Good luck with your inspection, Then the fun starts.

Seeing you digging the trench for electrical brought back the nightmare of putting in mine to the big building (over 750') my power starts at the front side of my house, across the front of the house, under the driveway and out to the big party garage then repoured the apron of the driveway. Just me and my cusin.

Thank you BTW I love your party garage  and the fact that you are commenting on my build thread is an honor . My bil said (after we were done) that one of his customers offered him use of a wire pulling machine :shocking:

I called this inspection in on Wednesday and ask for a Friday date No problem they said. So after waiting around today I call around 2 pm and ask if I'm still on for today. Well guess what the inspector's had a area wide meeting so he rescheduled me till Monday   Needless to say I ain't happy  but I must maintain myself as I at his mercy :lol_hitti

I had a very similar experience with a gas inspection in a small town in Oregon... Good to see you're not delayed by their meeting.

Sometimes miracles happen. Good for you.

I used aluminum fascia and vinyl soffit on the garage I built. Easy to install, looked good, easy to maintain.

the only thing the inspector didn't like was the single center screw holding the receptacle to face plate so today I fixed that as I promised I would :D had to put nuts on the back side but now I need to change the middle screw so they are all the same :wtf: or am I being ****

Damn that's picky since it's in metal conduit.

Here is a picture of the fascia and soffit. The fascia is tall enough to be the channel that holds the vinyl. Nail some J channel to joists at the wall and insert the vinyl soffit. Quick and easy. Check with a company that does aluminum screen patios or vinyl siding, they probably have the material and a brake.

Me or the inspector shorty? My bil that is supplying everything started it :lol_hitti

As far as the soffit & fascia, I'm working hard to find it in black if not I may have to change to another color :shocking: but as I have said its been a build as you go so why stop now :beer:
I only have 1 thing left to do to get the final and CO and that's get my hardie board up on the gable ends and soffit/fascia both of which will require scaffolding. After the county is gone up next some more concrete and my floor coated (still undecided on with what) :shocking:

Too cool that you came up on the brick structure. Nothing wrong with a steel builiding, but something awesome about the masonry buildings.

Now that I can see a light at the end of the tunnel :rocker: my truck needed an oil change and I demand that any oil changes done are in the attached garage as I don't like oil stains on the concrete :willy_nil
So my race car had to move and since it was pointed towards the shop I figured why not let it spend a few weeks getting use to its new home and give us room in the attached garage to get some movement on projects
Not to mention motivation :D

after we towed the car back there we needed the jack and jack stands so my grand daughter that helped tow the car also handled that under supervision of her dad

We also used her to move some form boards around

looks great JC.
I had to laugh at the foam in the door jam... I did the same thing on my 5th wheel trailer when I was fixing a water leak a few years ago...
Hows the size work for you??? I'm hoping to do that same size this spring if the city approves my variance application...
What all have you done to the race bug??? What sort of times are you pulling??? I started out my mechanical apprenticeship at a bug shop many years ago... crazy what they will do for relatively cheep $$$

Keep the pictures coming and merry Christmas to you and yours...
Cheers...

Thank you yes I am reminded of the spray foam every time I look at that door my son is going to bring home some paint and touch it up with a jamb gun.
As for the bug I have owned the car for 40 years and I refuse to cut it up like many drag bugs get. Car has run a best 1/4 mile et of 11.82 @115mph and 7.41@92 in the 1/8th with the old motor 78x92 Yes parts for these are cheaper these days but not nearly the quality of what they use to be.

The inspector. At least he let you do the fix post-approval.

Yes what engine is in the race Bug and where is the exhaust?

Yes shorty the inspector was kind cause he did say that he shouldn't till that is fixed.

There is no engine in the car right now if there was it would not be allowed in there yet as I need to coat the floor

I'm sorry for no updates in a while but truth is not much was happening  But it has had a big surge forward

while no work was happening I spent a lot of time trying to decide on floor coating and color and other undecided details ( more like ok I can do this to fix that) I also worked on getting my soffit and fascia and there is a story in that itself.

