Her drivers license number. Is how they track non receipt returns

Yea, no I know that, but she never bought it in the first place. There's no way to tie the original purchase to her. All they can do is flag her for trying to return something. Again, no way to to tie a purchase to her because it was paid for with cash at a different store. Maybe that's part of the occasion. Store to store returns.

Return only without receipt.

Also connected to other retailers. The only one I know for sure besides HD is Best Buy. So check to see if she can remember any other retailer she has done a no-receipt at.

They also track returns to your license that are originally done with a gift card or store credit. It also counts as a no-receipt return essentially when you return something off a transaction that was paid for with store-credit. (I only use store-credit for something I know there is no way it is going back at HD).

The giving of your purchase history to a third party is something the retailers don't exactly want to advertise.

My problem popped up while building a house. Buying a lot of things that end up being a pile towards the end, but by that time you have already done several no-receipts, and the cashier doesn't mention any of this at the time of return, just "we can take care of you now, i just need your license." Manager didn't care after I explained things, and I came back 3-4 months later and took care of it.

Yea she said she hasn't returned anything anywhere, first and only time was about 6 months ago at HD mentioned about. It's just strange to me. I'm going to try to return it myself and see what they say. No biggie either way just a strange set of rules. I own a rental property and I've overbought and returned tons of stuff with nothing. Good insight though, she wasn't thrilled about the third party when I told her

an online order returned within the time frame won't trigger anything. even if you are "banned" from no-receipt returns, you still can do regular returns. that is when I found out that the purchases made with store-credit or gc's will also be declined if you are banned.

i worked retail before this all happened, so it did get my curiosity going on how their system works. I don't have a problem with most of it, except that not 1 customer service person has ever told me the negative side of a no-receipt return, and if it is going to a third party, all the more reason for them to explain.

Just in case you were wondering what they say if your flagged for returns, the wifey is now flagged. Which is weird because she only returned once before, a bunch of stuff we had left over from a project. Which was legitimate lol

Ah well. What can you do. Just thought I'd share.

And THIS is exactly why you should never let them have your D/L for a WARRANTY replacement - it should be processed as such - if they ask for your D/L they are bing lazy and just doing a no-receipt return.

Also, go ahead and warn other family members. My wife got banned (due to me being banned) on her first return. My dad got banned as well and he rarely does any returns, especially without a receipt. The way they ban has caused me to start avoiding HD for my larger projects.

They just came out with new perks for their credit card, one being a 1-year return period. Can't see too many excuses with that much time.

Few things from my quick stop on the way home from work tonight. Will probably go back and try to find the Milwaukee drills this weekend.

Sorry guys. I've been searching and searching for the thread that tells you how to find the clearance items. Can anyone point me in that direction or give a friendly reminder?

I think the nailers were from last year unless it just recently happened in your region.

I really need one of those pas lode nailers. What's the scoop on them? Are some a penny and other 100$ just not yet down in price? Which model is it?

Got 3 of the 2 1/2 garage kit of the rustoleum gray epoxy kits. Hopefully should be enough to do 2 coats. Also have 4 boxes of the epoxy shield gloss. I'll probably keep 2 kits to use. Debating on what to do on the other 2 kits

The CF325LI should be penny everywhere now. I am pretty sure the clearance was nation wide. It was replaced with the "XP" model.

The trim nailers were only clearance at some stores, and are likely penny as well if you find a store that got rid of them.

As soon as I get on a computer they have a store meeting at that computer. Not a great picture but there was literally 30-40 employees!

Happened to me 3 times in the past 2 weeks. What that means is just about every other computer in the stores is unmanned so off I go to the Appliances or Doors & Windows section to surf there. :3gears:

I didn't budge and continued my searches, they never said a word til the end and just asked if I needed any help. Had her try to track down this tool box for me, unfortunately the only store around with any was still full price at $9xx.**

Something similar happened to me this morning. It wasnt a store meeting but the store was so dead that employees just kinda converged behind me while I was checking the computer.

"Looking for the clearance items, eh?" one guy said then scurried quickly behind the pro desk....I wonder if he was trying to write down what I was searching for, or maybe making a sketch of my face :eyecrazy:

That is a question I had, can I use any PC in the store? Some have a PC with no register in the lightning dept, tons on the carpet and kitchen area, etc. are you going to get kicked off or yelled at using those stations?

sigh.... I was assuming if it said 0 it was completely gone.

Seen it both ways. PCA shows 0.0 or even -1.0 yet I still find the item in the overhead. Then I've seen it show and item on hand and it's nowhere to be found even with store employees looking for it as well.

If they do not have a customer-facing computer, your best bet IMHO are the computers in the Appliance section.

FYI, I think my brother did a no receipt return and they somehow did it without asking for his ID and on the receipt it had this.

Maybe they have a general no receipt return number they enter and that has been flagged?

Did they ask your wife for her CC or ID?

I was at a store last weekend that showed 3.0 on hand for the Powermate 3250 Generator. i searched the entire store and spent about an hour and a half with no luck.

I was also at a store last week that showed 0.0 on hand of the clearance M18 sawzall. found one in the overhead. The employee that got it down said it might have been a return from another store.

I usually head to the generator aisle prior to looking on the computer. Only after looking in the overhead around the generator area, do I head to the computer. 2 weeks ago, i found a clearance generator in the overhead and the computer said 0.0 on hand (guess it says -1.0 now :D )
