In my opinion 400 is more than fair I do not normally stand behind a tool as aggressive as this impact. I scrapped out two junk cars on Monday with my 8810. Before we scrap them we have to pull at least the fuel tank and tires. One was an old Nissan with half a dozen 10mm bolts (17mm head) holding the tank in. This impact with a universal socket tore those RUSTED bolts out with ease. I don't know of another 3/8 impact that could have done that. The tires were 13/16 lug nut I didn't have to heat or cut a single lug nut it ripped those nuts of with just a moment of hammering.

seems legit, but the Milwaukee m18 3/8 impact wrench kit runs under $300 with 2batteries and charger

Hopefully they release some info on there site soon.

I paid $299 for the bare CT8810 with no batts or charger from my dealer.

Even if that I'd correct you gotta reason you get two batteries and a charger for another 300 the batteries are 200 alone so I for me I'm buying the kit and getting the extra batteries. I'll sell the charge. The big deal is this the batteries are lithium they have a life span

I bought a CT 8810 about two months ago, it replaced a four year old CT 4410 which I loved. Traded up for more power and lithium battery not to mention lighter weight. Today the thing suddenly quit, emitted smoke and the anvil will not move when depressing trigger! I couldn't believe it! My old 4410 was so reliable, I curious if any one else is having trouble with theirs? I of course sent it in for warranty repairs, but now being without it really stinks. I would like to think I got a bad one, but for the expense this shouldn't happen! Bought a Milwaukee fuel 3/8 2654-22 18v lithium, their 5/3 warranty is hard to beat, not sure what I'm going to do with the SO yet? Keep or sell it after repaired?

Yeah, mine quit after just over a month. Press trigger and LED lights but anvil wouldn't spin in either direction. Sent it off and they replaced the trigger switch assembly. So far so good.

There was about a three week turnaround time for repairs.

if you read this thread you'll find you arent the only one who had to send it back due to a failure. Considering GJ is merely a small percentage of overall owners I'd say its going through quite a few teething issues on a fairly large scale. Does not sound like a good tool to be an early adopter on. My 2 cents, sell it off while resale prices are still sky high and buy it back in a year or two, after they've hopefully ironed out these issues. The fact that Snap-On only gave it a 1yr warranty, combined with so many having issues out of the gate, would put me off as well. Basically setup for some flat rate rebuild costs.

Goes without saying but at $600 for the kit, really snap-on? This is the best you could do?

I absolutely hate how crappy the battery life is. It's a joke honestly. I have used the SO heavily and have been less than impressed. The IR takes the cake in my book, torque is far greater and so is battery life.

I've been more than happy with the battery run time and power. We are talking about the lithium 3/8" impacts right? I think the Snap On has the edge on power, when its not broken ;)

I've used the 1/2" more than the 3/8" and have been less than impressed honestly. Decent guns, I think I'm just hard to please.

Yeah. I have the 1/2" and the 3/8" lithium impacts and power wise I was not overly impressed. I find things it won't take loose regularly. Now the 3/8" on the other hand out performed my expectations on power and runtime. If I could have only one or the other I'd keep the 3/8".

Hi red wrench, mine did the same thing yesterday its two months old. The thing is mean but apparently not very reliable? I thought it was just me, I'm sorry yours did what mine did too, when I squeezed the trigger it would just smoke, and stink without the anvil turning. Good luck!

Hi red wrench, I actually have the ct7850 also. It has been good, battery life isn't so good but the tool works okay, I've had it for almost two years, I got one when they first came out, that 's why the 8810 dying completely shocked me, might have to go back to 4410, they just work!

I'm not ready to give up on them yet. This is how products get better. I'll see how it turns out. I got my ct 8810 back after repairs and its running well. When it works it kicks ***.

