The picture must be fouled up?

edit: well, my purchase caused it to go up to 59, so it must have been a good deal.

You're lucky to have gotten a set. I think they're great, but you'll need to decide for yourself and let us know! As I mentioned, my preference is for the SwissGrips, but I have a few hard handles of theirs (for other tools, not drivers) and I think you'll be happy with those for the drivers as well.

In for one. Thanks guys. I have no PB Swiss so this will be a first for me. Are they really that great?

For $18 you could just use them to roast marshmallows.

I'm not totally thrilled with the handles, but the blades seem excellent. Just view it as a bit of tool exotica. Next thing you know, you'll want a set of those Nepros wood handled ones.

I have been holding out for some PB Swiss with the SwissGrips. That said, Amazon do not ship PB Swiss to Australia. So everytime I see an Amazon link I hit "ignore".

PB Swiss blades have amazing looking steel, with what looks like laser cut part and serial numbers. OTOH the handles remind me of old style Craftsman, except for the SwissGrip, with are pretty nice, and so are the others, just not a modern style.

Congrats on your first, and helluva good deal for a first. You strike me as a discerning guy so I'm guessing yes, you'll like them a lot. Sort of "no frills top quality." The standard blades are parallel ground and chamfered so you don't scrape the countersink hole...now that's attention to detail.

Yes, they used the same photo for several different sets. Hopefully you read the titles and got the one you wanted. For me the standard/phillips is the most useful set.

I really like the slim red hard handles. Yeah, I like the swiss grip even better, but the translucent red handles are slimmer than most and therefore pack easily (mine are for a portable box), fit into cramped spaces well, and twist easily. Downside is you can't crank them as hard. Which is why you have a bit in a ratchet handy. Or a T-handled driver or a 5-position driver...IF YOU OWN ONE!! (cough, cough)

I took that one from you Blue Dog. :spit:

It was because of your insults. I don't know if I will be strong enough to turn those puny swiss grip handles.

My beagle dog is even a girl.:lol_hitti

You will like them, i all ready have a set, but for that price i was willing to get a new set and stick them in a pit box. , you just need thicker skin and to learn the difference between a insult and constructive criticism. Insults are not allowed here at the garagejornal, or you will end up in GJ jail, some scary characters in there, and all they talk about is harbor freight and Nancy Pelosi.
Enjoy your Pb swiss drivers, They are quality at a reasonable price.

I bought one of them last year at that price. My home depot stopped carrying them and clearanced them out. HD is funny like that, if something isn't selling good the decide not to carry them and offer them at a crazy price. I've seen the dewalt planer for 250. The milwaukee 12" sliding compound miter for 299 from over 600. I just missed that one but the tag was still on the shelf.

I like that ridgid jointer, nice tool to have.

I eye balled that same jointer in the store last year and regretted not buying it...I got me one this time....now only if I had a place to put it:lol_hitti

Ya I didn't really have room either but I made a pretty neat little wood cart for it that works really well for moving it around.

Just got back from HF and they have ALL of the chromoly Taiwan impact socket sets on clearance for approx. $20 (Pgh. Pro & Earthquake); picked up a metric hex socket set for $17 after coupon. Tags say, "Valid until 12/31" so it looks they're actually trying to get rid of them. In any case, that's a deal to me. This is in Pittsburgh, fyi.

Where the tall corn grows!
Mendards "Performax" tool storage - actually not bad units for the money - easily as good as any ball bearing Cman line at a much cheaper price, imo.

They(menards) also currently have their masterforce boxes on sale. I plan to pick up the 27" lower box before the weekend. I already have the 36" upper and lower boxes

Sears is doing a big clothing clearance, Craftsman work jackets were half price, $25 instead of $50, and on top of that there is a coupon for $10 off $20+. I didn't need a jacket but I found 5 shirts reg $30 to $40, each rang up for $4.99, $16 incl tax after coupon. Good til 10/23, not sure you need a coupon, they had the barcode taped to the register and just scanned that for me.

I was at Home Depot ealier and seen Husky bottom boxes for 299.00, they were the big 51 in box. The top box was 199.00. I looked at them and they wernt to bad. The papers inside said made by waterloo. I tried to look it up online and did not see anything on there about it.
