This is my first post, but I wanted to let you know what happened and see what's up with it...
A few months ago my brother showed me how to use the computer at HD and turned me onto this site. I've been following so I could hopefully score some deals for my middle school shop class. I've gotten a few things for personal use like a pole saw and a light kit. But nothing big or major. I'm not shopping specifically for deals. Just spent $500 on paint to refinish my deck.
So yesterday afternoon, I went into the Decatur, AL store (my hometown store that I spend thousands in every year) and walked down to the ProDesk to look up a list of things that I wanted to search on clearance. An older male employee walked up behind me and asked if he could look stuff up for me and I said no that I was fine. He was persistent and when I refused his help for the third time, he walked away. Not 2 minutes later the MOD walked up and took the mouse out of my hand. She closed my windows and told me this computer wasn't for public use. She pointed out the disclaimer on the main screen (that says nothing about employee use only) and then pulled up the system screen and told me that I could look something up on the internet but not the price check app (which are both labeled public along with order checking and help I think). I said..so even though they are both labeled public, I, the public, can use the "non-public" computer, that has no indication that it's not public, for the internet but not price checking? She said exactly and I'm going to need you to leave the store. I called customer care right there. I was more upset at being treated like a criminal for checking to see if they had a clearance vacuum in stock than not being able to use the computer. Customer care said that it was a liability issue for me to use the computer in case I broke it, but that I should still be able to look stuff up on the price checker.
Is this typical? I know some of ya'll get harassed for using the computers, but I've used it multiple times and no one has ever said a thing to me.
