I've been watching these, and they seem to be one of the few holiday items that have not dropped significantly in price. I might have to make a couple more trips to HD.

I just saw them too but they were still marked 17.99 or whatever.

Might go back and actually price check them to see if they've dropped.

FINALLY

Bessey 4 pack down to $9.90.

Luckily for me, the last four had damage to the packaging, so an extra $10 off just from asking the naive girl working the customer service desk. :pimpflash

I agree 100%. No way would I buy that from the guy.

Without this forum I would think about it because I likely would not know how much he paid for it.

I don't see why selling these items on CL or Ebay is a problem. If some one finds a good deal and wants to markup and resell the item, more power to him. Even at $250, whoever ends up buying the saw is still getting a GREAT DEAL. so what if it's not what the original buyer paid. BTW, that's how retail stores work. They buy items from manufacturers/vendors at a certain price, mark them up, and resell them. Why are we more accepting of the retail process, but so judgmental of the guy who does the same thing? :dunno:

This.

Someone in this thread said they put the miter saw up on CL for 350 and had multiple calls within hours. We all know the price paid was more like 100, but the buyer at 350 even said the next step up is 600.00 for the DWS780, so why not 350 to have the same saw minus a couple features.

Even knowing how much someone paid for it, unless we can find it ourselves, 250.00 might be the best option!

"FIRM $250"

We got it, man - no need to yell. You're definitely worth the $175 dollar markup because you drove to HD, picked it up and drove it home. Probably took less than a half hour. Guy makes more than most professionals I know..

lol - knowing what it cost someone, I could never buy that based on principle alone. Just my opinion, though.

I agree 100%. No way would I buy that from the guy.

Ignorance is bliss I guess. If you make all your decisions based on what a supplier paid for something you would buy almost nothing.

Memphis, TN.

The store system showed 2 in stock. a couple employees looked for them and couldn't find them. After they stopped looking I found it myself and got one of them to get it down for me. Never found the second one though.

The Husky 41 inch boxes from Black Friday look to be on sale now - just saw them in Houston at the hwy 6 / Richmond store down from $548 to $398. That is for the top and bottom. They had three sets in boxes on an end cap and one on display with the tools (though the display one still said $498).

They also had a full display of the Bessey 4 packs (I would guess at least 20 packs), still marked $18 or so, but maybe they would ring up at the price others are getting. Three of the palm nailers also - $7 or so each.

Did anyone notice they added an actual inventory system to the website? It appears to only be helpful for the items coded as being sold in store, so once they move the clearance item to "online only" like they have been doing it won't be any help.

I am going to check on the shed after work today, there are plenty in my area, hopefully they are not regular price.

:( that is what I was scared to hear. I will get them to run inventory for the district so I can see all the local store prices. Will post tonight if I have any luck.

There are quite a few of the Dremel 6-Amp Saw-Max Tool Kits available in HD stores in California. The prices at in-store check-out are still at $99.00. Anyone know what the story is on these? Is this a YMMV and is not nationwide? Seems the other items (miter saw, table saw, etc.) were nationwide.

That website view is totally different than the one I am getting.. where are you seeing that?

Sorry, I snapped that picture from one of the in store computers at the "Pro Desk". The store computers show inventory for clearance items.

Normally I would agree with you, it's free market capitalism. None of us go to work and give our time and skills away for free, and most of us likely aren't working for charitable organizations either. If you randomly stumbled across a good deal and flipped it for a profit then more power to you. What rubs me the wrong way is coming to a community of like-minded people who have the same interests and would use and enjoy these tools themselves, many of whom are helping each other out by offering to pick up items that other members can't find locally, and using the deal threads where others are posting info to benefit the community to go clear out all remaining stock to sell on Craigslist at a $250 mark up. You could argue that "if I don't do it someone else will," and sure, the vultures on slickdeals that will buy stuff they don't even have a use for probably will. Personally I choose not to do that. I was fortunate enough, after putting in a lot of time searching, to be able to snag some of these items for myself. I'm grateful for the input shared in this thread, because as much as I would love to have a table saw or miter saw, I can't justify full retail price when I have more pressing financial obligations. This thread allowed me to acquire some new tools that I will enjoy in my personal hobbies, not to earn money with or to sell for a profit, but just to enjoy. I did run across a few extras that I could've flipped for an easy profit, but left them for the next guy who will hopefully enjoy them. I'm not trying to get all holier than thou on anyone, I realize that there are as many different viewpoints and circumstances out there as there are people and I can't judge everyone by my single viewpoint. Hey, maybe the guys buying out the stores are small business owners who are using these tools to make a living and feed their families, or maybe they're flipping them to buy diapers for their kids or meds for sick family members. I can't know everyone's motivations in life, just offering a viewpoint of someone who looks at it a different way. I do know that I'd be a bit peeved though to roll into the third or fourth HD of the day just as the CL hawker is loading with the last four saws the store had into the back of his truck, I'd be disappointed if it was a guy from GJ. I'm not gonna be that guy.

