I went with the 45* on the side walk and just guessed where I placed it. I was concerned as I didn't think 7 yards would be enough.

And being the good neighbor that I try to be all these heavy trucks coming in from the empty lot next door the side walk paid the price so while the concrete man was busy my 2 son's and I had the task of busting up all that was broken. Its a side walk all cracked and broken from trucks running over it how hard can that be :lol_hitti Needless to say we were shocked at the thickness
Oh and swinging a sledge hammer before 8am is not a good way to wake up

and as we were doing this we ran out of concrete even the driver shook his head in amazement that we had enough

Nothing better than the cry of a peacock.

You got to be a happy camper. Looks like move date is early April. Huge props for fixing the sidewalk. Most wouldn't had done that.

Shorty I've never seen those dam birds here in the 10 years we have been here. I know where they came from which is about 1 mile away.

As for the side walk I feel good that I fixed it even my concrete guy was telling me to call it in as a trip hazard and let the county fix it  I just couldn't do that

Today I had planned to paint the out side but the weather forecast was 70% rain and when I woke up this morning I felt like I had been hit by a concrete truck. :shocking: + 1 hour lost to the time change

So I decided to clean up some the place was full of that sand from out side and was driving me nuts :shocking:

A view after I cleaned up looking out

\

during my cleaning I arranged all the electrical in one spot and the paint and soffit in another call me nuts but that's just what I do :lol_hitti

I was real disappointed that I didn't get any rain  as I wanted to see how the slab handled it but no such luck.. A few weeks ago the wife made her shopping trip to Costco I told her if she saw the 4ft LED shop lights to buy a pair they were 2for 49.98. Well after cleaning and being disappointed by mother nature we did a little temp rigging to see how these would work.

This is a test nothing more

same pic lights on

Here's my next problem . I need to get my box's in for my flood lights. I have no clue how to do this :shocking: this is a temp set up.
want to put them ion 3 corners of the building. All twin LED's 2 on the front and 1 on the rear. So I need to mount these flush with the soffi where the gable end meets the sides. Should I put a 2x4 in there or what the best way to support this?

Ok I think I see the issue. On my house and maybe yours too there's soffit material to help roof breathe. On my house it runs from wall to overhang of roof level to the ground.

Depending on how your gonna trim out your soffits is gonna determine how your hang your lights.

First off you need to get rid of the square junction box and get a light figure box. Installing the floods will be a lot easier. As Gerard said, depends on your soffit. Is soffit going to be flush with truss or horizontal to ground?

Since your fascia is plumb, normally soffits will be like picture Gerard included above. A furring strip to attach J-channel will be needed or you could use F-channel screwed directly to wall. Put blocking between truss tails high enough to where light box will sit flush with soffit.

Lookin' good JC! It's always great getting that final inspection.

The concrete turned out great. I would wish some rain on you to test out the slope, but I've been riding the cycle a lot lately so I'm enjoying this sunshine! Would an isolated shower work for ya? :)

Is this the type of mounting box I need I happen to have 2 in this pile :D

Yes the soffit will run horizontal to the ground and yes my soffit installer says he wants to put 2x2 PT on the walls to mount the J-channel too

Yes that's one type and it is easily mounted to the blocking plus you have it. What a deal! Good thing with that one is it can protrude through the soffit, it's made for it.

Is that a Banshee or Warrior? Friend had a Banshee, me the Quadzilla.

I ordered flood lights and mounting box's from my BIL but it's going to take a week or so for what I want to get here  So I decided to work on my stripes. When I put the blue one on I thought the green frog tape would be enough WRONG :shocking: I had bleed thru big time. I did some research and found some threads on here with a few idea's. A friend gave me some special tape and a roller and said try this I like the tape as its like the fine line tape used when painting cars and sticks to concrete.

well that didn't work either

in my search I did run across a tip that said use the green frog tape and pain the wall color in the stripe area what bleeds thru is the color of the wall than after it dry's you paint the stripe color. So I guess I'll try that next

Nice garage, neighbor! What part of town are you in, I'm just south of Votaw and west of W. Springs road. The weather is supposed to cool down for a few days here soon.

Put your tape line on the wall, then run a thin bead of caulk over it, then paint. The caulk will give you a nice clean edge. Check out this video to give you an idea:

http://www.finehomebuilding.com/item/21049/how-to-stop-paint-from-bleeding-under-masking-tape

Yep that's what I will try if my 1 plan doesn't work. I'm waiting for the paint to dry so I'm on here . Thanks for the link

I figured I would try each method at the same time. or kind of a combo of both.

I taped a short section on each side of the breaker box then used the paint trick to seal the edge's. After that I did the silicone trick on the left side of the box.

the right side

The left side with latex caulking as a seal

Time to add some black

JC, it's coming together nice.
Have you saw cut a control joint where your sidewalk connects to the drive way? It's a good spot for crack.
Also, I would suggest at least one in between the roll up doors.

Look forward to seeing the paint job inside.

You'll be in Shortys good graces, you know how he likes paint.:lol_hitti

I was a bit anxious to see the results after all its a test :spit: But I believe this combo idea will work I just need to give more time between steps

right side no chaulking

Left side with both and I paid extra attention to the bottom part. Line looks very clean so I think I have it down. Thank you Syclone :3gears:

Yes, you will make Shorty happy with the paint job. I believe he has a paint fetish or something. You know maybe we should gang up on him? His place isn't painted yet is it?

One trick I alway used is it press tape down really good and don't cheap out on the tape. Now once tape is down either use a semi dry brush or roller and paint light coat over the tape. I work away from the tape edge. Going toward it will force paint under the tape edge. I used small low nap roller almost smooth roller. Few thin coats should seal it.

I guess i should have saved the $50 tip i gave him till this was done :lol_hitti

Don't wait too long!
I'd ride his case to get it done or get a blade and get them in.
New concrete will often cracked fairly quick after pouring.

I really wanted to get my floor coating down this past weekend But # 1 it was supposed to rain and storm all weekend # 2 it was Easter and well my wife comes from a large catholic family and there's no telling what or who may show up :shocking:. so I ditched that idea and decided I could get the outside painted as the weather man said clear mornings :lol_hitti just a hint he was way wrong :dunno:

first I love my sprayer one of the best tools I have ever purchased thanks to the GJ
its hard to tell because I had the sealer primer tinted to the paint color. I figured 5gl would be enough wrong 5 more and I got it done and hardly a drop of rain.

Hey that's the same way I leveled my yard, a Honda Big Red pulling chain link fence. It works a lot better when it's flat though. :lol_hitti

Shop looks great with the paint. I'm liking the black trim with black light. Will door be same color as the block?

Thanks shorty I haven't decided on the door color yet on the inside I'm going to put a wrap on it. i may do the same thing to the outside. There is a guy around the corner that does them I'm told he has one on his shop door of him standing there and it looks so real people don't know it's a wrap till they get close

My BIL kind of dropped the ball on my flood lights that I wanted to have so that I could test mount the lights and brackets. well the lights came in and I'm pretty happy with them

test fit

Mounted the box permanent and ran a 4' jumper wire. Now we can finish the soffit
