I completely understand banning the HF tools vs. Snap On threads....those were usually stinkbait that were thrown out there to get people going....and usually turned into flamefests sooner or later.

Also noticed it was usually newbies that started these, so mods you may want to take that into account when another one is posted.

Tool played at the nightclub I used to manage. They were so new on the scene there might have been 30 people total that saw them.

Ryan , THANK YOU for these forums. The work you do on here is amazing and every time I'm on one of the Journals I'm entertained or learn something new

I knew Mickey would get kicked out at some point. Kinda disappointing though. He was quite entertaining if you knew how to take him. Everybody knew what he had to say and that he was going to say it. Not so sure why everyone got so pissed off about it. Everyone needs to be a little less sensitive. He is an excellent resource and embraces an ideal that would eliminate outsourcing if we all shared it. Yes he is rude, but that is what makes him who he is.

I'll miss ya Mickey.

Unless I am mistaken, Mickey's ban is temporary, for two weeks.

I have not checked on Tony as I did not know he had been reprimanded.

One of the reasons I love this site is that guys can pretty much be guys without getting sand in their vaginas over little stuff. Some sites I go to have a billion rules, you can only talk about 1 or 2 topics safely and the members are all touchier than a Vatican summer camp.

I hope this place stays cool. I don't have a problem disallowing the Harbor Freight comparisons. Matter of fact, I don't mind if you ban any mention of Harbor Freight whatsoever. (j/k). :) I just hope it can all stay cool, like real men at a real garage-go outside and knock the snot out of each other every once in a while and then come back in and all be good again.

I'm telling you not to argue. It's as simple as that.

Yes, sir, you're the boss.

There's a fine line between discussing and arguing, which is why at some point I stopped viewing HF debate threads entirely.

Still, those that like to argue will probably just find something else to argue about. Hopefully it's elsewhere.

Maybe he will take the hint and stay gone on his own accord.

Thank you Ryan and thank you Moderators for making this place possible.
I used to moderate a state wide M/C forum where we mostly knew each other face to face and it was so much work that I stepped down after a year or so.

I'll say it again...
:bowdown:THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS PLACE POSSIBLE!!!

Now can we all get along and talk about tools and garages?!?!?!? I just got enough toolboxes to make an entire wall of my garage a toolbox under bench deal!!!!

Sorry Bull I made a mistake with Tonydanzah being banned.Apparently there are two tonydanzahs. One uses a capital at the beginning(banned) and one uses lower case letters(not banned). One is banned and the other isn't.My apologies for the misinformation.

Yeah, Mickey was quick witted and often pretty damn funny but his made in U.S.A. tool drama was downright boring.

To be fair, Mickey has a gigantic vintage tool collection and does contribute knowledge to the board. I am not saying that to cover his negative behaviors, merely to balance them.

Also, where is the thread for this toolbox haul of yours?! :bounce:

That's weird. Who knew there were that many Who's The Boss fans? Or perhaps it is the "other" type of "Tony Danzah" that they are referring to.:shocking:

Like it or not he had his place here. He was a big part of this community, just as much or more than the whiners who complain about his demeanor all the time.

There will always be people who strike us the wrong way, it is ultimately a personal decision whether or not to let those people offend us. You can't just ban people in the real world. You would either learn to deal with it or be pissed off all the time. Either way its up to that person.

Can we censor our Harbor Freight or HF entirely?

Seeing "Harbor Freight" as "Horror Fail" or something equally cheesey would be quite amusing. But would probably create even more drama.

I very much understand the dynamics of a place like this. Every forum has a character like him. vBulletin has this great feature called ignore and I find it a great tool so that I can read a post without having to read through the liter.

"Out of sight, out of mind. If I can't see it, I don't mind it."

I can't "ban" someone in real life but I can ignore them. I have a handful of real friends in this world and I also have a handful of people I've figuratively buried.

I also agree he has a lot to offer I just wonder at what point does it become like a bad relationship where the bad outweighs the good?

The thread is coming. I have a bum shoulder and have not been able to arrange it in the garage. Stay tuned...

I don't see Harbor Freight as the culprit here. It's those that start threads attempting to compare Harbor Freight to Snap On and posit that HF is just as good. That sets off a chain reaction that usually ends up in the thread being closed. Then someone grouses about it in another thread and it starts back up again. :shocking:

I may be wrong but it seemed like recently there was a lot of threads started where the person was raving about some Harbor Freight tool and they had a very low post count. Almost like there was a organized effort by HF promote their products.

Edit. yes I know I should talk with only 15 posts. I lurk a lot.

I think it's just that we had a member get people psyched about HF because of his gigantic, shiny HF tool collection. That's all.

I know, but it would still be slightly amusing at first. Maybe it'll be a decent April Fools idea.

imho, trolls will find other ways to infuriate the community and start other random arguments. Or not, trolls generally tend to be uncreative. Except for that Robert nurse race car fellow.

It's possible, but with how huge it is, HF doesn't really need any shills.

I assume you're referring to me?

Yessir, I am :)

I think you just got people stoked about HF and brought a sense of legitimacy to the brand, which had up to the point of your post been almost universally scoffed at here, except for Bolster's Pass/Fail thread.

As to Ryan's point, I think that all of us can embrace the sentiment. We want a friendly, helpful site here. Disagreements and debates are fine, but insults, and derogation are not.

It's like what I tell my students on the first day of school each year: I promise that I will respect them, and if they do the same for me, then we will never have a real problem, since all good things come from the presence of respect and all bad things come from its absence.

I agree, before I never thought of buying a tool box from HF. All the ones I saw at the local store looked to be put together by drunk monkeys. Seeing the threads showing them makes me think the HF cart would be a good investment.

Sorry man, wasn't trying to start a war. The original intent was basically; look how much I got for so little. And, it works, not total ****. That's all.

This issue actually came up long before you arrived and made that post. Ryan had warned people about it, too. So, you didn't start anything; you're fine!

I've noticed that since you made your post, it seems that more folks have owned up to owning HF or other import tools. Your posts were what seemed to pushed the most rabid "buy USA or your a douchebag" nut jobs over the edge. Before they were just barely tolerable, but lately it has killed the mood around here. Maybe with Mickey D gone for a few days the mood will kick back up a bit. Oh, and I still like your HF boxes...
