I prefer to brew my own when I have time.

I have to take some pictures of the shop. All the plywood is up. I just have to hit a few areas with putty, caulk the seams, then prime and paint in the spring.

I liked Rockwool so much I tore the drywall off a drafty room in the house. 852946b5e757d370cb3b896e212b998f.jpg

Installed the Rockwool. 618584431ef71bb50cdf127afb4b8b7f.jpg9a3e8bda4d2d17cc7c7dc1a3cba3bfb0.jpg

No more drafts, and this area is silent like a vault. I can see myself doing a lot of this in the future to cut back on propane usage in the winter.

Just viewed this whole thread, really nice job!. I'm looking to do a 24 x 30 this spring.
How much do you have invested in the rotten cotton?

I don't remember the exact amount, somewhere around 3 grand.

Joe, great building! I'm going to be following your lead on the insulation and vapor barrier.

A few questions: Do you know if I could put 1" foam board to fill the gap between the rockwool and the exterior wall and if I did would I still need the vapor barrier on the inside?

Whats the best way to attach the vapor barrier? Staples and then tape over them or just tape the seams?

Joe, your building turned out fantastic! I am probably going to use similar colors for the outside when it comes time to build. I just finished adding rockwool insulation to my attic and can already see the difference in more comfort and less fuel used to maintain the same temp. in the house. I figured your mountain view had to be: the endless mountains in northeast Pa. or north mountain in south Pa. (the mountain I currently look at everyday). Anything you would do different on another building?

Best Cheap beer on the market. 12.50 for a 24 rack of yuengy premium in central pa.

Wish I could get Yuengling here. Rode my bicycle from DC to Pittsburgh. Had a few along the way.

Honestly, I don't think the foam board is necessary. R23 Rockwool has this building sealed up tight. If you run heat more than AC, the vapor barrier should be on the inside. I used staples and taped the seams.

The Appalachian Trail runs along the top of that mountain just north of I78. I don't think I would've done anything different. Maybe a man door along the back wall. We have a lot of yard behind the shop and a fire pit.

I haven't been on here for a while. Didn't get as far as I would like this year. I sanded the plywood, primered, and just started painting. I'm gonna be ******* a lot with work this fall, so electric may wait until 2020.

Everything’s framed out. Now I’m waiting on my delivery of 24” OC R23 Rockwool. I bought a bag of 16” OC Rockwool for the smaller areas.

Did you leave a gap between the bottom plate and the floating slab?

It’s a bit of a mess right now, but I did finish painting.

Still using extension cord power. Hung up some cheap Amazon lights. Hoping to run electric in the spring.

Looks great! It’ll feel great to get the electric run. Doing conduit on the walls?

Nice build. Your color choices are spot-on.

I'm not sold on the bookshelf girts due to thermal bridging, but it does make for a nice clean insulation setup, and I can't argue with your results :)

I'm curious about the proper setup for the wall bottom plate on a floating slab. You said that it was attached to the concrete and not to the posts, but do you attach the interior wall sheathing to it?

I did not. I left a gap and glued vinyl cove trim to the bottom. Plenty of flexibility. There's a chance I went overboard, as my concrete has not budged in over a year, but that's how I did it.

Is the orange foam just to keep the air draft out between the wainscot and the siding?

Thanks
