Acme as I don’t believe square form would be very good
6tpi 1 7/8 diameter.
Can’t remember how many passes . It’s almost inconsequential as towards the end small cuts are made to get good fit

Yes I make a standard or test gauge to make the nuts so I know they’re to spec then make the screws to fit the nut

What does someone use a 400lb vise for? My bench is 3/4" plate and I think it would tip it over!

I'm in heavy equipment shops everyday, never seen other than normal sized vices.
I'm talking shops that a 50,000lb D6 is referred to as the mini dozer.

I've never had a reason to clamp a 3406B in a vise, but guess I could if I owned one of these.

In all seriousness, never underestimate the utility of a massive, immobile fixture. Makes percussive operations like driving out stubborn pins very easy, since the sheer mass of the vise forces all the energy of a hammer blow to go right into the pin instead of shaking the fixture.

It would be handy to have an effectively Immovable Object around now and then. I've never had a way to hold a workpiece REALLY solidly.
