First time poster, I just started HD hunting this past week. I need some advice. I went to store 551 in west plano today and spotted one lonely Husky 2-drawer Mechanics Cart (SKU 1001-378-417) in the rafters. I thought this item was still $23.02, so I had an employee get it down. The guy said it was $109 online so he said he could take $45 for it.
I thought I could get it down, then say I'm gonna look around some more for other stuff, then later self checkout at the $23.02. Well he insisted on escorting me to the cashier instead, and I saw the cart ring up as a penny on the register. I innocently asked, "what does that mean?" He said it means its not in their system anymore, changed the price to $45 even though I said the last sale price was $23 at a nearby store.
I bought it thinking I might be able to take it to a different store, return/rebuy for $23.02. Are all these carts now a penny? What should I do? I'm going to return the cart if I can't get it for $23, a penny would just be icing, but not necessary. Should I have climbed up the large "employee only" stepladder myself to get the item?
Also, I found a lot of Husky one-socket 15' extension cords (SKU 165-263) at that store for a penny. They aren't on display and the PCA shows none in stock, but there are still 3 full cardboard boxes of 12 each. The Homelite 16" chainsaws (SKU 785853) are still over $100 at that store. I really am looking for a Husky quiet air compressor, but no go in the three DFW stores I checked this past week.
