on drawers and mark what's in them with a sharpie until you are certain everything is how you like it and make something more permanent? I like more Vintage cabinets and stuff cause of the look and of course the thicker gauge steel, but yours looks like it will do the job.

have you tried other cordless tools or did you just start buying Milwaukee and how do you like them? i bought ryobi 18v tools and hated how the old batteries wouldn't hold a charge, but they fixed their batteries so i'm pretty happy now. i like all my Milwaukee power tools (worm saw, bandsaw, hammer drill, angle drill) and wondering if their cordless ones might be a good upgrade if i ever need to change from Ryobi?

your pictures look great and i'm betting even though a lot of posters are not posting and saying so if the pictures stay on your thread and you keep posting regular the viewers will become posters too.

cheers

Thanks I use Tapatalk since they host the pictures ever since the Photobucket debacle and I don't get it because tapatalk kinda *****! You can't pick multiple pictures and that makes uploading really tough!

Yeah I like the older boxes too. I have a couple of kennedy boxes that were my dads. They look like the new stuff but are just awesome. I will take some pics of them. They sat on our workbenches for decades when I was a kid.

I haven't labeled anything yet and today I moved more stuff all around.

I honestly don't love the Milwaukee stuff but there are a lot of tools out there and a lot of people talked me in to the ecosystem. I did buy a dewalt driver and some dewalt tools. My favorite is the 12v Dewalt driver and impacter. They have the lights in the head of the driver and not underneath and it just works better. Amazon has a $25 off $100+ on a lot of tools and that set is in there so I just bought another one. I have a tool addiction. I guess it beats drugs, booze and hookers so it not so bad. If it new and shiny and looks like a good idea I generally grab it!

I just bought a track saw. Nope I don't need one but I have wanted one for YEARS and Makita had a deal with a extra pair of batteries. I was sold!

Thanks for the encouragement again! The thread seems quiet. I try to make it collaborative and ask questions. Someone very early in this thread told me to dump the third door on my building on the North side and it was honestly the best thing I ever did! It would have been awful! and it made my mezzanine work really really well! So I love the community and the input. I am not a know it all and appreciate insight and perspective!

Hef: I've heard from everybody on GJ and all my friends and clients that own a track saw that they love it so hope you do too.

one thing to maybe get more viewers on your thread is to spend a few minutes on other member's threads and get to know them and their projects so they'll know a bit more about you and maybe come over here and make a post or two. as many posts as i have and as many friends and members that i know here on GJ i still can have a thread go dead so to speak or not get my questions answered and i'll have to research and get answers elsewhere.

have your milwaukee tools had issues or have they been working as well as they should? i forgot to look but what voltage are they 12, 18 or ??

cheers

Hef: I LOVE my little Ryobi 18v impact and not sure how i ever used to be without it. good to know that Milwaukee makes a decent one in case i ever want to change and i do like the red instead of that LIME GREEN that Ryobi decided to use.

your new toolboxes might not be vintage, but they look great and i bet they'll work just fine.

good luck on the roofing

I had the driveway all cleaned a couple days ago and things look better! I will try to post pics later today.

I had some guys come in and help me build and finish up some stuff. They bolted the two toolboxes for cordless tools together and put the better wheels on them. We got the lockers all put together. Stained the butcher block on the one table, replaced the shelf with black liner ply and added another shelf. Last but not lease we built and installed the blue laminate top for the mobile work area on top of the 6 boxes bolted together. I will post as many pics as I can today. Wish tapatalk would be better but it sounds like years have gone by with no corrections to adding multiple pictures at once!

HEFF: when i first joined i used Photobucket cause i liked the big clear pictures from their links and shortly after i joined they changed their posting methods that i didn't like so i've been clicking on the paperclip ever since. see the paperclip just above where you are writing your posts? click on it and you can download up to 7 pictures per post that come up as thumbnails and a user can click on them and have full size pics in a second. that way they are on GJ's site as long as the owners can keep it running instead of when a photo image site decides to hold all our pictures hostage like PB just did.

i know i have issues posting from my cell phone and my Ipad so i usually wait to post pictures from my laptop either in Google Chrome or Windows Explorer works equally well.

good luck and ask questions if you might need more help and if i don't know the answer maybe somebody else can help you with Tapatalk since i don't use it.

Thanks I didn't think we could upload here. This is a site called imgur which is supposed to be good but the problem with it is that they won't allow pics to be seen on this forums because its considered commercial since people post stuff for sale. I started my own website: http://neilspics.com/

I just need to make it run faster and all. I should just host it here at home...

Some updated pics. We did landscaping on the porch side and some of the other projects.