So I'll start with painting the inside I could use some help on how to stop paint bleed on concrete block I can use some help there :dunno:

I first painted the top 2/3rds of the walls gloss white then a gray bottom and my plan is a 1" black and 3" blue stripe

Next up was getting a straight line for the stripes. The tool guy in me told me to go buy a $30 laser level but of course after arriving at the home depot we decided on an $89 bosch unit. Let the learning begin. I have started with the 3" blue stripe so I was only concerned with the top of it as the black will break the gray white and blue. this is when I knew I had a bleed thru problem that needs to be solved before I finish this

One of the problems I was having was getting someone to install the hardie board on the gable ends. One of my friends that has done some work for me already needs some more parts for an engine I'm building for him in exchange for his labor. He can't afford to buy the parts and I refuse to use what he has so a deal was made and he came over and knocked it out for me. My son and I helped as 1 person was not enough

Now the story of getting my soffit . the place I found was about 20 miles from me except its down near a lot of tourist and a part of town that has exploded in growth. I've had a few stupid people that don't seem to see my trailer (when empty) behind my truck so I'm extra cautious when towing it empty and here I had to drag it to traffic is a nut house. I made and picked up my materials soffit,J channel and facsia . I get clear of tourist area and while waiting in line for a traffic light I feel this hiccup in my truck like the trans or torque converter. So I just ease off the brakes and let the truck move forward about 3 ft if that. Right after that I feel it again this time harder. I relize now that the idiot behind me in a titan pickup has hit my trailer twice :eyecrazy:
So I get out and he's getting out saying "so sorry poppi trailer to long" I told him its legal got back in and continued on home

Hers a pic from my phone of the truck trailer and materials

when no work was going on I was all about deciding on floor coating and that was not easy for me But I did it and we will see how it turns out. Well I think I may have drove scotty at legacy nuts. I pulled the trigger and ordered my floor with a custom mix of flake, I just hope I did the right thing :headscrat

First box to arrive was my flakes

and a few days later

I got to redo my epoxy floor. It's held up good but has become dull and scrapped up. I wish I put more flake down. Is that a water based or solvent based epoxy?

taumac it is 100% solids. I'm pretty sure it is solvent based :dunno: I picked legacy due to the fact that scotty is in winter garden and that's only a few miles from me so I feel like I'm supporting a local business.

As I said I have been spending time buying materials so I bought my paint for the outside and quickly got the hardie board painted

He made a jig to cut the soffit

I had 2 things to do today :shocking: Paint the block and get some form boards roughed in so we can get some more concrete next weekend. And when I say roughed in well I have no clue what I'm doing :shocking:

So I started on the low side (west) and ran a string line across to the high side (east) and then leveled that just a touch below the slab at the door openings

The next issue is my house sort of sits on a hill. the water run off flows south west so I want the end of the pad to slope north which is kind of up hill :lol_hitti

I would do a 45 degree, it looks nicer to me, will save the wear on whatever fill goes there.

I would try as best as you can to get organic material out from under your pour.

In my opinion the formwork as-is looks a little lightweight. I would want to use 2x material and support about every 2-3 feet (can use rebar pieces). The work of placing and screeding can get a little rough on the forms at times and you don't want a fail and don't want wowed edges between the stakes.

Your stormwater management is extremely important, must figure out a plan for where all of the water is going, and slope the slab to gravity always helps ;) Your choice is going to be "set in stone" soon...so that's why I say think thru the plan now while its just wood and stakes, easily changed.

Yeah I'm staying with the 45* for every reason shorty said. As far as drainage I'm 95% sure I have it right. If I don't I can only blame myself  The concrete guy is comming by tonight or tomorrow and he will guide me. I know I have to many more stakes and reinforcement on those form boards. Concrete will be there 7am Saturday

Nice weather to coat a floor.

yep and with any luck the last weekend of this month that will happen

Today I had 7 yards of 3k with fiber mesh concrete delivered. The truck arrived at 6:45am :lol_hitti and I had some strange help show up that I have never seen here :dunno:

Good thing my dog decided to stay in bed this morning These things can be mean and nasty

When the slab was poured we couldn't get a front load truck this time we did and it made it much better for my concrete guy

It amaze's me that these trucks can get back there without getting stuck
