Opinion wanted. sold a faucet on ebay. Packages was strapped and unopened. My mistake not checking before shipping.
Auction says no returns.
buyer sends msg. Hey this wasn't protected inside the box. No damage to box, but there are 3 scratches on the neck of the faucet. I want a refund and return.

I dont answer for two hours, and the guy starts an ebay damage return claim. Which with me having no returns, I have to eat the shipping back to me if ebay decides in favor of this guy.

I write msg back to him explaining he couldhave given me more than two hours. (as in his claim he mentions he stilllllllll hasn't heard from seller) Tell him the box was like that from manufacturer and to contact delta. Delta tells him 40.00 plus shipping or return it to seller.
I have an extra one I could replace his with but I don't want to pay shipping three times. And after my last reply, he replied and is already on the Did you get my message did you get my message?

Not enough experience with ebay. Will they side with seller or buyer, and would you just eat the cost and exchange the faucet for him?

eBay never helps the seller... I have a garage door opener sold in Oct 2015.. Buyer issued a claim 2/8 saying it's getting loud.. They are making me take it back...

I believe paypal will cover ** number of return shipping labels per year. You'll have to look it up. They do it as a courtesy to sellers IIRC.

Ya I've known ebay is not kind to sellers, haven't sold on there in awhile, but thought I'd try it. Think I'll start to back off again... Thanks for the ideas. I'll try them and see what happens..

Call eBay up directly and explain to them that it was new unopened and no shipping damage. Tell them you think the guy is trying to scam you by returning a used one and keeping the one you sent.

Another option is to call Delta, act like you're the buyer and give them his shipping address. Tell them it was missing a part in the box or it was damaged in the box, and the box was new unopened. Tell them you can't return it to HD because it was on clearance and they no longer carry it.
That worked for me for a couple parts for a Glacier Bay faucet. The difference, though, is that when you call Glacier Bay, you're actually calling Home Depot.

I've gotten plenty of free replacement parts from other companies as well.. Dewalt/Stanley/Black and Decker, Ryobi, Echo.
Just be careful how you word it. And don't mention that it was a penny, if it even was.

Careful about calling eBay and saying you think they are trying to scam you. I'd try to fix the issue before resolving it with eBay. Spn, your issue sound more like a scam than this issue. I'd call the manufacturer and try to have them send out a replacement (I've had to do this with Apex for some cman tools). Claiming "scam" will just get you negative feedback, and still the possibility of eBay siding with them. Treat buyers how you'd like to be treated if you were on the other end of the deal. It's part of the cost of doing business. If it ends up costing you extra $$$, make a claim with the shipping company for damaging the merchandise.

I just sold a brand new phone on ebay that I almost got to bite the shipping on (and take back an opened package). I said it was for Verizon only. In fact, that was the only thing I put in the description, but eBay put in the specs that it was unlocked & had CDMA & GSM radios. I had 'no returns' listed, and I said no when he asked. He started a claim, and eBay sided with him. I woke up to that email on a Saturday morning, and I called into eBay and someone answered amazingly quick. I told him the situation, and he looked at the description and sided with me instantly. Back to Saturday sleep.

The buyer had a rating of 0. Shouldn't haven't sold to him to begin with. I had a 100% 70+ sales rating, and he almost wrecked it. I was more worried about my rating than taking the phone back.

In your situation I would say that it is a brand new item from the manufacturer, still sealed, and the buyer should contact them (which is why you selected no returns). Shouldn't have damage if it they packed it right.

Heres an update on what happened yesterday.

I went to the store after work yesterday and talked to the manager that left me the voicemail, he still claimed to be the store manager i guess I will have to take his word for it. He shook my hand and he immediately went to grab the penny items that I had paid for yesterday. When He came back he rang up the items for a penny each and then handed them to me with the receipt and gave them to me for free. He apologized for the actions of the LP guys and said there would be disciplinary actions and additional training for them and the other employees on penny merchandise. I guess that means they get to keep there jobs. Also I doubt they will change there policy at the store level when it comes to penny items, im tempted to go grab some more penny items that I left the last time just to see if he is telling the truth.

He said if I ever have any issues or need anything resolved to go to him first. Im guessing they really want to avoid those negative customer care calls/emails. I have a feeling they are more concerned with covering their own *** than making customers happy. I wonder if he is aware that they contacted the district office as well.

He then started asking a bunch of questions about how I know what penny items are and how I find them. He asked if I was a HD employee or if I ever worked for HD, I said no. He asked if there was some website I follow and I said no I just follow the clearance items closely which isnt entirely untrue. He went on to say that there are no more penny items in his store and that inventory is coming up so there surely wont be any after that and I laughed. I said follow me and I walked him over to the garden area and pointed to a shelf that had a couple dozen Vigoro Weed and Feed on an upper shelf and I said those are a penny and he was dumbfounded haha. Seeing how I just scored my fair share of those at another store I didnt mind pointing them out to him just to make a point.

Now im not one for confrontation but im no push over either so I just explained to him that I dont like being treated like a criminal and if any employees be it LP or otherwise try to intimidate me in any way, especially the incident the other day in particular, over penny items that I found and more importantly paid for without having altered the packaging in anyway despite what they suggested or believed then the next meeting could end up in front of a judge and not in his store.

Maybe I was too easy on them idk, but I got what I wanted and hopefully another store that I can just scan a penny item without intervention from the attendants.

