I received the 1/2" drive gearwrench ratchet yesterday and it is defective straight out of the box. It binds up in one spot and is way too tight and clunky. I was just looking for some cheap **** to abuse if necessary and this won't even do for that. I just don't get the raving for Gearwrench on here. I have never had anything to be proud of from them.

No more are available for replacement and all that can be done according to Sears is return for refund, which is what I will have to do.

I did call Apex directly and they said only Sears could handle it! I don't think we have Advance Auto around here. Not sure who else carries Gearwrench other than Sears and they are fresh out.

Might be regional, but the Lowes around me are clearancing the Gladiator 72"H x 36"W x 18"D Metal Garage Cabinets for $164. These are the ready to assemble models, not welded. But still a hell of a deal!

I walked in to purchase the wall unit Friday night and found it $40 off - and Lowes proceeded to refund me $50 for the 48" wide unit listed above as I bought it four weeks earlier.

Two thumbs up for Lowes and the cabinets are first rate.

Doesn't show them on sale online maybe it is just an instore thing? They closed all the lowes stores around my house unfortunately

Might just be in-store, as I only saw it once I walked in... and they were listed as closeouts.

I received my 1/2" ratchet today, it works fine but the chrome is chipped in one spot. When I called the Sears rep said to exchange it at any store. fortunately, I have two large Sears stores near me.

I'm not wild at how they probably had these things stored... i have a couple nicks and scratches on all of mine, none of the chrome is missing though. I'm pretty sure they just had these piled in boxes. Mine weren't separated during shipping either and i'm guessing they smacked and scratched each other on the ride.

My 1/2" was binding too... then I used it a few more times and it seems to have freed right up?

I hope this it's ok to promote a deal that I'm a part of...

Diamond Innovative Garage cabinets
6' kit for $650... $1200 for 12ft (6ft kit x 2)

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=149214

i actually quite like those cabinets and looked at them a while ago. but the company told me they sold exclusively through costco and that i could only order what costco was willing to sell me, which was a very limited configuration combo. i passed because of that...

i think that's bull ****. i've had Apex/Danaher replace all of my gearwrench hand tools in the past, regardless if I bought it at Sears or Amazon or where ever. the person you spoke to just wasn't feeling like doing his/her job that day. i would try again until you get someone helpful. Or, just tell them you don't have a sears near you nor any other store that sells Gearwrench and that they need to honor their lifetime warranty.

Yeah, from what I understand Costco doesn't carry these anymore and Sears and K-mart are out of stock (according to thier websites). DIG has an Amazon store but it looks like they haven't sold any from there.

And we are able give discounts! :)

They aways do honor the price you brought it at even if the price goes up. I got a set of wera hex plus stainless steel hex keys for 12 dollars, it was out of stock. But when they shipped they honored the sale price.

Thats not 100% true, especially since those were not sold by Amazon. Most of the time, private sellers will not honor price mistakes, but since it was sold by Knipex I have a feeling it was not a price mistake, but just a ploy to draw some interest or move some stock.

Other than that, it does hold true about 98% of the time. I got burned on some metal shears that were sold by Amazon. I wouldnt have been so peeved about it, but they sent me an email stating it was an error but they would honor the price regardless. Which seems to be Amazon's policy most of the time. I waited a couple of weeks and received another email saying it would be on the way shortly, then after about 1-2 months of waiting for it, they decided to send me another email stating that I wasnt getting my item, but I was free to purchase the item at the then current much higher price.

They are sold through amazon. It qualified for their amazon free shipping. Amazon does honor it. The wera hex plus I brought were the same as the knipex? Not a market place seller. That is the only time I have seen them not honor a price.

Im telling you they dont *ALWAYS* honor that price (even if it is sold by Amazon), but they do 99% of the time. I dont believe he has anything to worry about though, this doesnt seem like one of those crazy deals where they wouldnt honor it.

read the reviews here, apparently i wasn't the only one they did it to, and now its listed as out of stock

And to keep the deals coming,
Heres a 1.5" 21oz WIHA dead blow for $21.50

made in usa?

I'm not really sure; that's not something i pay that much attention to anymore. But all the reviews I've found have been positive. Some of the reviews on Amazon claim made in USA, but it appears only the taps and dies are made in USA, while the plastic cases and die/tap drive tools are made in China... but that's just someone on the internet writing **** on the internet. You could call Irwin and ask about it...

Lowes and HF coupons...

I know there are mixed results with this, but I needed a relatively inexpensive job site table saw today. Went to the contractor service desk at Lowes, asked them if they still matched coupons. No drama, no scamming, just asked them if they would take the coupon and they said sure.

I put the $299 Porter Cable portable table saw on a flat, gave them the coupon, they rang it through at 20% off, $240. Nice!

Not as nice of a job saw as a $700 Dewalt or Bosch job saw, but I think worth every penny of $240, and that's with the wheelset! Got pretty good reviews in a Pop. Mechanics portable table saw comparison...

So Lowe's really does take the HF 20% off coupon even for an item that HF doesnt sell? I'd heard this before but would like 100% confirmation from people who've done it.
