We refer to our home as Larsonville and all since all good towns "need" a City Hall, that is the name of my shop (It probably makes more sense if you know I was the former Mayor of an actual city).

I'm building a 40'x60'x15' Mueller Bolt-Up Building. :) It's basically going to be a big hobby shop with a bathroom that will double as a bath/changing room for the future pool.

I've been working with a plumber trying to determine if there's enough fall to the septic system to keep us from raising the foundation or adding a grind pump. It was close and he suggested we install the septic line first to make sure. So installing the septic line was the official start of my shop build.

There's some plumbing going on in that hole (main house septic line with the shop line tee'd in, sprinkler pipe and wire, air line for septic system and electrical conduit for septic system).

And we're done!!

And the good news is... there is enough fall!!

Foundation starts tomorrow!!

We are located in an unincorporated area of the county with no HOA. So no zoning or city ordinances to deal with on this project. :rocker:

We are in Fort Worth's ETJ (ExtraTerritorial Jurisdiction) which means they have called "dibs" for future annexation. They attempted annexation a few years back, but met with a high level of opposition and gave up.

Prior to moving here, we lived in a town of 40,000 where I had previously served as Chairman of the Zoning Board of Adjustments, Councilmember and finally Mayor. It is safe to say I've seen the good/bad of Zoning and City Ordinances. :)

Good thing you're building now - Ft Worth will get you yet. At least Ft Worth listens better than Houston. We had that issue where we lived down there - 60K people threw a fit about annexation, Houston said "tough ****". Killed off the VFD, didn't bring in services, etc. They drew a line around the 1M sq/ft mall and high buck houses and just took the money. Nice.

I'm sure at some point Fort Worth will attempt to annex our neighborhood again. I know there have been some changes in state law that make it more difficult to annex areas without providing similar services. Another issue is my neighborhood is served by a community (for profit) water system and they would have to be compensated if we were annexed.

Grrrrrr....

Woke up to flooding in Larsonville this morning. Looks like one of the cement trucks ran over part of the sprinkler system. When we turned the system on, the main line was leaking and we didn't notice it for a while.

The "Building" has arrived...

Unloading the steel for the City Hall (Shop)...

The steel for City Hall (Shop) came with my name inkjet printed on it.

One benefit... If the building blows away in a tornado, they'll know who to return the pieces to. ;)

"Topping Out" a new building is sometimes commemorated by placing an evergreen tree and flag on top. I couldn't find a Christmas Tree Lot, so the flag will have to do.

A little bit of this and a little bit of that! ;-)

It's going to be a multi-purpose hobby shop. Right now just my tools, light storage and lawn equipment.

In the future I plan to do a frame off restoration of our 1929 Model A Ford Roadster Pickup. Maybe build an airplane. Who know's what trouble I might get into with this much free space. ;-)

Damn fine idea. I can't say that I have ever seen one.

We have a double 4' steel door setup on one room at work, first time I'd seen a 4' steel door too. Swing out a couple steel man doors and have 8' clear space to move stuff in and out... Could replace a secondary garage door in a lot of shops.

The winds here have slowed progress. The winds are forecast to be lower tomorrow. I hope they make a lot of progress as the winds are forecast to pick up later in the week.

Very nice, well I work for Lowe's but if I'm off and you need a hand shoot me a pm. I'm always looking for a reason to get out of the house.
I appreciate the offer. Luckily, the contractor is doing all the work at this point. But, it's up to me to finish the bathroom build out (once my bank account recovers :wtf: .)

I've seen the doubles but never a single. I think it's a great idea if incorporated into a new build. Hell, I think I would have used one (price being right) on my garage shed.

Mr Mayor, how are the neighbors liking your new build ?