Paypal has a 6 month return policy if you use them for payments, therefore if the buyer paid though paypal, they have 6 months (180 days) to submit a dispute.

WTF. How does one go from 45 days to 180 days?

How does a seller proof what he listed and the photos if eBay doesn't show transactions that old.

On the case above....how is "it is getting loud" mean that it is significantly not as described or not received.

eBay and Paypal both know there is ZERO fear of not having enough sellers, there will always be people wanting to sell. Negative word of mouth from buyers, who are probably lying at that point to their friends, will hurt their sales more.

I don't even think Bernie Sanders would think 180 days to make everyone happy and fair is ok.

Did this ***** leave you positive feedback for the purchase already? If so then how could they do that. If not, then I still don't get 180 days.

Here is a link from paypal that says 45 days. I didn't look that hard but I did google paypal 180 days and saw nothing on a paypal webpage. I have been drinking though.

UPDATE, I found 180 days buried on another page deeper in. Geeze

I think SPN mentioned this some pages back but a bunch of the Scotts Snap lawncare stuff is .03 or penny. I bought lots of grass seed, starter, grubex and a Snap spreader...all total something like $0.16

Be aware of dates on boxes and sku. New stuff is on shelves too with I think 200xxx sku.
Sorry for pic quality, but should be good enough to make out details.

You guys know grass seed has "best by" dates? I haven't tried to use old grass seed before, but if you're prepping your lawn and taking the time to plant grass right, I wouldn't want to risk using older seed. Maybe just me though.

The fertilizer, from what I can find, doesn't really go bad in storage.

Sounds like you are in the same boat I am with my local store. Maybe they went to same trainings? :dunno:

Aware of the best buy dates on the seed. A few months passed is a risk I'm willing to take for the price paid. That seed was originally something like $28 per 7lb bag.
I do not aspire to be featured in Better Homes and Gardens. Most of the time I actually dislike mowing my lawn...crazy I know. Using it mainly to reseed bare or thin spots.

Just installed a Pfister Lindosa, Moen Finley, and the Leviton whole house surge protector.

Thanks HD.

The Finley did cost me $62 in pex parts (crimper, fittings and rings)... My old setup had a pex ball valve instead of the small valves with the 3/8 end and pex right up to the faucet with a pex to swivel connected on the inlets while the Finley has the typical faucet connector built in and needs to be connected to a 3/8 cmp fitting. So I had to cut the old pex lines above the ball valve and crimp in a small pex X 3/8 valve, as they didn't have just a pex to cmp fitting without the valve. Oh well...

Wood Pellets are $199 a ton in CT (normally $269). I will be stocking up for next year when the price will likely be $279...

Looks like they have way too much on hand due to warm winter.

At a local warehouse that supplies to garden centers which I will go to before the marked-up garden center, they have had pallets of last years grass seed that had expired set to the side. I asked about this, and they said they were waiting on re-certification.

The company that grew the seed, keeps some on hand, and will test it each year for germination. If it passes the quality control check, they will issue stickers to the supply house to re-label the expiration date.

So depending on storage conditions, the seed could very well be fine, but with so many variables, the only way to truly tell is to plant some.

Went by one hd and the bad one 6 burner brinkmann grill in back waiting on a part. I offered to purchase and mod said IF
THEY can sale it it would be 25% more off but would have to see if could. No one could come up with answers so they said leave your name and number and we will call you when head manager gets back. Two days pass and so I go back and they had sold it. They just said "sorry". One call to hd corp and 30min later call from manager they will give me an equal one from other brands only $50. Whoop! $300 dollar grill 50,07. Thanks hd corp.

I just pushed my luck and went through the SCO with the most stuff I've tried at one time. It was pretty busy but I kind of expected them to say something but what the hell, I went for it.

Rolled up with (4) Nutones, (4) Schlage electric Keypads and a box of (4) Schlage door passage sets. I get through the keypads and boom, they froze my transaction. Young guy comes over and says we can't sell those for a penny but can give them to you at the last sale price. I kindly tell him that if it's on the shelf and rings up a penny, the customer gets it at that price per HD corporate. He says we can't do that but says he'll get the manager. I tell him that's fine.

** (I got 3 valves from here about a month ago and was actually stopped for the very first time bargain hunting by the SCO clerk. At that time, the MOD came over and said I couldn't have the items for a penny but after a call to the store manager, he tells me that they have a "new" policy that if it rings up a penny, the customer gets it)

So, I wait around for at least 5 minutes holding up the line. There are now 2 young guys using the phone to call management. Finally, one of the guys hangs up his phone and looks at the other one and nods his head up and down. The clerk brings the keypad back and says manager said it's okay. Rang up the rest, dropped in a quarter and was on my way.

I almost went back in as there are still at least (6) boxes of Schlage handle/passage sets that are pennied out but decided I better not make a scene and just go back another day for another batch of stuff. In addition, I walked the ENTIRE store TWICE and there was not a yellow staircase anywhere. They had them there last week but for some reason they were gone. The orange staircase was initially close to the Schlage stuff when I there so I got on that real quick to get the stuff I bought. When I went back in the second time, the staircase was gone.

Wow this is why as much as Craiglist is pain to deal with as far as lowballers. The fact that its pure profit (no shipping fees, paypal and ebay fees) and once its done its done...no one trying to contact u down the road asking for their money back

Just sold 2 of my paslode finish nailers (92400) which i picked up for $100 each for $525 for the pair
