Few more pennies to add to collection. Some type of smart cord that monitors heat or problems.

At this store, the new manager is the manager from the store where the generator fiasco happened!! Don't know if he recognized me or not though..Did feel good getting him(store) for some penny items though.

Burned through 5 of my penny chainsaw chains trying to chop down a stump filled with metal.

Also got a PB580 blower for $200....and a unicorn passlode nailer that appeared to be rtv but was on the endcap for whatever reason. Girl at the front said it's a penny and that's that. Very nice about it.

Damn. I need to 51Rs. That'd be an awesome find. Were they .06s before or just all of a sudden on clearance at .03?

I always check the batteries during every visit to Midtown/Decatur/Tucker areas as I have never seen anyone buy a battery at HD, always expect to see a sale/clearance price on them but as of yesterday, still full price at the 3 local stores above.

I found a couple items that have the yellow clearance tags, with the .06 price and the date has been older than 91 days, but they are showing on the HD computer as 0.01. They are still at the clearance price when looked up in the computer. Any idea what's up with these items?

More Mikwaukee pliers. Still at .06 level everywhere I've seen them.

Saw this display last night getting the blower's figure I would come back for them. Get the blower's loaded up and head over to get them someone carried them away. Today I exacted my vengeance! Anyway the swifter filters are now a penny and I got some .03 allway razor blades.

I've noticed in the PCA that there's an example of entering multiple SKUs in the format 1000005206,1001410128,1000052149. So today I decided to try something.

I took my list of items that I check in the PCA (I keep it in Google Keep, but it's essentially a text file) that looks something like this:

1000 005 206 Husky 2-shelf wheeled cart
1001 410 128 Black & Decker battery booster
1000 052 149 Husky wheeled storage

and processed it with a Tasker task (basically a script) on my phone, resulting in a comma separated list like the example in the PCA, and saved it to a Google Docs file that was previously shared publicly, and assigned a shortened URL at http://goo.gl.

After opening the PCA on the store computer, I opened the shortened URL in a new tab in the same browser, copied the comma separated list and pasted into the search field in the PCA, and searched.

The end result was a single screen in the PCA showing all of the items I typically look for.

This was intended as a proof of concept. I'm going to work on making the whole process simpler.

Wow. What a time saver for a quick look at items you have already identified.

I've thought about something like this. I'm surprised nobody has tried a script to add a remote login.

That has clearly got to be illegal correct? If anything is going to inspire a corporate wide moratorium on any non HD employee touching a PC it's going to be something down this road. I am sure they are especially sensitive to any unauthorized remote access of their systemafter their highly publicized data breach.

I'm not saying I would do it. That would be considered hacking and illegal. I'm just surprised it doesn't happen. If they got a few instances of that they would definitely shut down access

if those kits drop before the 15th, let me know and I'll buy them and pay shipping. Its what i've been looking for to do my new to me garage floor.

Suprman, I checked the kits today, and they are still $50.04, so it doesn't look like they will drop by the 15th. Let me know if you're still interested in them.

Found these today for 1 cent each.

Should be appealing to ebayers who need stuff to pack up their goods.

I'm starting to like the hiring practices of my local HD. When i was checking out with 28 penny items, the SCO attendant was a teenage girl too busy texting away in her social media world. I don't think her eyes ever glanced away from her iphone the entire time I was checking out.

I was pretty lucky today in that regard today as well. Stopped at an HD in a small town and there was a wicker chair with a magazine open and draped over the arm at the SCO. The old woman that I believe was supposed to be manning it was over at the regular checkout lanes chatting up another senior citizen man. I had four Penny Kleins and had to go over and get her to take the security devices off of two of them once I was done checking out.

Thought I had my first penny deal today. Clearance price of 19.06 with a date of 1/14/16. No such luck. Still scanned at the 19.06 price. Oh well...I'll figure this stuff out eventually.

Keep on trying! I was denied on a couple of January .03/.06 stickers today as well.

I'm still so clueless about this penny stuffs, thanks to you guys, I got plenty of deals lately on tools by checking the clearance on the computers. About the penny stuff though, do I just look for clearance items end with. 02 and .03 that date back around a month and bring it to check out?

For all the above posters: I don't see there being anything "illegal" with what he's describing...he's not "hacking" into anything. He's copying and pasting sku numbers into the public price check app, using the public internet browser.

Moving on...the reason I don't think it will be helpful is this: when you enter a list of skus separated by commas, if there are any items that would show up as "item not found" when entered individually, they simply are skipped over entirely, and you end up with a list of only the items that are still in the system. If you're interested in figuring out which items are a penny, then you're out of luck since you won't know which items come up as "not found".

I suppose you could always scan your original list to figure out which items didn't show up in the pca list...but that just seems like more work to me than entering the skus individually. It would be useful for displaying the latest clearance markdowns though.

You missed the post below. This is what they were responding to ...

I've thought about something like this. I'm surprised nobody has tried a script to add a remote login.

Since I have written scripts/programs that read data from webpages in ways not originally presented by the website operator, I had to research what was illegal.

As long as the intent wasn't to damage, steal or defraud, remotely reading data freely given away on a computer without a logon probably wouldn't be illegal.

But no one should try. As pointed out, HD would take away all the computers.