The clearance item is SM20-02, not -03.

^^^^This.

I feel the same way. My thought is that this thread is to help the members by allowing them to get good deals on stuff that would be too expensive for them otherwise. I don't think it should be used as a moneymaking opportunity for a few to swoop in and **** up all the deals to sell on CL.

I have been giving info from the hot deals thread to a good friend whose garage burned to the ground a few weeks ago. He lost a lifetime worth of tools. Any tips I can give him help him to get back on his feet have been greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of great people on this forum who truly enjoy helping others. That's one of the many reasons I hang around here. I love a good deal as much as the next guy, but I only buy what I need. Buying every item, just to sell them, kind of craps on the whole vibe of this thread.

I see no issue with it. I just bought a load of wrenches on clearance for 5 bucks.......sold them all for 15 each within a week.. the sets in stores are 30 or 40 bucks. Everyone is happy. Id do the same with the miter or table saws. Would I cut someone I know a deal.....you bet!

I feel like if you buy an extra one or two, go for it. If you buy some to resell here for a reasonable (ie you pay shipping, etc) amount, go for it.

If you take from the community just for profit, well realistically nothing but karma will really be the consequences.

Honestly I'm not sure. I've seen the SDS drill around here once. It might be worth stopping in and talking to Customer Service (or I've had the best luck with the Pro Desk guys). They may be able to order it for you in-store and apply the coupon. Can't hurt to ask.

The coupon says in store only. What if the tool is only online? I am thinking of getting the cordless sds hammer drill and that's not in any stores in this area

Store coupons are only good in store and online only good online. I keep hoping this will change soon.

Just a note:
I went to my local HD and used the computers at the pro desk. They chased me off and sent me to a computer up by the customer service desk.

This computer had chairs and was more comfortable, and had no one hanging around and wanting to use it, like the ones at the pro desk that had associates always on them. It had internet access, so I could check this thread for deals.

I'm not sure it had as good an ability to check that stores stock. It was just like getting on the net at home. I could always ask someone to check stock on the one at the pro desk, or any clerk with his handheld one. The handheld ones also show the penny stock, that they won't sell you.

I've been in there so much that I know the associates by name now. And they greet me and Bob in the tool section helps me hunt down stuff. There is still a Dremel we can't find.

On the instore computers if you select the Store PC Menu, then the Price Checker link, it will allow you to enter the sku and see the price, the inventory and the inventory in nearby stores. The store inventory is accurate, but they subtract 1 from the inventory of other stores. Penny items do not show up however.

Is this available on the one by customer service or just the ones at the pro services area?

The screen needs to look like this, then you click the price check app.

4nUsvUEl.jpg

Yeah I was using one of these in the flooring department yesterday. Multiple employees walked by me and no one batted an eye.

It was promising for the first SKU I typed in (precision prybar set, even though there was no inventory at least it popped up) but the rest that I typed in came up not found (Husky 3 bag combo, M12 heated hoodies)

Sometimes you have to preface the 6 digit sku with 1000, sometimes not. But those 2 items are probably at the penny level now.

The hoodie (at least not in XL) is not penny yet. I actually found and bought one yesterday :)

Cashier couldnt believe I found it in their store, since he was looking for one himself.

Some stores clearance things faster than other stores. Especially in different regions. Once an item reaches a penny at one store, you cannot check its inventory from another store. It always shows 0.
