I guess the part that surprises me about any of this is that it can legally be done to ONE particular company (Amazon). How is that legal? Wouldn't it have to be all online companies?

It's not like this Amazon site thing crept up on states. They are only doing this because they are still so desperate for money. That doesn't mean it isn't right/fair to do it etc, it's just a turn off knowing that the only reason they are pursuing this is because they need cash. And of course even when things return to normal, the toll booth stays in place and they will look for additional areas to collect tax. The toll booths never come out.

They will start collecting sales tax in 2013 from us Tennesseans, that is because they have built some distribution warehouses here locally. It kind of stinks and I see myself not buying as much from Amazon because of it but the impact they have had around here in Chattanooga, TN has been tremendous and I am very grateful for that. Besides they are not charging the sales tax, just collecting it, they are owed to the state whether they collect it or not.

I'm having some limited use issues on my Internet connection at the moment, otherwise I would read the linked article.

But I have been aware of MANY states that have implemented a "use tax" which is the same as a sales tax but is based upon any internet purchase by USERS. In other words, if you purchase something from Sears Online and they don't charge a sales tax, then you technically still owe the sales tax to the state where you live.

This goes against the original sales tax moratorium created back in the 1990s that exempted all online sales. Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just saying. :)

Same here. I think the first state to start this (with Amazon) was NY. Last I heard there was an injunction as Amazon takes them to court over it, so NY still isnt collecting the tax.

My state (CT) just tried to pull this starting last year. Amazon doesnt have any warehouses here, but CTs stance was that some small online shops sell thru Amazon.

Amazons solution? Drop all the CT based small online shops that sell thru them. Result? Even more small businesses in CT going under. On top of that, our fearless leader (Gov Malloy) estimated a whopping 7 million in tax income by doing this (they were going to directly tax other places like Overstock [who uses them anymore, btw?]). So they "gained" 7 million, and in the end really didnt, by alienating a whole bunch of small businesses. (BTW, Malloys slogan for the state is "CT is open for business"......)

As far as "use tax", yes, we are supposed to report things we buy that arent charged sales tax. Im not sure its a per-state thing or if every state has the law, but I know CT does.

The "use tax" is just a way of getting around the sales tax moratorium by calling it a "use tax." Not all states have it . . . yet.

My amazon (prime free shipping, anyways)shipments usually are delivered by some sketchy looking guy in a van that I wouldnt trust to make my burgers.
Isn't that the truth, no markings on the vehicles, no uniform, nothing. An interesting variety of vehicles are used.

My understanding is they act as their own contractor and are responsible for all operation costs, then they get paid a small pittance per package delivered. I'd like to see the numbers for that business model given $4 per gallon fuel. Wonder how much is left by the time the individual driver gets their cut. I wonder what kind of background check are done on these folks.

This may end up backfiring on Amazon as they rely heavily on their reputation.

Oh boy this is terrible. I have managed to put together a $156 order at Cripes in JUST Gearwrench things.

I need more screwdrivers like i need another hole in my head, but are these worth buying? http://cripedistributingstore.com/gearwrench-19-pc-comb-solid-handle-screwdriver-set-82730.html

I'm a sucker for clear handles.

Or would it be dumb to not buy their cushion grip handles instead?

Those screw drivers, are they of good quality ...are they worth it?

Don't know but they're cheaper at Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004KNI82U/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Hurry, only 1 set left at $23 but another seller has them for $19.

Probably ends up being about the same price considering combined shipping at Cripe maybe? I'm still waffling, but i removed the 3/8" metric drive set since i can't have the matching 1/4" right now. Cheapest i've found the 1/4 elsewhere is $35. :(

Grrrrrr. I miss 1 week of this thread and a dozen things I'm in the market for come and go. How come when I check this thread 4 times a day it seems like nothing I want comes up, lol. Really wish I had caught the roughing endmills and soft grip gear wrench ratchets. I gotta find some software to monitor this thread and email me on certain keywords.

I have that set of clear handles. They are a trilobed design and are just okay. They don't seem to fit my hands well. Each turn of the fastener seem to have the grip out of position. A friend of mine has the dual texture ones and they feel fine to my hands, It might be the deeper dishing between each lobe on these hard handles. Also, a couple of mine are getting some surface rust on the shank, which is not happening on any of my other screwdrivers in the same drawer. For a big set the $30 is about right...not a deal. I love my other gearwrench tools, these are the worst items I have from them.

Ah ok... they looked like they were round rather than tri-lobe. Well i guess that saves me some money at least! :) Thanks for the input!

Do you have the 80326 1/4" set? Is it worth paying the $35 i can find it for or was it really something that was just awesome for $12 and "meh" for $35?

I'm liking the idea of having the blown plastic sets in my toolbox with the tops off to keep it organized, but i'm also pretty sure i might have a hard time finding space for that stuff.

$140.72 (list $762.00)

i'm not a craftsman guy, so i have no idea of if this is a good deal or not... however at first glance it appears to be if their list pricing and sale pricing has any semblance of reality.....

posting the link and pic and let the craftsman guys weigh in on this if it's a hot deal or not...

Just ordered one for the heck of it. They don't charge until it ships and you can do will call (store pickup) so there is no shipping charge.

If I get it, great and if not then no loss.

Drawer Dimensions:

3 Drawers - 14 5/8 D x 36 3/4 W x 3 1/8 H in.

1 Drawers - 14 5/8 D x 36 3/4 W x 4 1/8 H in.

Not sure if this is a good enough deal to post here, so forgive me if its not but I saw this today.

At my local home depot, they had a compressor I have never seen before. It had signs on it that said special purchase, and it looked a lot like this compressor, but branded as a Husky.
The only difference I could see from this and what I can remember off of the top of my head was the Husky branded one said 4.0SCFM @ 90PSI, 6SCFM@ 40psi, 115psi max. It too was an 8 gallon tank, with an Aluminum oil lubricated compressor. The price was $99.00. I might have to pick one up for that price, not really sure.
