That is so stupid to throw them away. At least donate them....god that pisses me off to throw something away that is brand new and usable.

Corporate knows that if the old merchandise gets into the reseller pipeline it will eat into their current sales. Stock holders don't care about expanding the landfills, they just want more profits. That makes us the saviors of the environment ! As long you ignore the amount of gas we consume stalking the deals.

Found a Ridged 10" diamond blade (black) figured I had a penny deal. The price tag said $52.?? took to self check register and did a price scan it came up as $62.??. What the #@&^???? I thought the price was set by corporate? Can each store override the system price?

I picked up a DW745 before Xmas and am very happy with it. Very light and easy to move around. For the $299 I paid, I can't complain.

I pulled the trigger on the DW745 last night at $229. My HD was down to 2 in stock and I don't see it going any lower before they disappear. My old table saw was 12 years old and limping along.

Story of my life thus far. See folks getting deals like the Schlage locks, look them up and they are still full price at the 10+ HD stores in my area.

Similar story here (Ohio). I'm noticing our clearance drops are about 3 months behind what everyone else is posting.

Example: The Husky garage cabinets that have already hit penny in some areas went on clearance in November, and had their first major price drop about a week ago.

Unfortunately, yes.

It seems like an advantage because you'll know what's coming!

The tools manager at my store informed me that it was corporate policy years ago to donate EVERYTHING. This was before RTV existed. What happened was they donated everything to local charities....And he said they were getting at least 40% of the merchandise walked back through the door here and returned for store credit by the charity employees. They even tried crossing off barcodes, but they found a good number of items still found their way back into the store. Multiply that by how many stores across the US....The charities actually have themselves to blame.

Which makes the $0.01 price strategy a perfect solution. If it hits penny, gets donated, and someone attempts to return without a receipt... the most they can get back is a penny in store credit.

5 more penny door knobs. See what happens when I show up? They have to call the fire department.

Actually it wasn't funny, an employee fell and was bleeding pretty bad.

lol it was the only thing I could find in Somersworth the other day. Waiting to see if the Lincoln welding wire at .03 is really on clearance or not. They zeroed out the inventory

You keep that store wiped clean lol

I scored my first penny deal, and in a bazaar fashion!! I hit a few stores last night looking for the garage door openers and found 2 on an upper shelf. I couldn't find any stairs to get them down, so I asked an associate to help. He got a staircase, went up, scanned them, and said "that's weird, I need to call my manager". We ended up at the service desk where he was, and the manager started typing away on the computer. Realizing what they were, he said "I can sell you both for $50.02, which is a lot cheaper than original". I told him that I had to think about it, and he agreed to put them behind the service counter if I wanted to come back tomorrow and get them.

Well, as soon as I left I wish I would have went ahead and bought them because I need them. So today my wife was out running errands and I asked her to stop by and get them. I honestly didn't expect them to still be there, thinking the manager probably corrected the mistake and put them in the back. Well low and behold they were behind the counter. The associate scanned them and said that she had to call the manager. The manager (not sure if it was the same one) said it was our lucky day and sold them to us for not $50.02, but $0.02!!

Sku? I'd like one of those for that price.

Picked up 2 8" and 1 10" Ridgid tile saws for pennies earlier. Not sure what I'm going to do with them though. :lol_hitti

They have a Husky rolling drawer setup and hanging cabinet for around $30 each near me but they are display units. Really don't need them but tempting. (They are up high so I couldn't get a good look at them.)

I picked up a bunch of the Schlage interior stuff on clearance for about $7-$10 (to redo my house), but haven't run into any combo sets for the front and back door. I could really use a couple of sets in brushed nickel. I'm going to keep looking!
