I got one of these sets today. The interesting thing was I had to go to the service desk to inquire since I couldn't find them. Their records showed 21 on hand whereas the website indicated 16.

The gal at the service desk managed to get ahold of the right tool dept. guy. He said this must be a promo item and he knew since it wasn't in the regular tool section, it could be almost anywhere in a standalone cardboard display or on J hooks.

He had to do almost 10 minutes of walking, but he found them in a standalone on the aisle with the truck tool boxes, jacks, etc.

So if you can't find these, go ask at the service desk. Oh it really helped to have a printout of the webpage.

That's the automotive section. It's been mentioned multiple times that they are either in lawn & garden or automotive. :p

I walked the store and couldn't find them. Ordered it online for store pickup and picked it up at customer service. I have no idea where the magical ratchet sets are kept.

We are keeping ours in inside lawn/graden and obviously in tool world by the other ratchets, in the inside lawn/graden look next to the spark plugs.

The website usually states they have less than they actually do to account for shrink (theft) and inventory error (returned incorrectly)

The website is not accurate and not linked to the actual inventory system.

Yeah but when I looked at the sign at the front end, it read "Hardware" not Automotive. :eyecrazy:

Someone told me the store on south Parkway here had them in the tool section.

Sooo I bought two and bent one to about 23-degrees. Good deal for $30:rocker:

How did you bend it? That looks very cleanly done.

I used this http://www.harborfreight.com/garage-shop/pipe-benders.html.

16 ton pipe bender because it was what I had around. A regular press would of made it easier. It bent fairly easily. I think any press over 5 tons is all you need. I put wood under the side dies to keep from marring the finish, and removed the center die and used a piece of 1" brass rod in its place to give a nice small arc.. A few pumps and it bent no problem!

Nice looking bend! I think I may go do this..... I wonder if it compromises the handle strength at all, doing a cold bend like that?

Showing up $15.97 at my store. Absolutely don't need but I've always liked this style of Kobalt ratchet. Most of their sets come with the other style that isn't nearly as smooth.

It actually probably made it stronger by 'work hardening' the steel. It took 10'000lbs to bend. Don't think I would use this for anything above 100ft/lbs.

$15.27 for me, ordered online. Don't 'need' it either but if that was the criteria I used for tools, I'd own about 1/5 of what I have. ;). It'll come in handy someday, I am sure!

Harbor Freight conversion - Kobalt flex head

I made my own. Thanks for the idea. I used the HF flex-head, though. They looked identical - even the internals.

The HF is not quit the same as the Kobalt has a way better made selector switch. The HF one has fail on me, and I had to warranty it.

For those of you that have bought multiple sets for yourselves (mainly for the additional ratchets) what are you doing with the extra spark plug sockets and extensions?

I picked up two of these sets tonight. One because I actually needed a spark plug socket set at the moment, convenient, and the second because it was a good deal for the ratchet. I never would have known about it if not for yall, thanks.

Also, for those of you who bend the ratchet handles: what benefits does it give? I've never used a ratchet with a bent handle before.

The bend makes spark plug removal easier in certain applications.

Did you want some? I wouldn't mind shipping out a set of spark plug sockets for free (you just pay shipping), I want the extensions though.

I sent this link to the wife a while back and hinted it would make a good Father's Day gift. She got me this and a pair of USA made Channel Lock pliers.

The ratchet seems really nice, especially for the money. I hope the selector holds up better than the Harbor Freight style.
