Would you guys believe I found 3 of the ShelterLogic Shed-in-a-Tents a couple days ago? $20 a pop. I couldn't believe they were still around, and they weren't even hidden. They were in the rafters, but in plain sight. On vacation at Virginia Beach, and HD has been treating me a whole lot better than the fish have.

Hey I'm in VB - what store? Also, how did you know to even locate them? Thanks!

As posted before, it looks as if your purchases don't have to fall within the highlighted dates exactly. They just have to be postmarked within 60 days of purchase and submitted with any form...

Yes I know. I have some I am still trying to get approved and they keep telling me they have to be during the highlighted week and the 60 days is just saying form has to be mailed within 60 days of the date of purchase. It is pretty much common sense that is how it is suppose to be looking at the form with the highlighted week in year for purchases but the wording on the form does not say that week so I know people are having success. I keep on them though.

Stinking store manager kicked me off a PC earlier today. An employee walked by and then came back with her...she was like "are you the one looking for penny skus?" I asked her how to use the PC to find them. Kindly walked away as I was close to being done.

She also made a point to say how only items on the floor are for sale and nothing in the overhead, which is baloney if it's not a penny item. Kinda pissed b/c all I was after was clearance pricing, don't have the time to spend all day looking for penny items.

You should have had them pull down a few water heaters and tool boxes from the top shelf, then told them you couldn't buy them because they're not for sale, and walk away.

the only realistic way is to go to the other store. The PCA won't give you accurate results when trying to check inventory at remote stores. One example would be the Lincoln welding carts. At my local store, the PCA said the nearest one was an hour and a half away. Found one at a store near my work and 06GMC found another at the other store near our work.

People have suggested that the remote store inventory count in the PCA is -1, but there's really no way of knowing if that means 1 or 0 at the stores, unless you go there and check for yourself.

Most important thing is, DO NOT call the store and ask if they have it. That's just putting dollar signs in the employee's eyes.

Sometimes its probably ok to call. Espcially if you think it will result in a wild goose chase. One store had the M18 fuel drill for $75 none in stock. One store a ways away said it had 5. In the same district, but knowing that they clearance price when they have no stock, and stores that have stock its full price. I called, sure enough. $150. This is the bare tool btw. I think they do that to mess with us. Saved me a trip though.

I did get the 3rd degree from what i assume was a MOD this morning. They had 2 M12 kits for $135 in the overhead. An orange ladder was right there but it was a tool area in the front of the store so everyone would have seen me. Asked a guy to get it down, he does. I check and make sure its not a used return and she asks if I need help, say no I'm good. Then asks if I got it out of the overhead. I said it was. Asks to scan it, shows clearance price. Asked if I got it down myself and say no the associate did. (granted usually i just fend for myself when possible)

So it struck me kind of odd. But could have been harmless.

should have asked her why they're hiding clearance in the overhead when it should be in the clearance section.

I'm starting to think that HD wants the items to penny out instead of them being purchased at clearance prices.

Wonder if their 'vendor' credit is more than the last clearance price so it benefits them financially to let it go unsold and return it...I'm likely giving them too much credit and they are just lazy / want the items for themselves/employees.

they don't return to vendor ... it goes in the trash compactor. but yea, it's 50/50, lazy or employee wants it for himself

How's Virginia Beach? Watch out for beach umbrellas!

Headline news:

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Police say a Virginia woman has died after being struck by a windblown beach umbrella in Virginia Beach.

Multiple news outlets report she died after being hit Wednesday evening.

Virginia Beach police spokesman Officer Patrick Kane says the umbrella was anchored in the sand when a strong gust of wind carried it, hitting the 56-year-old woman from Chester. Her identity has not been released.

Kane says emergency crews responded after receiving a 911 call about a woman in cardiac arrest.

When medics arrived, they found the woman with a life-threatening injury. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died.

The incident is under investigation. Kane says there's no evidence of foul play.

"Clearly we need to have stricter umbrella laws" - Senator Bloviate

I see a good bit of it in the Habitat for Humanity Restores.

I like when the stores say "they go back to the vendor for credit" when the product is a Husky, HDX or other home depot house brand item.

Yeah. Just heard about that last night. Talk about a freak accident.

It's nice down here. Been a long time since I've been here. Good to be back with some old friends.

The store on Tintern in Chesapeake has a Dewat nailer and compressor kit a few weeks ago.

HD could still be getting a vendor credit even though the item doesn't go back to the actual vendor. It would be related to an unsold item. Depends on how ordering works and contracts with their suppliers.

EDIT: I know nothing related to actual contracts that HD has...just an assumption.

Yeah... it's the same vendors as many other brands, just branded for HD.

This.

One store near me constantly keeps clearance items in overhead. Sr. Associate said store mngr would rather write off as full price donation.

I've scored a bunch at .x2/.x3 by walking around with my eyes to the sky.

Would not sell me penny item for last clearance due to that reasoning...

It was the S Chesapeake store. On a whim I checked the PCA in one of the other stores, and it said there were 2 at the SC store. Went there, and they had 3, just begging me to take them away. Already unloaded one, too.

Didn't do a very thorough search, but I believe inventory was at 0 for that one. I'll double check if I go back by there, though. Thanks.

Employees aren't allowed to purchase items at a penny... I'll wait till the cool MOD is in and have a talk with him to see what he wants for it

I've sold four of mine for between $175 and $200. Had them listed at $215 and just dropped the price to $200. Getting a lot of offers for $150, but don't see the need to go lower than $175.

Yeah...night job. It's already been taken off the floor and out the system. So it might be a no go

Damn, that would be nice to have. Is that the tool only?

Hmm I know where 2 are, but they are displays. They were $120, never hit .06/.03. I'll have to check again, but would be doubtful to get it now. I was waiting for them to start the real clearance markdown schedule

Tool only... It would be nice to have since I do a lot of tubing fabrication and the boss has a thing for his old chop saw and won't spring for a cordless unit

More lies on this thread
No lies, I can confirm the 380036 - Milwaukee 2429-20 hit $40.03 a while back and is probably a penny now but only in certain (probably smaller format) stores, the vast majority are still full price. Its worth a shot though if you dont see it on the shelf but in the overhead.

I picked up the Echo CS-590 for a penny in one of the stores. Sure enough, it was a return by someone who used it pretty heavily and then boxed it back up all nice. The store probably didn't carry it, so it went on the shelf at a penny.

It's a pretty dang good chainsaw. I got it for $270 about a year ago. If you clean it up, it's well worth having if you've got any land.

I have a 310 and a husky 572. While it doesn't have the same power the echo is a great little saw for trimming up trees. Runs hard as hell. I'd buy a bigger one based on my experience.

I can't remember what the PCA showed, but there was definitely one in the overhead. I can't remember what aisle though.
