that list price is totally bogus, its no differant [aside from the finish] than the 6 in ones you can get at your local hardware store for $5 any day of the week.

lol at $10 shipping.

The list price was probably from a lot of 20 or something like that. But yea, Amazon list prices are almost always inflated.

Saw those nice DeWalt step drill bits as Christmas grifts at Lowes today. A set of 14 in a case for $14.95. They are on their own as you walk in...

Craftsman Professional 2 pc. Locking Plier Set includes 10 WR and 7R Pliers

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_...003h&srccode=cii_5784816&cpncode=00-2204725-2

If you can find some NOS USA made ones

Good luck, the ones all by me are now the ones made in China, I broke my own rule last weekend at Sears when I picked up the 3 piece set for ~$20. But I really needed new locking pliers and for ~$20 I wasn't going to complain.

They are running a bunch of other good deals this weekend...

3 piece prybar set $19.99 (50% off)
9 piece 12 point raised panel wrenches $14.99 (50% off)
9 piece 6 point raised panel wrenches $19.99 (34% off)

To name a few, or to name the ones I just bought. :)

Got an email from Sears today. Gearwrench full polish ratcheting wrenches 8-piece set are 50% off. Online only. The set is now 39.99 for either metric or SAE. What does everyone think of these wrenches? I'm thinking about picking up a set.

i really like the regular ratcheting box end combo wrenches, however i believe the version sears put on sale has a "cap stop" feature that essentially turns the wrench into a socket. You cannot simply flip the wrench over and use the other side [hence the necessity of the reversible feature]. They are 15* offset so you have to question how often you'd have an issue where clearance would be problematic [e.g. where you'd need the 15* offset facing TOWARD the fastener]. For most people, especially the weekend warrior, it really probably wouldnt matter to them. Some might even like it because the wrench only works one way. Its not for me though.

Picked up the set of vise grips today and they handed me a made in China set. Told them the ones I ordered say Craftsman Professional and have Made in USA on them. Went back to the shelf and they had about 10 pair of the new made in China ones and two made in USA at the back. The package I got says Made in U.S.A. with global components and doesn't say made in USA on the handle but US PAT ####. Seems like another Craftsman Professional tool that's being phased out for a cheaper Chinese product.

Craftman 42 pc. Ratchet [3/8] and Bit Set With Case $70.00 normally $100.00.

At its retail price it isnt much of a deal since the online exclusive 42 pc. bit set is always $80 [and inludes a couple more sizes in lieu of the ratchet, extension and adapter], but at $70 with a handy storage case its a nice little package for the weekend warrior.

No they arent snap-on torx or hex bits so they will bend and break with continuous automotive use [i find they survive quite well for small equipment/hobby stuff though] but keep in mind the entire craftsman set of everything also costs about 1/3 the price of a set of snap-on hex or torx.

Say what you will about Amazon's crazy, %$#%-up pricing. We're still able to get some decent scores. You can't win 'em all, but we can go bankrupt trying!
