Those cabinets look exactly like the one issued with the TOOL SET, Common Number One, Organizational Maint Set. These sets were issued to Company/Battery and Battalion Maint sections. They were designed to be deployable with the unit maint section, so yes they would have been on the 2 1/2 ton maint truck. I had my eye on them for years!!!
Never saw one at the DOL they were getting rid of though.

Best Regards
Herb
I've seen them around my unit as well. All 15 came from a surplus place on ebay. Couldn't believe I found that many at once!

If all goes well I should wrap up the build this weekend. I'll try to capture the whole set up as best I can with my good camera. Will probably take me a lifetime to sort all my junk into the drawers.

Killinger: cabinets look amazing. Anything going in the drawers yet and do tell?

I need to pick up my map cabinets next week and still wondering where they are going.

Post more picks as you have time because videos are hard to see on my phone.

That's a wrap. Only thing I have left is to finish one more top. Everything is in place and ready for organizing.

Later on down the road I will trim all the edges with something. Probably hardwood but I need to get my table saw going first. Also want to paint the bases and seal the tops.

I'll update with good pictures once everything is orginized. I'll shoot pics inside the drawers also as I get them orginized.

Thanks for looking and stay tuned for more fun!!!

Now that my shop is in somewhat of order,,, I need to get back to making knives. This year I want to add a heat treat oven to my shop so I can do 100% of my knife work myself. I also want to pick up a Rockwell tester. Sure I could go old school and heat treat my blades with my forge but I'm selling these things to paying customers for good money. I need to know 100% it is right when it leaves my shop.

So in order to pay for this stuff I have to make knives. Haha. I picked up some upgrades for my grinder that should help me grin faster and cleaner. More accurate and so on. Was a little spendy but well worth it. After getting it all set up I played with it for a few minutes and it is awesome!

Some pics....

Nice shop! I really dig that last set of cabinets. I've seen your work on BCUSA before and now here. Slowly getting into the hobby myself. I haven't made anything very sharp or pretty yet, but somehow I've managed to cut myself a multitude of times. Funny how that works.

The cuts are part of the job. I have had many stitches from it.

No stitches from it yet though, a couple were borderline and I have a nice burn scar as a reminder. Also wanted to add that your work is awesome, and that I wasn't drawing any parallel between your level of expertise and me "getting into the hobby".

Who currently does your heat treating?

Killenger: we miss all your cool STUFF so did you join the knife forums and forget about GJ? WAS UP??

cheers
Sorry, haven't really been doing much lately. Not a lot has changed since my last post. Couple little projects. I'll try to get some updates as soon as I can. I will be away for the month of June so that's going to really slow me down.

UPDATE......I really need to label all these drawers. I have started to stick stuff in them and can't remember what or where I put stuff.

Killinger: grab a roll of blue, green painting tape or duct tape and a sharpie and label them for now. once you get it like you want then magnetic blank business cards or just the sticky more permanent labels.

good luck

Hey Killinger, I started a "show your sewing projects" thread in the fabrication section recently, if you get a chance, please post some of your awesome leather work in there!

Hope all is well!
