I needed to pull this bearing off a motor shaft, but the bearing was so close to the fan that I could not get any puller I had to get underneath the bearing. The only puller I had out of several that had thin pull hooks would not assemble without leaning outward too much to get underneath the bearing. After studying this quandry a bit, I came up with this solution. I used the pull hooks and side links off one puller, and pulled that one with another one. I left the side plates slack so that they would be able to surround the shaft. With this rig, I was able to pull the bearing up enough to switch to the standard puller to finish the job. Sometimes you gotta get creative!