No, that's how products get a bad reputation. Given the small sampling of users we have here and how many have had problems its obvious they're either having quite a few quality control issues or they didn't field test the impact at all and just ran with it. Not to mention how late to the game Snap-On is with lithium powered tools. Its not like its cutting edge technology. People shouldn't pay $600 to help snap-on weed out issues especially since the impact has such a **** warranty. I really hope Snap-On steps up to the plate and gives you all an extension on your warranty out to 2-3 years if you continue to have problems. It would be a good gesture toward you early adopters and show they're at least willing to stand behind it.

Yeah, I'm kinda torn on it. On one hand it's a kick *** impact with lots of speed, power and battery run time but on the other hand it let me down early with a problem. But it was addressed quickly and professionally. My dealer even made a special trip to my work to give it back to me as soon as he got it back from the repair facility. In the end it's not really a big deal. They made it right, what else can I expect. Now if it makes a habit of going **** up I may have to back up and punt.

No power loss and no problems on my end. Not disagreeing with some early release problems but always remember more people come on the Internet to tell negative experiences than positive. Think about it would some of you posted back in this forum if your impacts never failed. Also I believe snapon will repair/replace them and get it right with updates. For example I purchased a second hand Nexiq Navistar Pocketmaxx and it has been nothing but problems. I contacted Nexiq (snapon) and was helped immediately. They emailed me the fixed updates and have me a free year of updates and a year of Navistar dealer subscription because of past problems.

Just wanted to also say how sweet this new ct 8810 is. I am a Volvo heavy duty diesel mechanic and I have used just about every cordless battery impact on the market and Nothing comes close to the power of this gun. I waited a month to get the orange one and today my snap on guy had it but when I took it out of the box it looked nothing like I thought it would. I was thinking it would look like the 4410 orange one like I had before but this was a very neon looking color. I was very displeased and was going to get the green one he had but he offered me a great deal on a red one he had been carrying in his bag that had a couple dings on the nose cone. I hate the color red but I got to thinking that in a week it will not matter what color it was. So after a month of waiting for a orange one I ended up with the red which I could have originally got. Oh well. I usually go through 1 every year or 2. I use my tools hard. Not on purpose but I work on heavy duty trucks and that's part of my job. I do wipe them all down and don't abuse them on purpose but I don't get bent out of shape if they get banged up. There tools that's what happens. I do a lot of clutches, transmissions and engine work. I used it tonight to put in a set of injectors on a d13 Volvo. It took the rocker shaft bolts right out without thinking twice torqued to 75lbs and last 18mm bolt torqued to 125lbs. I ended up paying $499 with a $250 trade in for a dewalt 823 3/8 impact and he also gave me. $86 for a beat up old 7.2 screw gun that had no rubber grip left. I used that trade for a new li 7.2 screw gun which is 100 times better then the old 7.2 screw gun. Well sorry for the long rant just wanted to chime in! Haha.

DBunce,
Thats an epic first post, what other impacts have you used that you can compare the CT8810 against?
The price is crazy steep and there are talks that there is a 300% markup on them HaHa.

I bailed out and sold my two month old ct 8810, for the price snap on charges, they shouldn't break! 585 retail. Bought instead Milwaukee 2654-22 299.00 kit almost half the price, the snap on has a bit more torque but I need reliability! Milwaukee brushless is latest in technology, 4.0 ah batteries are also less expensive than SO and the 5 year tool warranty and 3 yr batt. warranty is much more desirable for me, SO repaired the motor failure under warranty, NC but I don't want another failure outside of warranty and pay their flat rate repair ****, sorry snap on 4410 was reliable, 8810 is powerful but they're failing.

Good ol' 4410! Mine is still running very strong. Despite being heavy and not-so-compact, I can't seem to let go of it. It's a shame Snap On quality slipped. One of my CT7850 was making screeching noise (front bearing gone bad).

I just picked up a used 4410. I just keep reading about how reliable they were. That sold me. I couldn't justify spending buck-o bucks that was going break and have to wait a month for this to get fixed.

Mine is still doing fine the 8810 that is. Use it daily. I think there were a few problems but some of us have had problems with the IR w7150 so nothing is off limits to bring perfect.
