Checked my store today and couldn't find any of the compressors or paslodes. The 25cc toro was full price.

I was a different store this morning and Toro showed up as model 51948 as full price. The one for $33 is model 51944. I loaded up the 51948 and scanned them and they rang up for $33. The upc's are the same. Lady scanned it twice cause she didn't believe it lol

Someone (or a group of someones) in San Antonio has a lockdown on this gig. There are zero penny items in this city. Even the stuff on clearance is hard to find and in limited supply. Stores will say quantity of one or two and they are either missing out of the inventory or hidden very well. I did, however, come across a box marked something like, "Clearance Items 7-19-15" and thought it was interesting. It would be nice to see what's inside that big box.

That's snake!!!!

I was on my lunch and decide to check a nearby store. Spotted 3 Temp20's. No little yellow ladder in sight, i doubt it would have reached anyways. So I decided to try grabbing a ladder from the ladder isle and it worked perfectly. Walked the ladder over set it up grabbed them down and put the ladder back.

This store is ok with penny items so walked to SCO and they stopped me when they came up a penny and said they have to call and ask someone from plumbing. Guy in plumbing said sell it for a penny (This is what they normally do). They then called MOD. The MOD said dont sell them give them to him they are free just take them out of the boxes (this has never happened here before).

I tried to compromise with them and ask them to just cut the upc out. Nope. So I have 3 temp2o's without the boxes just the inside part that holds everything in place. That is going to make it tricky to sell.

Its one thing to call if they didnt let me have all 3 for a penny each, but to call because they gave them to me for free without the box is just shooting myself in the foot.

I can understand why they did it. They dont want things returned without a receipt for full price. Thats why i asked them to cut the upc's out. I hope this isnt a trend. On one hand it would be nice getting things free without a hassle but on the other not having the box is definitely gonna hurt resale. If i were keeping them all for myself I wouldnt mind. It would also be nice to have a receipt for warranty purposes.

I'd had said they were wedding gifts and I sure as hell am not giving someone a gift that has no box.

Damn it that would have been good. I can normally come up with something good on the spot but I was caught off guard when they didn't just let me buy them for a penny each. They normally just say 'you cant return these' and ask if there are anymore.

yea they're mostly worried that people will try to return penny items for full price. dunno why they wouldn't just cut the UPC out though...

Well no luck on those faucets..they all scanned regular clearance price as sticker says. But I did have some luck today. My store right by the house had 2 Bostich framing nailers, but they weren't clearance price. So I bought em and did a return, rebuy at another store that was showing 1 in stock at clearance price.

As soon as service girl saw price of new stuff she and another girl were like I don't think we can do that..Called MOD and he was talking with I guess store manager when he came up(could tell they were talking about this). He walked away, then a few minutes later phone rang and girl says that it was ok..Not sure I will try that again, Even though I could easily grab about 5 more at full price.:D

I'm not sure if that hurts the second store or the first store.

Found me 2 paslodes for a penny! Mod gave me a hard time and wanted to sell it at last clearance price. I had to call the corporate number. Store manager was not in the store at the time. Mod finally settled in giving me one for free and selling me the 2nd one at $100.03. I agreed with that deal. However when he was trying to ring me out he couldn't find the clearance sku to check me out with and eventually budged and gave me both for free.

I asked him if the clearance sku will tie the item to the paslodes and he said no. So then I asked him how will warranty work then? I argued that if I was going to pay the last clearance price, then the receipt should show that I purchased a paslode. How can he guarantee me that the gun will work a month from now. I think when I mentioned this he understood where I was coming from and eventually budged in to give it to me for free.

The mod kept saying that he has never sold anything for a penny, but at the last clearance price. They also brought in another hd worker who also said he was the other mod. Are there usually 2 mod in the store at one time? The "2nd mod" said he couldn't sell them at the Penny price, but can sell it for $100.03. I said okay let me think about it, but would also like to wait for the representative from corporate to call me back. 2nd mod then said okay I will be bringing these 2 paslodes to the back for who knows what. I then asked him if he was the store manager. For some reason I feel like they were trying to scare me by bringing in another mod. During this whole time, the Rep from corporate was trying to get into contact with the store manager, but she was nowhere to be found. She went on her lunch break.

All in all, I did end up with both paslodes for free. Me and the original mod started bsing around at the end saying that "he didn't do this for me wink wink" and said u don't know me anymore! I told him I already forgot his name. Lol. He also told me to tell the corporate rep that I was taken care of. I agreed to do so.

I have seen stores have 4 mods and store manager. You just have to look around and ask. They all wear orange aprons.

theres also Key holders, Basically amanager without the title, and they are more hardasses than the managers. ran into one last night I got one penny item put it in the car came back in the store and they basically folowed me around watching me as i dug through the clearance piles and carried items to the SCO to check them, they ac tually closed the SCO on me then became real unfriendly with me. Every 2 minutes a new employee gave me the "can i help you find something" and some were even called by Matt the MOD when i was by them.

Had an interesting experience yesterday: found one of the Schlage front door locks for a penny. I rang it up at self checkout, dropped in some change, and got my receipt. All of a sudden the attendant is like "Oh no! Uh-uh! We can't sell that for a penny!", and she came over and grabbed the lock. I told her I already paid and had a receipt. She said "Yeah but you saw it was a penny, and you've done this to me before!"
That was when I realized it was the same cashier who tried to stop me after I had already bought 5 Temp 2-O's, and I just walked out of the store with my receipt and faucets, lol.

She then says "I have to call LP and void this transaction. Can I have your receipt?" I say no, but call whoever you need to. She then picks up the phone for an overhead page, and blows into it. Apparently that's the code for Loss Prevention! So these two guys in plain clothes come up 10 seconds later, and they were super friendly. She explains the situation to them, and they politely say "That's up to the MOD, we have nothing to do with that". They eventually get a hold of the manager on the phone, who tells them to let me have the lock.

I should have demanded an apology from that b*tch of a cashier, but I just took the lock that she handed back to me, and walked out. The whole time the LP guys were apologizing for the wait, being very friendly, etc.

Hey, at least the LP guys were cool. I think you get better results in that type of position by being cool because if they try to get tough, A. There's really nothing they can do B. Their job is at stake not mine. I respect that they kinda followed the chain of command and in the end it worked out.
