How do you store your grease guns?

I'm gonna keep an eye on this thread, I'm sick of mine leaking oil all over. I use the Lucas red and tacky and it drips red oil all over.

I hang mine on a nail on the wall. Under it is a small pail for drippings.

My pneumatic lays sideways in the top tray of my box and both the hand pumps lay sideways in the open bottom section of another box. If you release the pressure and wipe the tip it shouldn't leak or make a mess. Much like a caulk gun. I also keep the plastic cap on them to keep debris from sticking to the tips.

I lay mine on its side on the oil drain pan. Does not leak when laid down.

I always wear rubber gloves when I use mine. When I am done and take the gloves off i make sure one of them gets flipped inside out if you will so the clean side is out. I put the rubber glove over the bottom of the grease gun and tuck the hose into it and then hang it on the shelf. Anything that leaks out of it while its sitting idle is caught in the glove and when i go to use it next i just toss the glove. When I am done i put the glove i was wearing while greasing back onto the grease gun.

Most new are sealed for "life". However, the better replacement parts are always greaseable. Moog problem solver for example.

Right now, based on a suggestion from here, I store my grease gun, and an upside down tree of funnels, in a cut open laundry detergent container screwed to the wall.
But that Summet product got me thinking... I should add a zerk fitting somewhere in this container to keep my hose from escaping.

Mine all have hoses that like to flop around; so they are stored with related lube equipment in a large file cabinet drawer.

I usually will try and do my replacements as OEM or equivalent though. If I do run into a situation where I need a grease gun, I'll get one then... I just haven't yet.

Grease guns are required for maintenance on better quality lawn tractors, snow blowers, and other equipment as well. Even for a homeowner, a grease gun can be a needed item.
But it is so true that many newer cars lack any need for a grease gun.
I really don't mind using a grease gun, except on damaged or rusty fittings that need replacements to do their intended job. That is when I like the grease-less joints even more.
