I'm getting tired of the massive pile of extensions in the back of my drawer, and I'm looking for a more organized solution... Anyone have any examples?

I link mine together to keep the smaller ones from rolling around and getting lost and make the links as deep as the drawer can accommodate. Then I just pile them up to the far side of my sockets out of the way. The sockets keep them from spreading. Linking them together keeps drive sizes fairly well sorted and easy to ID. I just pull the size I need and pile the leftovers on the box top till I start to clean up again.

Before doing this I used a silverware tray but it wouldn't hold the long ones and it took up more space than they do linked together and piled up on top of each other.

You might not use Craftsman tools but I purchased some socket sets with plastic cases that fit in my tool chest. The cases help to keep track of all the pieces. These sets have full sets of sockets with extensions. Not all extensions are included but they usually do what I need them to do.

Same here.

Same thing with universal (swivel) joints and adapter/reducers.

It's not my permanent solution, but I store a lot of my smaller (<9") extensions in between the rows of sockets in my Hansen trays. Anything longer is shoved in front of all my trays.

I ultimately want to make a extension holder for the side of my box, similar to a pry bar holder. I have a fair few long extensions, and they do waste a lot of space just sitting in my socket drawer.

I don't have as many extensions as some. I have each length i need in regular and wobble and have very few duplicates.

Not much to them really. I have 2-4-6-8-12 knurled locking in the three sizes and a 2" SK wobble in each size. They sit in the drawers. One ratchet drawer for each drive size.I have too many ratts.
The impact drawer has a 2 and 4" ext in each size with universals and cases with the short and deep sockets for each size.3 impact swivels.1/2 air impact, 1/2 air drill and 3/8 air ratchet. That's all I need around here.I hardly use any of it other than the die grinders and nibbler.
My DeWalt 20v hex driver does 90 percent of the work around here be it drilling "ratcheting" driving screws etc.I've even been using the impact drills and impact step drills for everything that wont get in the drill presses

I store mine between the socket rails. I don't have many (48585, how do you ever decide which ratchet/extension to use?!), but it's always been enough to get by:

Gettyup. I'd be proud to work out of that box.Clean and straight to the point !
It reminds me of a buddys shop at a prawn farm that is for about 5-6 guys to share.A quick glance shows"inventory" and ALL of the basics are covered. Anything else, off the wall, and you ask the boss to get it from hi$ $nap-On rig.

I've posted this a few times, but since you asked, here is the solution I had. They drove me nuts rolling around every time I opened my drawer.

Simple, and can be made from just about any material.

I keep my most commonly used ones in the screwdriver holes in the side of my hf 5 drawer cart. Extras & specialty like locking are in my socket drawer which is only opened a couple times a week so they don't roll around much

I like the Lexan block hanger idea. currently mine live in a drawer with ratchets, breakers, universals, and speeders.
I am in awe of the "Dear Lord" accumulation and plan to save that picture for when my wife says I have too many... in comparison, I'm in tool poverty.

Very nice, what did you make it from? What happens when you buy new tools?

I had them laser cut but a company called toolbed.com. They have a huge database of tool shadows - you just punch in the make/part number and it allows you to design your own layout. They come delivered laser cut to perfection.

In terms of adding new tools, I spent some time figuring out what I need and then forecast the stuff I think I will need in future and then bought it all in one hit. Like many people on this forum I have a tool problem, so now I have a natural disincentive to not buy stuff.
