I think the penny program in the RI-Southern Mass region is disabled. Found Temp2O shower heads full price. But there was a nice Delta H20Kinetic 75559 shower head on clearance for 18.06, date 9/1/15, swear it was gonna be my first penny deal. Rang up at 18.06, which is fine because the wife wants a new shower head and I think it was 39 or 49 originally.

Edit-This shower head is so closed out HD.com doesnt even show it in inventory in my area, but this store had at least 6 of them.

Yeah, picked up the table for my freshly rebuilt workshop. I am considering getting the cabinets drawers as I got one last year for 3×.××

These are likely the new ones. The old ones are the ones being cleared out.

My store is pretty on the penny items, pulling them, marking them back up to a different price, etc. But I found one today they forgot to mark. First penny item.

Picked up a couple of Ridgid 8" tile saw blades for a penny each. Couldn't find anything else though. Pretty good for my local stores though, they're all pretty good about keeping penny items off the sales floor.

I have to put up a fight about 50% of the time. 49% they didn't notice I scanned pennies. 1% say nice deal without even questioning it.

I was in my departments property room today and the girl that works in the property room who also works part time at HD on weekends as a cashier told me they are supposed to refund the penny and give you the item. She told me that when the penny Brita water bottles came up that Monday the manager had them throw them all in the garbage. That's dumb they can give them to customers, employees, or donate them? She says that's how some managers are.

She's been there for about a year and she was trained to give the item to the customer in her store, and tell them that the item was discontinued and they were supposed to pull them from the shelves, since the customer found them they are theirs to keep fro free.

I wish all the employees were trained that way. :eyecrazy:

That is so stupid to throw them away. At least donate them....god that pisses me off to throw something away that is brand new and usable.

does anyone have experience with guys selling gift cards right near the store entrance?
A guy today offered me a $65 gift card for $45. I took it, used it and gave him cash back when I was done. the funny thing is I thought I didn't have enough cash and he was fine with whatever I had. but turned out I did have enough so I gave him the $45. I don't know where these people get them from but I took his number and may use him again.
I hope there is no way I could get in trouble

I use online sites with digital codes all the time. Giftcardzen and others. Easy way to save money. Don't know that I would buy it from a guy outside Home Depot. There was a ring of people that were stealing and returning merchandise around here. Then selling those cards. Don't think you could get in trouble just...

well he trusted me so I took the card used it, came out and paid him cash. I wouldn't buy a gift card for half price if I had to pay for it right away.

my other concern is - what if I need to return the merchandise... can I have issues getting gift card money back?

Yep. Cards bought from the exchange sites and other resellers can get you on the list to be denied returns. Many of those cards come from theft rings.

that's why I paid the rest in cash today. I don't intend to return this merchandise but I would like to see if I can adjust the price if the price drops. so I guess return/rebuy my not be an option.

They could be actually gifts, but most people that get a HD gift card as a gift probably can use it. Gift cards are bought online or in stores with stolen credit cards.

HD got ripped off when the gift card was stolen becasue they probably wont get paid by he CC company, now the card is being used to rip off merchandise.

No thanks..

Yes, it's a very common theft scheme. Here's how it works in its most basic form:

Shithead goes to store with liberal return policy (like Home Depot and Lowe's, which don't require receipts).
Shithead steals some merchandise from that store.
Shithead goes back to the store with said merchandise and claims he paid cash for it and he wants to return it. The store will not give him cash because he has know receipt and while they can't prove it they know what he is up to, so they give him a gift card.
Shithead then goes into the parking lot, where he knows he will find many potential buyers, and sells this gift card at a discounted price.
Shithead then uses the money to go buy crack or heroin or meth or whatever poison he prefers.

There are many different variants on the scheme, but that's the basic version of it.

They used to donate them to habitat for humanity back in the day (10 plus years ago). Problem is habitat for humanity has places where they sell things so between volunteers stealing the items or habitat selling them for next to nothing it caused problems. People would bring the product in with no receipt and be getting full price gift cards for the product they paid a couple bucks for.
Sad part is was when the fire department got called to the local HD and when it was put out the bottom of compactor was filled with Dewalt power tools. The firefighters were blown away that all these brand new products where just thrown away.
Moral of story is all it takes is one bad apple to ruin the bunch...

Picked up a Dewalt DW745 table saw last night, marked down to $229 from $299. Going to hold off from opening and see if the price drops and can get a price adjustment.

Even at $229 its worth it to keep for a replacement to my 15yr old skil.

They probably steal stuff and return without receipt and get gift card.It is just like panhandling and I do not listen to their story. Lowes store I go to sometimes has $4000 dollars returned with out receipt. They can sell cheap when they do not have much in it.The other thing that happened around here was menards would take something back because of warranty. A little later they would sell a semi load to these people in okla city. The customer would return it to the depot without a receipt.

Can anyone answer a question about price adjustments?

I too was thinking of buying the dewalt table saw, but it would have to be from a HD that has them in stock a little ways a a way. If the price does drop after I buy it what would happen if I went to a local HD looking for a price adjustment from something bought at a different HD?

In my experience unless the store your requesting the change at has it for the sale price, you will get the "we don't price match other stores" speech.
