Well done. Roto heads are very useful, can be turned into a nut driver. Put it to use and you’ll see for yourself.

It's hard to give a date range without a picture of the markings on the shaft. The the black anvil and selector switch are newer vintage, but that could be a rebuild kit.

How's it work? Is it SK or SK Wayne? squirt a couple drops of oil in it, and it will last another 40 years or so.

It's a mystery as to why SK doesn't bring that ratchet back. :dunno:

You probably over paid for the Sears wrench but, that's ok since you did well on the ratchet. A long, long time ago, like 40-45 years, before Sears sold companion and evolve, their budget line below Craftsman was simply branded SEARS. Nothing fancy, mostly imported but, not that bad, no frills, get stuff done around the house type tools. The wrench actually looks pretty good for its age. You must have a lot better swap meets in your area than I do.

Well... you never know about some people around here....

Last spring a guy here scored a complete vintage Craftsman 3/4" drive set from an old couple over in Fircrest who were cleaning out their garage.... ten bucks... in the original box with the leather handle.

I paid a pawn shop $25 bucks for a complete set of (mixed G and V) 1/2" drive 12-point SAE deep-wells a couple years ago, because I also took the VA ratchet for $10 bucks.

Then there was the guy on CL who needed money for cigarettes, so I drove out to Edgewood at about 11 pm on a Saturday night and gave him $18 for a complete set of Craftsman VV metric combos and some other oddball Craftsman pieces.

My favorite one, though, was the lady out in Spanaway who got good and liquored up one Saturday night, and started posting all of her estranged husband's power tools on CL for $50 bucks a pop. Table saw: $50 bucks. Drill press: $50 bucks. Stihl chain saw: $50 bucks. Snap-on socket set: $50 bucks. On and on and on. By 4:00 am it was all gone.

I would suggest you take a look here as well:

Not Craftsman, so no warranty, but I would buy it for 25 cents as well. When I get a bunch of cheapies together like that, I put them in a tool box (usually no more than $2) and gift it to friends or neighbors that have nothing.

I agree it's a later production run. The later ones were a little thinner and knurling not as aggressive. Also, the selector switch is a newer design. I have one similar but doesn't say anything around the anvil. I paid I think $35 on Ebay and yours looks brand new.

I put a DT80 mechanism in mine and it's one of my favorite ratchets to use. I have an older SK Wayne but I have retired it and added it to my collection.

This is just a guess but I'm thinking 2000-2010. Ideal brought SK in 2010 after SK declared bankruptcy. After Ideal acquired SK, the 3870 was discontinued but I don't know the exact year it was discontinued.

Here's a picture to show an older model against a newer one (with a DT80 mechanism).

Is the knurling aggressive or kinda smooth? The screw in the head, is it a allen screw or a flat head screw?

Post dresser era so no earlier than 1980s. The S-K has a dash not a dot and doesn't have <SK> nor a bold lettering. I would put it early 90s.

Looking for the following Plomb Pebbles Wrench 3061

That was my first socket set. I think it was about $100 on sale. The only big deficiency was the lack of 12 and 14mm 3/8 deep sockets.

If the 3870, has aggressive knurling, it would be older than my original guess.

What's the codes stamped on the Craftsman sockets?

I thought the dash was first and then they went to the broken triangle in the 80's then the last version was the dot. ?

Awesome, looks like early 2000s
What got my curiosity is that ratchet, I know it’s a V series but I can’t seem to find one with a switch like that, almost looks like it has been replaced at one point .

That isn't a factory switch. Someone put that switch in from either a flex head or torque wrench.
